Several tabs open a built-in Windows program for you: File Explorer to show a file, Control Panel, Device
Manager, Event Viewer. SysManager now always opens the real one from the Windows folder, instead of asking
Windows to look up the name and trusting whatever it finds.
Fixed
- The built-in Windows programs SysManager opens are now named by their full location. Ten places asked
Windows to find a program by name alone — File Explorer when you use "Show in folder" in Disk Analyzer,
Duplicate Finder, Deep Cleanup, Startup, Logs and the update screen; Control Panel, Sound, Power Options,
Device Manager and the rest of the Legacy Panels tab; and Event Viewer from Logs. Looking a name up is not
the same as finding the right program: Windows checks places that any program running as you can add
entries to, so the name could have been pointed at something else entirely. It never was, and none of this
needed fixing urgently, but SysManager is often run as administrator, and anything it opens then starts
with those same rights. Every one of these now names the actual file in the Windows folder, so there is
nothing to look up. Nothing changes in what you see or click.
- A check now stops this being reintroduced. These ten were only found by searching for them, and nothing
would have stopped an eleventh being added later. The build now refuses any new code that opens a program
by name alone.

This build is not code-signed, so Windows will warn on first launch. That is
expected for a small independent app: see what the warning says and what to
click.
Code signing is planned through the SignPath Foundation,
which provides free certificates to open-source projects, with signing performed by
SignPath.io. Until then, the SHA256 above and the build
attestation below are what establish that a download is the genuine build.
Code signing policy
This release is not code-signed. The team roles, release-approval process and
privacy policy required by the SignPath Foundation programme
are documented in advance under Code signing
policy. That
documentation is a prerequisite for applying, not evidence of a certificate. The
attribution line naming SignPath as the signing provider will appear here once a
certificate is actually issued.
This program will not transfer any information to other networked systems unless
specifically requested by the user or the person installing or operating it. Full
privacy policy.
Verify where this binary came from
This exe was built by GitHub Actions from this public source, and the build is
recorded in the Sigstore public transparency log. With the
GitHub CLI:
gh attestation verify .\SysManager-v1.75.18.exe --repo laurentiu021/SystemManager
That proves which commit and workflow produced this exact binary, something the
SHA256 file cannot show, since it is published alongside the exe it describes.
Each release also ships SysManager-v1.75.18.sbom.json, a CycloneDX inventory of
every dependency resolved for this build.
