Notes de la versió
0.40.0 - 2026-10-05
Read Security and Changed before updating. This version closes a
hole that let a web page open in your browser drive the engine, restricts
what a request may send and read on your machine, and upgrades the workspace
database again. It is also the first release that no longer migrates a data
directory left by 0.36 or earlier. The rest is hardening of the app window
and the release pipeline, and a handful of UI fixes.
Security
- A web page in your browser can no longer reach the engine. Vayu's local
API answered any website, so a page you visited while Vayu was running could
read every stored variable, including secrets, and change settings. The
engine now refuses browser requests outright; Vayu's own window is the only
one it serves. (GHSA-4mxh-5785-5q32)
- Only http and https URLs are sent, in a request, a run, a redirect
and pm.sendRequest. A file:/// URL used to return the file's contents
as the response.
- A file a request names is sent only if you chose it in this app or it lies
under a folder you allowed. Earlier versions could be told the file was
chosen by whoever wrote the collection.
- Settings > Files refuses /, a drive root, your home folder and any
folder that contains it. An existing entry of that kind is removed on
upgrade and the engine log says which.
- The HTML Preview runs no script and loads nothing from the network. A
page that drew its styles or images from a CDN now renders plain. Links in
it stay inert, and the "links are disabled" tooltip is gone.
- The app window carries a Content Security Policy and refuses every device
permission request, and the chart tooltip renders metric names as text.
- Release installers are built with provenance attestations, every GitHub
Actions step is pinned to a commit, and install.sh verifies what it
downloads and stops if it cannot.
Changed
- The workspace database moves to schema version 4. Once 0.40.0 opens a
workspace, earlier versions refuse it, so going back to 0.39 means restoring
a backup. The upgrade writes a copy of the database beside it first.
- The data directory is no longer migrated from vayu-client. 0.37
through 0.39 renamed the directory left by 0.36 and earlier. Upgrading from
0.36 or earlier straight to this version starts with an empty workspace;
install any 0.37 to 0.39 release first, or rename vayu-client to Vayu
in your app data directory yourself.
- A request that cannot be sent because of its URL reports Couldn't send to
this URL and names the reason.
Fixed
- Typing in the Params table re-rendered every row on each keystroke.
- Holding a keyboard shortcut to resize a pane saved the layout on every key
repeat.
- The dashboard header redrew on every metrics tick.
- Menus, dialogs and the markdown editor reserved a dead strip on their right
edge for a scrollbar that never appears there.
- A few icon buttons and compact controls were smaller than every other
control; they match now.
- The macOS update command Vayu prints matches the documented one.
- Internal: documentation kept in step with all of the above, and the
repository gained role definitions for the agents that help maintain it.
Every asset carries a build-provenance attestation: gh attestation verify <asset> --repo athrvk/vayu.
