Notes de la versió

0.42.0 - 2026-10-13
Read Changed before updating: element patterns now use a regular
expression dialect with no backreferences or lookaround. New: tabs can be
reordered, Copy for agent puts a reference to almost anything in the app
on the clipboard for an MCP agent, and a data-driven run records which file
drove it. This release also fixes several cases where a concurrent write,
a purge or an update lost data.
Added
- Reorder tabs. Drag a tab along the strip, or press Alt+Arrow, Alt+Home
or Alt+End on a focused tab. The palette can move the active tab left or
right.
- Copy for agent. Rows, tabs, detail headers and the palette can copy a
one-line reference that an MCP agent resolves with its tools: a request,
collection, environment, run, run comparison, inbox capture, mock server,
trash entry, example, variable, spec operation, run sample, element or
threshold. The reference names the item and never copies a value.
- MCP agents gain get_request, which reads one request by id, and
get_app_focus, which reports the open tab and the active environment.
- A data-driven run records its data file's name and a hash of its
contents. History shows Data: users.csv, adds (file changed since
this run) or (file no longer at that path) when that applies, and
the dashboard header shows the row count. The file's path is not stored.
- Element rows in a run show how long a timer waited and a transaction's
name.
- On macOS and Linux, Vayu appears in Open With for .json, .yaml and
.yml files, without becoming their default app. On macOS it also accepts
them dropped on its Dock icon.
- extract.json accepts keys with a hyphen ($.data.user-id), and every
element JSONPath field accepts bracketed names ($['a.b']).
Security
- With Write access off, run_request no longer saves what an agent's
extractors or scripts set to the globals, an environment or a collection.
They still run and report.
- With Reveal secrets to agents off, run output no longer shows the value
of a credential-named query parameter (api_key, for instance), and a
refused collection or scenario run no longer repeats the resolved URL to
the agent.
Changed
- Element patterns use RE2. A large response could crash the engine
through extract.regex, assert.contains, assert.jsonpath or a
control.if match, taking every run with it; patterns now run in linear
time on any body size. A pattern with a backreference or lookaround,
including one from a JMeter import, reports invalid regular expression
when it runs. (?i), (?s) and (?m) now work. See
Elements.
- Picking a file in the Data tab, Run collection or Load test
declares its columns as the collection's data contract, and Remove
clears it. Before, the old columns stayed until Re-declare.
- A send that fails without a response (a timeout or refused connection)
keeps the response tabs, so the request sent, its headers and its timings
stay readable.
- When the tab limit is reached, the tab you used least recently closes, not
the one opened first.
- Autosave no longer retries, every minute, a save the engine refused.
- Match system accent no longer overwrites the scheme you picked, which
returns when you turn it off.
- The engine API refuses malformed run and send settings (a null setting,
an out-of-range iteration count, rate, ramp or timeout, a non-string id,
an integer setting with trailing text, a monitor block on a collection
run) with an error naming the field.
Fixed
- Purging a trashed folder could delete a live folder that had been
created or moved into it. A trashed collection is now refused as a
parent, and a purge removes only trashed items.
- A send, stream or collection run could revert a variable written while
it ran by the app, an agent or another send. Only what the run itself
changed is saved now.
- On Windows, installing an update asked to close a running Vayu and then
force-closed it mid-shutdown, risking unsaved edits.
- Two transfers sharing a cookie scope no longer drop each other's cookies.
- Retention no longer deletes a run pinned as a baseline during its sweep,
and an import no longer overwrites globals saved at the same moment.
- A rate-limited load run kept a CPU core busy for its whole length; a
constant_rps 2000 run now uses about a sixth of the CPU it did. At low
rates the first request after an idle spell no longer waits a full
interval.
- A load test's dashboard: a failed run shows Failed, a run whose stream
dropped stays live with its Stop button, a running run opened from
History shows progress, a run an agent started shows its mode, URL and
method, and the live chart keeps the retention chosen in Settings.
- History's type and status filters cover every run, not only the loaded
page; a failed chart or server-vitals fetch shows an error with Try
again; Save as request uses the name an agent gave the run.
- A custom counter recorded only with zeros counted as never recorded, so a
threshold on it failed the run; a negative increment is now refused.
- An OpenAPI 3.0 nullable reference no longer reports a valid null as
invalid. A Postman item whose request is a bare URL imports with that URL.
- A load run with inline pre-request scripts no longer warns that they were
skipped.
- Quitting with an edit the editor declined to save now asks before closing,
and Reset or Take theirs no longer flashes Saved.
- Failed environment create, rename, duplicate and delete, and a failed
reorder, now say so. A failed rename keeps what you typed.
- The sidebar's new-request button targets the same collection as the
palette; the collection picker shows each folder's parent path.
- Expanded element rows and a drawer closed with Cmd/Ctrl+B stay that way
across tab switches. An accent picked in Settings > Appearance is no longer
reverted by a theme toggle.
- Starting a stream no longer shows the previous response after a tab
switch, and code snippets refresh after an edit is saved.
- Loading lists show a placeholder rather than "No captures yet", "No
cookies stored" or a zero count; the Clear captures? prompt counts the
whole inbox; confirmations read correctly for one item.
- The Variables pane states the real precedence: environment over
collection over globals.
- Settings search finds Client certificates and Connection test.
Reset app settings also turns off Match system accent.
- On startup, an engine left hung by an earlier session is replaced instead
of failing with "Port 9876 is already in use"; update checks and, on
macOS, reopening a closed window work before the engine is ready.
- Accessibility: settings choices are named radio groups whose selection
follows the arrow keys, the tab strip and side rails keep one Tab stop,
the environment switcher is named by its visible text, and the info dots
are easier to hit. Dividers inside cards show in dark mode.
- install.sh retries the checksum download instead of aborting, and
updating with it no longer leaves the engine running when an edit fails to
save on quit.
- Internal: refactors, dependency updates and documentation kept in step with
all of the above.
Every asset carries a build-provenance attestation: gh attestation verify <asset> --repo athrvk/vayu.
