AOMEI Backupper Standard vs EaseUS Todo Backup Free

AOMEI Backupper and EaseUS Todo Backup are the two free backup programs most people end up choosing between. They look alike and both hold cloning back for the paid edition, but their free editions differ in a few places that matter.

Short answer

EaseUS Todo Backup Free gives you more for nothing: differential backups and encryption are listed as free. AOMEI Backupper Standard is the calmer, clearer program and creates the same kind of rescue stick. Neither clones your system disk for free.

Free editions only. “Paid only”: the feature exists in a paid edition of the same program. “—”: the publisher does not say whether the free edition has it.

EaseUS Todo Backup Free

Best for: Encrypted, scheduled backups without paying

Proprietary17.5.0

The free edition is generous on the backup side: system images, full, incremental and differential backups, daily, weekly or monthly schedules and encryption are all listed as free. Cloning a disk, a partition or the whole system is not: that is the main reason to buy Home. Expect offers for other EaseUS products.

Pros

  • Full, incremental and differential backups for free
  • Backup encryption in the free edition
  • Daily, weekly and monthly schedules
  • Bootable rescue media for a PC that no longer starts

Cons

  • No cloning of disks, partitions or the system in Free
  • Promotes other EaseUS products
  • The winget package can lag behind the publisher’s latest release

Price: Free. Todo Backup Home is listed at $39.95.

AOMEI Backupper Standard

Best for: The easiest start for a home PC

Proprietary8.5.0.0

The free Standard edition covers what most home users need: a system image, disk, partition and file backups, daily, weekly or monthly schedules, incremental backups and a WinPE rescue stick. Differential backups, system cloning (“OS migration”) and real-time sync are kept for Professional, and the program reminds you of it.

Pros

  • Clear, step-by-step interface
  • System, disk, partition and file backup in the free edition
  • Daily, weekly and monthly schedules with incremental backups
  • Creates WinPE bootable rescue media

Cons

  • Clones data disks only: moving Windows to a new SSD needs Professional
  • Differential backups and event triggers are paid
  • Upgrade prompts inside the program

Price: Standard is free. Professional starts at $39.95 for one PC.

Where they differ

Differential backups: EaseUS lists them in its free edition, AOMEI keeps them for Professional. Encryption: EaseUS lists it as free, AOMEI’s comparison page does not say it is. If your backups go to a drive that leaves the house, that alone decides it.

Cloning: AOMEI Standard clones data disks, EaseUS Free clones nothing. Neither moves Windows to a new SSD for free.

Price of the upgrade: both paid editions are listed at $39.95, so the free features are what really separates them.

Where they are the same

Both make system, disk, partition and file backups, run them on daily, weekly or monthly schedules with incremental backups, and create a bootable rescue stick to restore a PC that no longer starts. Both are for home use in their free editions, and both show offers for their paid products.

How we compared

  • We compared the free editions only, feature by feature, using each publisher’s own edition comparison on the date at the top.
  • We did not install or benchmark the two programs for this page, so there are no speed figures here.
  • Version numbers, installer details, sizes and update dates come from the Windows Package Manager data, updated every day.
  • We do not accept payment for including or ranking a program.

ExeAtlas is not paid to include a program or to rank it. Download buttons lead to our page for the program, which links only to the publisher’s own installer.

Frequently asked questions

Is AOMEI Backupper better than EaseUS Todo Backup?

For free, EaseUS includes more: differential backups and encryption. AOMEI is easier to find your way around and clones data disks in its free edition. For a system image to an external drive, both do the job.

Which one can clone my system drive for free?

Neither. AOMEI Standard clones data disks only and EaseUS Free does not clone at all. Restore a system image onto the new drive instead.

Are AOMEI and EaseUS safe to install?

Both are established publishers. Download from their own sites or with winget; the ExeAtlas pages link only to the publishers’ own installers.
