Fixed
- Copy Link Address, Copy Image Address and Copy Email Address in the right-click menu copy again, where they had stopped doing anything.
- Save Image As… in the right-click menu always asks where to save, starting in your download location, where it could save without asking or start in your Downloads folder.
- Save Image As… no longer clears the unread count on Meru's Dock icon.
- A download that loses its connection shows an error, in your language, and appears in your download history, where it failed silently and left the progress bar stuck.
- Downloading two files of the same name at once keeps both, even when only their case differs, where one could overwrite the other.
- A downloaded file with no extension in its name gets the usual one for its type, such as .jpg or .txt, where many common types got none.
- The download notification shows a file name with text like \x41 in it as saved, where it decoded that text into another character.
- Cancelling a save dialog no longer adds a blank row to your download history.
- The progress bar counts downloads from all your accounts together.
- Clicking a link in Settings… → What's new opens it in your browser, instead of replacing Meru's window with the page.

- Adding a Google account works again. In 3.64.0, Google answered "Couldn't sign you in — This browser or app may not be secure" after the email address. Accounts that were already signed in were never affected and stay signed in.

- Meru's interface is available in German, Japanese, French, Italian, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Polish and Swedish, chosen in Settings… → General → Language.

- When Meru can't check an account for new email, it tries again less and less often, down to every five minutes, and goes back to every 30 seconds as soon as a check works or your computer wakes up or comes back online.
- The Update available button in the titlebar drops its icon, so it takes less room.
- Settings… → License says Upgrade rather than Purchase, like the rest of Meru.

- Starting a huddle in Google Chat keeps it going, instead of ending it at once with "Huddle ended".
- Several new emails arriving at once play the notification sound once, instead of overlapping copies of it.
- Check for Updates… says what it found — that Meru is up to date, that an update is available, or that the check couldn't be made — instead of leaving you without an answer.
- Notify when updates are available in Settings… → Updates takes effect as soon as it is switched, instead of at the next start.
- Restarting to install an update reopens the tabs you had open, the way any other quit does, instead of losing recent changes to them.
- Meru Pro: During a Pro trial:
- The days left in the titlebar count down while Meru stays open, and a trial that ends while Meru is open says so in a dialog and in the titlebar, instead of waiting for the next start.
- The days left show as whole days, or less than a day, in the titlebar and in Settings… → License, instead of fractions like 1.5 day.
- The saved searches button appears in the titlebar, instead of staying hidden until a license key is activated.

- macOS: Swipe sideways with two fingers on the trackpad to go back and forward in a Gmail tab or a workspace app, as you would in a browser. An arrow slides in from the edge to show where the swipe is heading. It follows System Settings → Trackpad → More Gestures → Swipe between pages, and Swipe between pages at Settings… → General turns it off in Meru alone. On by default.
- Meru Pro: Archive, mark as read, delete or mark as spam a message straight from the unified inbox, by hovering its row or with Gmail's own shortcuts: E, Shift+I, # and !.
- Meru Pro: Disable an account at Settings… → Accounts to keep it signed in and hidden until you need it again.

- Meru Pro: Show Do Not Disturb button at Settings… → Appearance takes the Do Not Disturb button out of the titlebar when turned off. Do Not Disturb turns off with it, so notifications keep arriving. On by default.
- Meru Pro: Show bookmarks button at Settings… → Workspace Apps takes the bookmarks button out of the titlebar and the vertical tabs sidebar when turned off. On by default.
- Download notifications now have a Show in Finder (Show in File Explorer on Windows) or Open button. Clicking the notification itself brings Meru forward.

- With enough accounts to fill the titlebar, the account buttons now scroll instead of pushing the other titlebar buttons off-screen. Wheel or swipe over the row to move it, or use the arrows at either end; switching accounts brings the one you picked into view.
- The Accounts menu no longer shows shortcuts for accounts past the ninth, which never worked.
- With Theme set to Dark at Settings… → Appearance, the titlebar, tabs and settings no longer sometimes launch light until you switch the setting back and forth.
- After choosing Later on an update, the restart prompt no longer returns every few hours for the same version.
- macOS: The close, minimize and zoom buttons now sit centered in the titlebar instead of a few pixels too high.
- macOS: Showing a download in Finder from its notification no longer opens Finder behind Meru's window.
- Windows: The passkey note at Settings… → Extensions and the prompt at Google's passkey sign-in now say that only a passkey added to your Google account from inside Meru works, and that passkeys from Chrome, Google Password Manager or your phone don't.
- Linux and Windows: Restart in Meru's restart prompts now brings Meru back on the AppImage and the portable build, which quit for good instead of restarting.

- Meru Pro: 1Password can now run on sites you add yourself. Add sites at Settings… → Extensions, beside Set up desktop app, lets it sign you in on your company's single sign-on provider as well as on Google's own sign-in pages. Added sites apply after a restart.
- Linux: AppImageLauncher, AppImageUpdate, AM and other AppImage tools can now update Meru in place, downloading only the parts that changed rather than the whole file.

- Show Gmail unread badge at Settings… → Workspace Apps replaces Hide Gmail unread badge when active. It adds a Never choice that hides the unread count on the Gmail tab altogether, alongside Always and When another tab is active, which is what the old setting did. Your existing choice carries over automatically.
- Show extensions button and the titlebar button it showed are gone. The 1Password popup that button opened isn't fully supported in Meru, and 1Password is meant to be used on the sign-in page itself, through its inline menu and the prompts it shows there.
- 1Password's description at Settings… → Extensions now says it needs the 1Password desktop app, and is no longer cut off after two lines.
- Linux: the AppImage for Intel and AMD machines is now named Meru-<version>-x86_64.AppImage, matching the arm64 one.
- macOS: on macOS 12 and earlier, this is the last version of Meru. It stops checking for updates there and gets no further fixes, security fixes included, so continued use on those Macs is at your own risk. If you have Meru Pro and can't keep using Meru because of this, email tim@meru.so for a refund.
Fixed
- Windows: Meru can now be made your default mail client. It never appeared under Windows' Settings → Default apps, and the switch at Settings… → General said Meru was the default while another app kept opening email links. The row now opens Meru's page in Windows Settings, where you can choose it.
- Windows: 1Password's Add Browser no longer rejects Meru as unsigned. The Windows build is code-signed, so Windows shows Meru's publisher instead of Unknown publisher.
- Windows: the 1Password setup steps at Settings… → Extensions now point to Meru's install folder, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Meru, instead of C:\Program Files, where Meru isn't installed.
- New mail notifications, verification codes included, no longer go missing — not for the first email after launch, not for an email that arrives while you're reading another one, and not for mail Gmail reports late.
- After your computer wakes from sleep or the network changes, the inbox, the unread badge and new mail notifications no longer lag minutes behind your phone. Meru refreshes Gmail as soon as the connection is back, and checks for new mail every 30 seconds until Gmail's own updates have caught up.
- With Extend dark theme on, mail you compose in Gmail no longer carries the dark theme's light text colors into drafts and sent messages, which made them unreadable in light-themed mail clients.
- Help → Report Issue, Ask Question and Request Feature now open a compose window that follows Extend dark theme and Close compose window after send.

Added
- Meru Pro: Chrome extension support, marked Experimental, at Settings… → Extensions. Extensions are off until you turn them on.
- Only extensions from Meru's curated catalog can be installed. Each one is reviewed for safety and performance before it's listed, and you can request an extension for review to have it added.
- The catalog starts with 1Password, under Password Managers. It signs you in to your Google account with a saved password or passkey, and generates a new one when you change your password or add a passkey in your Google account's security settings. Meru holds no vault data of its own — 1Password answers from the desktop app you connect it to.
- Extensions are installed from the official Chrome Web Store package, verified before they load, and checked for updates on launch and every three hours. The Check for updates button on the page checks on demand.
- Turning extensions off stops them running without uninstalling them or throwing away the download.
- Show extensions button puts a button in the titlebar that lists your extensions and opens their popups. It's off by default, and you usually won't need it — 1Password's autofill runs in the page, not in the popup.
- Passkey sign-in for Google accounts.
- macOS: Meru Pro lets you add a passkey to your Google account from its security settings inside Meru, then sign in with Touch ID — no password manager extension to install. The passkey is stored in the macOS keychain and bound to your Mac's Secure Enclave, so it never leaves the device. Passkeys held in Chrome, iCloud or on your phone don't work here.
- Windows: Google sign-in now uses Windows' own passkey dialog, so Windows Hello, security keys and your synced passkeys work.
- Meru Pro: Idle tabs can hibernate to give back the memory they hold, at Settings… → Workspace Apps.
- Hibernate idle tabs — Unpinned tabs (default), Selected tabs, or All tabs. A single tab can opt in or out with Hibernate When Idle in its context menu.
- Hibernate after — 30 minutes, 1 hour (default), 3 hours, or 6 hours.
- A hibernated tab keeps its place, title and zoom in the sidebar, and loads again when you click it, back on the page you left with its history intact. The active tab, tabs in their own window, and tabs playing audio are never hibernated.
- Release channels at Settings… → Updates → Release channel. Stable is the default; Beta gets upcoming features early and asks for confirmation before switching. You can switch back at any time.
- Meru Pro: Sidebar as a placement for the launcher and bookmarks at Settings… → Workspace Apps → Launcher and Bookmarks → Placement, which keeps the sidebar open even when Gmail is your only tab. Auto (the default) and Titlebar are the other two.
- Meru Pro: Hide promotional banner at Settings… → Gmail, on by default, which hides the recommendation banners above the message list such as the Google Workspace upgrade offer.
- Google Admin joins the Workspace apps.
- Cut, copy and paste now work in Google Docs' own Edit menu.

- Verification codes are now copied for you by default, and you choose when at Settings… → Verification Codes → When to copy. Only when you ask (the default) shows the code in the notification and waits for you to press its Copy button. As soon as it arrives copies it the moment the email lands. The notification shows you the code either way.
- Verification codes are now found by a rewritten detector that reads 17 languages and non-Latin scripts — German, Japanese, French, Chinese, Spanish and more — where the old one effectively only understood English.
- Cmd+, on macOS and Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux now open Meru's settings, matching every other app. Gmail's own settings move to Cmd+Shift+, / Ctrl+Shift+,, which is a new shortcut on Windows and Linux.
- NotebookLM is now Gemini Notebook, following Google's rename and its move to notebook.google.com. Your saved tabs and bookmarks carry over automatically.
- A wide pass over the interface: clearer confirmat

Tabs landed in 3.58.0 last week, and the feedback that came back was detailed, direct and genuinely useful — this release is mostly the result of it. Sorry for the back and forth it took to get there, the Workspace Apps launcher in particular: it moved to the left of the titlebar in 3.58.0 and moves back to the right here. Thank you for bearing with it, and please keep the feedback coming.
