0.46.0Latest October 20, 2026 — 64-bit MSI
Release notes
This release is based on Jujutsu 0.46.
Added
- Workspace management is now more consistent with JJ: historical paths are preserved, git worktrees are included when colocated and Undo no longer touches operations from another workspace.
- Init and Clone commands create a .gitignore for .jj/ when colocated.
Changed
- Since JJ 0.33, jj undo has worked like a stack, with jj redo for replaying undone operations. GG kept the old semantics, where you could undo an undo - not very useful, but we hadn't got around to catching up. The Undo command is now accompanied by a Redo command unless you're at the top of the stack. It's interoperable with JJ, so you can undo from the CLI and Redo from a GUI or vice versa.
0.45.1 October 20, 2026 — 64-bit MSI
Release notes
Deprecated
- The gg_lib library target hasn't turned out to be worth the complexity - soon, JJ is introducing a jj-frontend crate which makes it easier to build custom clients, and which GG will be using. The [lib] target will be removed from the gg-cli crate in some future release, unless someone comes up with a use for it.
0.45.0 September 23, 2026 — 64-bit MSI
Release notes
This release is based on Jujutsu 0.45.1.
Added
- Panes can be resised using the central vertical separator (thanks to @urbanij).
- On MacOS, a standard Window menu listing open repositories (thanks to @macgyver13).
- On MacOS and Linux, you can scroll the log pane by dragging objects around it - previously this only worked on Windows.
Changed
- On MacOS and Windows, launching GG while it's already running opens a new window in the existing instance.
Fixed
- On MacOS, revision descriptions were truncated when the window was too wide (thanks to @riksteri).
- On MacOS, the GUI-mode window titlebar adapts to your colour scheme once again; on MacOS 26+, it makes use of the empty space that Tahoe leaves on the right.
- The Reopen command didn't work. It may have appeared to work if you pressed F5, due to a webpage reload, but only on some platforms.
- Revsets with elided rows didn't always display accurately - they could cut off and prevent further scrolling.
0.41.0 September 7, 2026 — 64-bit MSI
Release notes
This release is based on Jujutsu 0.41.
Added
- Workspace chips are now interactive. The '@'-chip shown on a workspace's working copy revision has a context menu with these new commands:
- Open - creates a new window (gui) or switches the current tab (web) to the selected workspace.
- Forget - removes a workspace from the repository, abandoning its working copy if it's empty.
- Rename... - renames the workspace.
- Chips support double-clicking to perform a default action - track/untrack for bookmarks, open for workspaces.
- The Changes line in the right pane shows diff stats for non-empty revisions.
- Bookmark->Rename... now pre-fills the previous name (thanks to @urbanij).
- Draft descriptions are saved across operations as long as the change-id of your selection remains the same.
Fixed
- The working directory is now canonicalised with dunce, which will hopefully avoid some reserved-name errors on Windows.
- gg.web.default-port didn't work when set at the --repo level.
- Text selection in the diff view no longer includes +/- prefixes (or an extra space for unchanged lines).
- Context menus were incorrectly positioned in Wayland and nonfunctional on certain GTK versions (thanks to @rielas).
0.39.1 March 12, 2026 — 64-bit MSI
Release notes
Added
- The MacOS app build will now detect when it's run from a terminal like the CLI build does, spawning in the background by default (--foreground to block the shell). (Windows already had behaviour similar to this.)
- GG is now available on Homebrew and WinGet.
0.39.0 March 9, 2026 — 64-bit MSI
Release notes
This release is based on Jujutsu 0.39.
Added
- UI for modifying the [gg.presets] revsets - the left pane's top field has an add/remove button next to it when a custom revset is entered.
- Improved the appearance of secondary action buttons to better distinguish them from disabled ones.
- The gg_lib crate only exposed a SessionEvent-based state machine, which is fine for operations that modify a particular workspace but doesn't cover workspace-level meta-changes. Newly public APIs:
- WorkerSession::init_repository()
- WorkerSession::clone_repository()
- WorkspaceSession::add_workspace()
- WorkspaceSession::forget_workspace()
- WorkspaceSession::list_workspaces()
