Includes fixes to DFweb, DFexplore, and DFdiscover server to resolve important issues affecting CRF attachments, data exports, reports, server-side data task retrieval, and image processing.
- Fixed an issue where DICOM files (dicom, dcm, and dic file formats) could not be uploaded as CRF attachments in DFweb on Windows.
- Fixed a bug where exporting multiple views to CSV or text from DFexplore’s Custom Export or DFexport could fail and close the session.
- Resolved a server-side issue where certain data tasks combining subject criteria and expressions failed to return matching records during cross-plate retrieval due to a size limit error.
- Fixed a bug where running DFreport via script to export HTML reports could cause the process to abort without generating the expected report.
- Resolved an issue where certain inbound PDF submissions could fail to be processed. DFinbound.rpc now uses system Ghostscript when available, ensuring reliable PDF-to-image conversion. Ghostscript version gs-9.27 or gs-9.52 is required.
- Fixed an issue where DFfile2image omitted annotations when converting PDF files to images, resulting in incomplete copies. Annotations are now correctly retained during image processing.
Known Issue
- On some systems, certain PDF files processed for image-based data entry may produce a lower-quality standard-definition image. The corresponding high-definition image is available at the expected quality and can be used to clearly view the CRF.

Includes fixes to DFdiscover server, DFexplore, DFweb, DFcollect, and documentation to resolve known issues and fix reported bugs.
Server & Desktop
- Resolved an issue where time fields in DFexplore required users to manually enter the colon separator instead of accepting numbers only. Time fields now auto-format numeric input as expected, matching prior 5.10 behavior.
- Page labels now fully support multiple field substitutions per label as defined in the Page Map, for example displaying both the AE term and date in the Adverse Event page label. The Study Setup User Guide’s Page Map section has also been updated.
- An issue was resolved in DFsetup where the app could become unresponsive after closing the Preview dialog in the field help editor.
- Fixed a server-side issue where saving license-related configuration, such as feature limits or the number of administrator seats, could reset the recorded usage for users who were already connected.
- Fixed a server-side issue where changes to the 2FA method (Email/SMS) in DFadmin did not persist for ePRO user accounts created prior to version 5.11 when no other user settings were modified simultaneously.
DFweb
- Fixed an issue where DFweb treated CRF fields containing only delimiters as non-empty, causing incorrect reason values, unnecessary save warnings, and bypassed required field checks. Delimiter-only values are now cleared before processing.
- Fixed an issue in DFweb where dfneed results from the DFopen_patient_binder edit check were not applied to visits added to the subject binder after saving a CRF at a repeating visit. New visits now correctly reflect dfneed changes.
- Fixed an issue in DFweb where a user could not attach a document to a data record at a workflow level outside their write permissions. The data record’s workflow level is now updated when the attachment is saved.
- Improved DFweb form navigation on Android tablets by replacing the keyboard Next action with Done. This keeps the active field and input focus synchronized when moving through data fields on a page.
- DFweb now trims leading and trailing whitespace from the username field before submitting login credentials, preventing authentication failures caused by inadvertent spaces (e.g., when copying and pasting a username).
DFcollect
- Fixed an issue where DFcollect automatically added zero padding to numeric field values when no format was defined. Behaviour now matches DFexplore and DFweb, which accept and display values as entered without padding when no format is specified.
- Fixed an issue where the Reset action in DFcollect displayed the same generic confirmation regardless of data state. The app now detects unsynced local changes and displays an explicit warning to prevent unintended data loss before reset.
- Fixed an issue in DFcollect where field prompts for string, number, time, and date field types displayed only the first line of text in CRF view. All field prompts now support multi-line wrapping, displaying up to 1500 characters.
- Fixed an issue in DFcollect where page labels in the subject binder view did not correctly resolve page map field value substitutions (%n, %n:d), displaying blank or placeholder values instead.

DFdiscover 2026 Version 5.11 adds new capabilities and improvements that make clinical data management more efficient, secure, and reliable. It builds on the strong foundation of recent updates while adding new capabilities for participant engagement and improving system security, stability, and usability.
Key features and enhancements in this release include:
- ePRO Notification Configuration: DFdiscover now supports custom reminders for participants using the DFengage ePRO mobile app, configured through DFsetup, enabling custom notification content and timing, complete with multi-language support. These reminders are delivered through push notifications on the participant’s device.
- Disable Edit Checks Setting in DFweb: Authorized users can now manually disable edit checks in DFweb via the Settings page, providing more control for specialized scenarios such as training and testing.
- DFcollect Device Requirement Updates: DFcollect has received several stability & maintenance updates. This has resulted in updated device requirements: tablets must be running Android® 10 or later or iPadOS®/iOS® 16 or later to install DFcollect 5.11.
- Optional, Region-Limited SMS Support for 2FA: System administrators now have the option to enable SMS on their DFdiscover server to enable delivery of security codes for 2FA via text message instead of email to specified users in supported regions. The default configuration supports SMS to North American phone numbers only, but servers can be configured with a different Azure SMS sender to support a different region.
- Security Enhancements: Various improvements have been made to ensure the security of the system and your data, including enhanced messaging for connectivity issues in DFweb, improved protection against attacks via uploaded PDFs in DFweb, and ability for system administrators to control which DFdiscover servers can connect to an API instance.
- Framework Upgrade: DFdiscover’s core application framework has been upgraded, improving long-term maintainability and positioning the software for ongoing performance and compatibility enhancements.
