### 🗂️ Media Library (New)
A gallery of everything you have downloaded, and anything already sitting in your folders.
• **Reads your folders, not a download log**：Files from older versions, files you moved in by hand, and folders from a download location you used before all show up.
• **Thumbnails that make sense**：Videos show a frame from the video, music shows its embedded cover art, and images show a smaller copy. Each card glows in the colour of its thumbnail.
• **Fast rescans**：Thumbnails and details are remembered, so a rescan only looks at files that are new or changed. Scan progress shows live.
• **Search, filter and sort**：Search titles, artists and platforms. Filter by All, Videos, Audio or Images, and by platform. Sort by newest, oldest, largest, longest or name (A–Z). One click clears every filter.
• **Your folders, your choice**：Add more folders to watch, remove one, or stop scanning a folder that is still being read. Your download folder is always included.
• **Per-file actions**：Open in your default player, show in its folder, or move to the Recycle Bin / Trash. Nothing is permanently deleted.
• **Supported files**：Videos (mp4, mkv, webm, mov, avi, m4v, flv, wmv), audio (mp3, m4a, wav, flac, opus, ogg, aac, wma, aiff, alac) and images (jpg, png, webp, gif, bmp, avif).

### ✨ Built-in Editor (New)
Open any item from the Library and edit it without leaving the app. **Your original is never changed**：every edit is saved as a new file next to it.
• **Audio**：Pull the soundtrack out of a video as MP3 or M4A, in Best or Standard quality.
• **Convert**：Change a video to MP4, WebM or MKV. Pick a resolution (or keep the original) and a quality of High, Balanced or Small. One-click presets: *Share anywhere* (720p MP4) and *Smallest file* (480p MP4).
• **GIF**：Pick a moment of up to 15 seconds, choose the width and 10, 15 or 20 fps, and preview the loop live before saving. You get a heads-up when a GIF is going to be very large.
• **Safe by design**：Edits are written to a temporary file and renamed only when they finish, so cancelling (or closing the app mid-edit) never leaves a half-written file behind.
• **Custom video player**：Space or K to play, ← → to seek 5 seconds, J / L to seek 10, M to mute, F for fullscreen, ↑ ↓ for volume, plus playback speed and click-to-pause.

Converting to H.264 no longer crawls on long videos.
• **Uses your graphics card when it is really faster**：NVIDIA, Intel and AMD on Windows, VideoToolbox on Mac, NVIDIA and Intel on Linux. The app times each option once per session and picks the winner, so a slow integrated GPU never beats a strong CPU. The GPU also helps decode large VP9 and AV1 videos.
• **CPU encoding tuned to your PC**：Low-end laptops, mid-range PCs and high-end desktops each get settings that suit them, instead of one setting for everyone.
• **Cut first, convert second**：A 2-minute clip from a 1-hour video now converts only those 2 minutes. This applies to downloads and to Cut & Download.
• **Live progress**：See the percentage, speed (for example 2.1x), time left and which encoder is working, in the progress ring, the step list and the batch queue.
• **Honest labels**：A quick compatibility fix reads "Fixing file for compatibility", and a real conversion reads "Converting to H.264".

### 🎞️ Plays & Imports Everywhere
• **Universal Video Compatibility**：Every downloaded video is now checked and, when needed, converted to 8-bit 4:2:0 H.264 (`avc1`) + AAC in an MP4 with fast-start. VP9, AV1, HEVC, 10-bit/4:4:4 video, HE-AAC/Opus audio and webm/mkv containers are all handled, so files open in QuickTime, VLC, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut and on phones.
• **No More "Audio Only" Videos**：Fixes videos that opened as audio only in QuickTime/editors and the "file contains media which isn't compatible with QuickTime Player" warning.

• **yt-dlp ENOENT Fixed**：A Windows `yt-dlp.exe` (or a Windows executable under the `yt-dlp` name) left in a Mac/Linux profile is removed and the correct build (`yt-dlp_macos`, `yt-dlp_linux`, `yt-dlp_linux_aarch64`) is fetched automatically. yt-dlp is re-checked right before every link fetch and download.
• **yt-dlp Now Installs on Mac & Linux**：The freshly downloaded yt-dlp wasn't marked executable before its safety check, so the check always failed and the file was never installed, which caused `spawn … yt-dlp ENOENT` on macOS. It is now made executable first.
• **No More First-Launch Race**：If you pasted a link while yt-dlp was still downloading on the first run, the request failed. It now waits for the running download instead of erroring.
• **Subtitles & Spotify Check yt-dlp Too**：Subtitle downloads and Spotify track downloads now make sure yt-dlp is ready before starting, like every other download.
• **ffprobe on macOS**：On Mac, FFmpeg and ffprobe are separate downloads, and a missing ffprobe silently skipped video compatibility conversion. A missing ffprobe is now fetched on its own, at startup and before downloads.
• **Oversized Menu-Bar Icon**：The tray/menu-bar icon is now scaled per OS instead of showing a huge, cropped icon on macOS.
• **Homebrew & Snap Tools Found**：Apps launched from Finder or a desktop launcher couldn't see Homebrew/snap installs of FFmpeg, Deno or Node. They are now detected.
• **Browser Extension Setup**：The native-messaging host is now registered for Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Chromium and Opera on macOS/Linux, and one missing browser folder no longer stops the others from registering.

### 🛠️ Reliability
• **Safer yt-dlp Update Button**：Updating from Settings no longer deletes the working yt-dlp before the new one is downloaded. If the update fails, your current version keeps working.

### 🎨 Design
• **New TikTok Icon**：A sharper, redrawn TikTok icon with the cyan and red glitch shadows and no background box. It adapts to the active/inactive tab colors and is used in the platform bar and on the TikTok screen.
