Release notes

[1.97.1] - 2026-09-11
Hovering the scan line in Duplicate Finder now tells you which folder it is in. It showed a tooltip, and
the tooltip showed the same file name the line already showed — so pointing at it told you nothing. The tab
was only ever told the file's name, never where it lived, and the same name occurs in dozens of folders, which
on this tab is the whole point. Hover now shows the full path. Two smaller things came with it: a scan of a
small folder used to show no file at all, because the first report waited a fifth of a second that the scan
never lasted, and the line kept showing the last file of the previous stage after the stage had changed.
Fixed
- The scan reports the file's full path, so the row shows the name and the hover shows the folder. Both are
worth having and neither was available before: the line was trimmed to fit and the tooltip repeated it.
- A folder that scans in under 200 milliseconds now shows what it is doing. The rate limit on progress
reports was "no sooner than 200 ms from now" rather than "no more often than every 200 ms", so a fast scan
produced no report at all and the line stayed blank from start to finish.
- The stage and the file beside it now change together. The rate limit carried over from finding files into
hashing them, so the line could read "Hashing files" while still naming the last file it had found.
Verify the download
Get-FileHash .\SysManager-v1.97.1.exe -Algorithm SHA256
Expected SHA256: CF25ED401B0723CB2BFC7D085580400C27EFA63A9286A0324721C02D8F327596
This build is not code-signed, so Windows will warn on first launch. That is
expected for a small independent app: see what the warning says and what to
click.
Code signing is planned through the SignPath Foundation,
which provides free certificates to open-source projects, with signing performed by
SignPath.io. Until then, the SHA256 above and the build
attestation below are what establish that a download is the genuine build.
Code signing policy
This release is not code-signed. The team roles, release-approval process and
privacy policy required by the SignPath Foundation programme
are documented in advance under Code signing
policy. That
documentation is a prerequisite for applying, not evidence of a certificate. The
attribution line naming SignPath as the signing provider will appear here once a
certificate is actually issued.
This program will not transfer any information to other networked systems unless
specifically requested by the user or the person installing or operating it. Full
privacy policy.
Verify where this binary came from
This exe was built by GitHub Actions from this public source, and the build is
recorded in the Sigstore public transparency log. With the
GitHub CLI:
gh attestation verify .\SysManager-v1.97.1.exe --repo laurentiu021/SystemManager
That proves which commit and workflow produced this exact binary, something the
SHA256 file cannot show, since it is published alongside the exe it describes.
Each release also ships SysManager-v1.97.1.sbom.json, a CycloneDX inventory of
every dependency resolved for this build.
