Download MRC PDF Kompressor 4.3.0 for Windows

Turns scanned documents (TIFF, JPEG, PNG, PDF) into very small, sharp and optionally searchable PDF files using Mixed Raster Content - GUI and command line.

MRC PDF Kompressor converts scanned images into compact PDF files using Mixed Raster Content (MRC): the page is split into a high-resolution text mask (JBIG2, pattern-safe without character substitution), separate colour text layers for stamps and headings, and a smoothed, downscaled background (JPEG 2000 or JPEG). Typical results are 90-95 % smaller than the original scan while the text stays crisp. Optional text recognition (OCR, runs locally) adds an invisible text layer so the PDF becomes searchable. It also converts PDF files (e.g. from copiers) into small, searchable PDF/A, keeping existing text, links and bookmarks. Supports PDF/A-1b, -2b, -2u, -3b, -3u and PDF/A-4 output (validated with veraPDF), multi-page TIFF, batch processing of folders, custom profiles and a split-view GUI with live preview. The command line is fully scriptable (exit codes, progress, profiles). Free for private individuals and small businesses (PolyForm Small Business License).
