### 🗂️ Media Library (New)
A gallery of everything you have downloaded, and anything already sitting in your folders.
• **Reads your folders, not a download log**：Files from older versions, files you moved in by hand, and folders from a download location you used before all show up.
• **Thumbnails that make sense**：Videos show a frame from the video, music shows its embedded cover art, and images show a smaller copy. Each card glows in the colour of its thumbnail.
• **Fast rescans**：Thumbnails and details are remembered, so a rescan only looks at files that are new or changed. Scan progress shows live.
• **Search, filter and sort**：Search titles, artists and platforms. Filter by All, Videos, Audio or Images, and by platform. Sort by newest, oldest, largest, longest or name (A–Z). One click clears every filter.
• **Your folders, your choice**：Add more folders to watch, remove one, or stop scanning a folder that is still being read. Your download folder is always included.
• **Per-file actions**：Open in your default player, show in its folder, or move to the Recycle Bin / Trash. Nothing is permanently deleted.
• **Supported files**：Videos (mp4, mkv, webm, mov, avi, m4v, flv, wmv), audio (mp3, m4a, wav, flac, opus, ogg, aac, wma, aiff, alac) and images (jpg, png, webp, gif, bmp, avif).

### ✨ Built-in Editor (New)
Open any item from the Library and edit it without leaving the app. **Your original is never changed**：every edit is saved as a new file next to it.
• **Audio**：Pull the soundtrack out of a video as MP3 or M4A, in Best or Standard quality.
• **Convert**：Change a video to MP4, WebM or MKV. Pick a resolution (or keep the original) and a quality of High, Balanced or Small. One-click presets: *Share anywhere* (720p MP4) and *Smallest file* (480p MP4).
• **GIF**：Pick a moment of up to 15 seconds, choose the width and 10, 15 or 20 fps, and preview the loop live before saving. You get a heads-up when a GIF is going to be very large.
• **Safe by design**：Edits are written to a temporary file and renamed only when they finish, so cancelling (or closing the app mid-edit) never leaves a half-written file behind.
• **Custom video player**：Space or K to play, ← → to seek 5 seconds, J / L to seek 10, M to mute, F for fullscreen, ↑ ↓ for volume, plus playback speed and click-to-pause.

### ⚡ Much Faster Video Conversion
Converting to H.264 no longer crawls on long videos.
• **Uses your graphics card when it is really faster**：NVIDIA, Intel and AMD on Windows, VideoToolbox on Mac, NVIDIA and Intel on Linux. The app times each option once per session and picks the winner, so a slow integrated GPU never beats a strong CPU. The GPU also helps decode large VP9 and AV1 videos.
• **CPU encoding tuned to your PC**：Low-end laptops, mid-range PCs and high-end desktops each get settings that suit them, instead of one setting for everyone.
• **Cut first, convert second**：A 2-minute clip from a 1-hour video now converts only those 2 minutes. This applies to downloads and to Cut & Download.
• **Live progress**：See the percentage, speed (for example 2.1x), time left and which encoder is working, in the progress ring, the step list and the batch queue.
• **Honest labels**：A quick compatibility fix reads "Fixing file for compatibility", and a real conversion reads "Converting to H.264".

### 📊 Clearer Download Progress
• **Step-by-step timeline**：Preparing, Downloading, Processing, Finishing up, with a running timer. Steps never move backwards, and each shows its own detail such as speed, size or the encoder in use.
• **Better link lookup screen**：Connecting, reading media details, then checking available qualities. If a link takes longer than usual, it tells you so. The old rotating messages (like "Bypassing restrictions…") are gone.
• **Follows along**：The page scrolls to the progress when a download starts and to the result when it finishes. The scroll stops the moment you scroll yourself, and it is skipped if your system asks for reduced motion.

### ✅ Better "Download complete" Screen
• **New look**：An animated check, the saved file name and the folder it went to.
• **Open file**：Opens the download in your default player. If that is not possible, it shows the file in its folder instead.
• **Show in folder** and **Copy file path** buttons.
• **Download another quality of this video**：Go back to the quality list without fetching the link again.
• **Safer by design**：Open file refuses programs and scripts (.exe, .bat, .ps1, .sh and similar), so it can only open media.

### ✂️ Redesigned Cut & Download
• **Cleaner timeline**：Fixed Start and End readouts, a bigger waveform that follows the selection, and a time format of `m:ss.t` that can never read "0:60".
• **Video / Audio switch**：The whole window changes colour to match (purple for video, green for audio).
• **Compact quality chips**：Video shows resolution, format and size, with 1440p and 4K badges. Audio shows Best (~320 kbps), Standard (~128 kbps) and Low (~64 kbps).
• **The button stays in view** on short windows.
• **Clips can't be shorter than 1 second** (it was 0.2), and you get a clear message if you try.
• **Better window**：It opens below the title bar so the window buttons stay usable, and works with the keyboard and screen readers.

### 🔧 FFmpeg：Use Yours If You Have It
• **No extra download**：If FFmpeg is already installed, the app uses it and skips the ~190 MB download. If not, it downloads its own copy as before.
• **Looks in the right places**：PATH, plus winget, Scoop and Chocolatey on Windows, Homebrew and MacPorts on Mac, and `/usr/bin`, `/usr/local/bin`, Linuxbrew and `~/.local/bin` on Linux.
• **Only uses a copy that will work**：It must run, be version 4 or newer, come with ffprobe, and include the encoders the app needs (x264, AAC and MP3). Anything less is skipped and the app's own copy is used, so a stripped-down FFmpeg can't break a download half way through.
• **Snap is skipped on Linux**：Snap's FFmpeg is confined and can't read the app's files.
• **Faster everywhere**：The app no longer launches FFmpeg to re-check it on every request.
• If you already had the app's copy downloaded, it is kept but unused when a system copy is available.

### 🚀 Faster YouTube Links
• **Paste to qualities in a fraction of a second** for single YouTube videos, instead of waiting several seconds for a full lookup.
• **Nothing is lost**：If the fast lookup isn't sure about a video, the app quietly falls back to the regular method. Thumbnails, YouTube Music detection, captions, audio languages and the quality list look the same either way.
• Downloads still go through yt-dlp as before.

### 📁 Branded Download Folders
• **Matching icons** on your VibeDownloader folder (the app logo) and on each platform folder (the platform's logo)：YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, Spotify, SoundCloud, Pinterest and Twitch.
• **Windows, macOS and Linux** are all supported. Windows keeps the icon inside the folder, so it still works if the app is moved or uninstalled.
• **Never overrides you**：A folder where you already chose your own icon is left alone. Existing folders are branded on the next launch.

### 🎨 Look & Feel
• **Settings redesigned**：Clear sections for Download Location, System Tray and the yt-dlp engine. The yt-dlp version appears instantly instead of flashing "Loading…".
• **Refreshed sign-in (cookie) window**：A cleaner, calmer design with the same options.
• **Title bar**：The Maximize / Restore button now always shows the right icon, and there is a button to copy a link to share VibeDownloader.
• **Header shortcuts**：New Library and Install browser extension buttons. The Single / Batch switch is animated.
• **Smoother animations**：Graphics acceleration is now on by default, so blur, shadows and transitions feel smoother. If you prefer the old lower-memory behaviour, set `VIBE_DISABLE_GPU=1`.

### 🧩 Browser Extension Fixes
• **Spotify**：The download button works again on Spotify's new player bar and finds the current track reliably, including when Spotify only links to the album.
