Release notes
- Field crash signals: Use the new android signals command to investigate how your app behaves in the field with Firebase Crashlytics. After you sign in with android auth login, find your projects and apps with android signals context, then list, filter, and break down crash, ANR, and non-fatal issues with android signals crashes list, facets, describe, and samples.
- Field heap dumps: Use android signals heaps to list, describe, and download the heap dumps that Crashlytics collects on out-of-memory crashes and memory limiter kills, together with the metadata, custom keys, and logs of the session that produced them.
- App profiling: Use the new android profiler command to record system traces with android profiler systemtrace and capture JVM heap dumps with android profiler heapdump capture on a connected device or emulator. Manage the profiling sessions with android profiler session list, status, and terminate.
- Artifact analysis: Use the new android analyze command to inspect one or more APKs, AABs, AARs, and JARs, and report their package details, DEX sizes, R8 shrinking and optimization metrics, and warnings about library keep rules and low optimization. Pass --format=json or --format=textproto for machine-readable output.
- Compose previews: Use the new android preview list command to find the Jetpack Compose @Preview functions in a target, and android preview render --fqn <name> to render them to PNG images and component tree JSON files on your machine, without Android Studio. Pass --output to choose where the files are written.
- Build references in run and install: android run and android install accept a positional build reference to build and deploy a specific target. Gradle targets without a variant, such as :app, now default to the debug variant.
- Device mirroring window: Use the new android device hub command to open a desktop window for real-time screen mirroring and interactive control of connected physical Android devices (including remote devices connected through android device remote connect) and Android emulators.
