Improvements
- Building the backup set database (needed after "adopting" a backup set) is much faster for large backup sets.
- Improved OneDrive performance in the case of unstable or slow internet connectivity.
- Updated the Mega S4 region picker to use the latest endpoints. Existing Mega S4 storage locations are unaffected.
- Budget enforcement now removes unreferenced data first, so that the stored size is measured accurately before any backup records are deleted. The stored size before and after enforcement is logged.
- The Arq Premium storage dashboard's note about deleting oldest backup records now makes clear that this happens only if a storage budget is set.
- When adding an S3-compatible storage location, if the URL entered includes the bucket name as part of the host name (for example https://mybucket.s3.nl-ams.scw.cloud, as shown in Scaleway's console), Arq now removes the bucket name and uses the provider's endpoint.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a backup plan's sidebar icon staying frozen at "play" after the Arq window reconnected to the Arq7Agent service while a backup was running, even after the backup finished with errors.
- Fixed a backup run that failed during its cleanup steps (stopping workers, deleting VSS snapshots, running the postflight script) being recorded as still in progress.
- Fixed the Arq window showing stale state when the service failed to deliver a status update to it. The service now closes the connection instead, and the window reconnects and reloads everything.
- Fixed in-progress backup records never being deleted from storage locations with immutable backup records. Arq now leaves an in-progress backup record alone until its immutability period has ended, and deletes it on the next backup after that.
- Fixed backup plans whose storage location had already been deleted still appearing in ArqMonitor's menu and in "arqc listBackupPlans", and still running on schedule, even though the Arq window didn't show them. The Arq7Agent service now deactivates such plans when it starts.
- Fixed new backup plans on Scaleway Object Storage (and other S3-compatible providers that declare XML namespaces differently than the way AWS does it) failing with "Backup plan has no encryption key" or "Backup set directory ... is missing or empty", because Arq's parsing of the object listing found no objects.
- Fixed a missing object encountered while initializing the backup set database during a back-up-and-validate run being recorded as a backup error. That blocked retention rules and budget enforcement and forced a full rescan on the next backup. Arq now logs the unreadable backup record and continues, as it does in a normal backup.

Improvements
- Improved the way cached data is managed, reducing the amount of cached data stored over time.
- The Budget/Stored Size row in the main window now shows the current stored size, refreshed while a backup is running and again when it finishes.
- Google Cloud Storage: Arq now refreshes its access token before it expires instead of waiting for a request to fail. A token that expired in the middle of a large upload previously caused the whole upload to be retried, which could be time-consuming.
- Arq Pro: computers managed by an Arq Pro group no longer show the "update available" notification when auto-update is off, since updates are controlled from the Arq Pro console.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed the Arq7Agent service becoming unresponsive to the Service Control Manager (Windows event 7011) during a Remote Desktop logon. Arq7Agent asked Windows for device-arrival notifications for every device interface class, so RDP device redirection (the client's drives, printers, smart cards and ports) delivered a burst of notifications Arq had no use for. Arq now registers for volume notifications only; removable-drive detection is unchanged.
- Fixed a failed read of the previous backup's directory data being reported as a backup error. That skipped thinning and budget enforcement and forced a full rescan on the next run, which could make a transient failure repeat indefinitely. Arq now logs the failure to the activity log and backs the directory up as new.
- Fixed a race at the end of a backup where the pass that computes the progress-bar totals could still be reading backup records that retention thinning, budget enforcement, or unreferenced-data removal had just deleted. This also fixes the progress bar dropping to zero during cleanup on plans whose scan hadn't finished.
- Fixed the emailed backup report showing 0 for scanned bytes and files when the scan-ahead pass hadn't finished.
- Fixed a backup plan's "last backed up" date being updated by an aborted backup, which could silence the "no backups in N days" alert.
- Fixed a backup plan's "last backed up" date never being updated when every backup was a back-up-and-validate run. This affected plans backed up to folder, SFTP, or pCloud destinations less often than every 30 days, such as rotating removable disks, and caused false "no backups in N days" alerts.
- Fixed retry loops for Google Cloud Storage, Google token refresh, OneDrive, and pCloud that could retry a failing request indefinitely on certain network errors. Arq now gives up after a bounded time, while still waiting out genuine network outages.

Bug Fixes
- Fixed an active backup plan disappearing from the Back Up list, from the Arq Monitor menu, and from "arqc" when another backup plan record referred to the same backup set. This could happen after adopting a backup set, or after re-pointing a backup plan to a different destination over time. The plan kept backing up on schedule throughout — only its display was affected, and no backup data was lost.

Improvements
- pCloud uploads now retry transient errors for several minutes before giving up, improving reliability when pCloud is temporarily unavailable.
- Added a workaround for Cloudflare R2 which isn't quite S3-compatible -- it returns an x-amz-version-id response header on object writes even though the object isn't versioned.
Changes
- Arq now logs the S3 bucket versioning status at the start of each backup.

Improvements
- pCloud uploads now retry transient errors with backoff for improved reliability.
Changes
- The Arq Cloud storage-usage badge in the main window no longer adds "!" / "!!" warning markers when usage exceeds the included 1 TB.

Muutosloki
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a regression introduced in 7.44.0.0 in which fully-downloaded cloud-files-API ("Files On-Demand") files — Dropbox, OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, iCloud-on-Windows, Box, Google Drive, and other CFAPI sync providers — were in some cases backed up as their placeholder metadata instead of the file's actual content. Arq now backs up the file's content for hydrated CFAPI files. Arq re-reads each affected file once, then resumes normal incremental backups.

Improvements
- When a cloud-files sync provider (OneDrive, Dropbox) is offline and Arq cannot enumerate a cloud-placeholder directory, the failure is now handled per the backup plan's dataless-files policy: "Ignore" silently skips the directory, "Error" records a per-directory error, and "Materialize" logs that the directory could not be materialized. (There is no Windows API to force-populate a dataless directory beyond the enumeration call itself, so "Materialize" on a failed enumeration is best-effort and reports an error.)
- Added "Skipped dataless file" and "Skipped dataless directory" lines to the activity log when the dataless-files policy is set to "Ignore", so users can audit what was omitted from a backup.
- When a pCloud upload fails with a size or sha1 mismatch (pCloud occasionally stores fewer bytes than were sent) or a transient network error, Arq now retries the upload (up to 8 non-transient attempts) instead of failing the whole backup record. Cancellation is honored within one retry iteration.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed OneDrive and Dropbox folders being silently skipped when the backup plan's dataless-files policy was set to "Ignore", even when every file inside was fully downloaded locally. Arq now always recurses into cloud-managed (CFAPI) directories regardless of the folder's cloud-placeholder reparse tag; the per-file dataless-files policy still governs whether individual dataless files are skipped, errored, or materialized. Behavior change: users on "Ignore" who previously had whole OneDrive/Dropbox subtrees omitted from their backup will now see the locally-present files inside those trees backed up. Note: backing up a OneDrive folder that has never been opened locally may stall up to 60 seconds while OneDrive populates the placeholder listing.
- Fixed reading reparse points (directory junctions, symbolic links, cloud placeholders) at paths longer than 260 characters failing with "The system cannot find the path specified." (HRESULT 0x80070003).
7.43.0.0 14. toukokuuta 2026 15,9 Mt 32-bittinen MSI 15,9 Mt

New Features
- Added a backup plan option to specify whether to report, ignore, or materialize dataless ("cloud-only") files such as OneDrive Files On-Demand and Dropbox files. When set to "Materialize", Arq triggers the user's sync engine to hydrate the file before reading it. A free-disk-space safety gate skips materialize when free space drops below a configurable threshold.

Improvements
- pCloud uploads are now additionally verified by fetching the file's checksum from pCloud after upload and comparing it to the expected value. This was added after a case where pCloud failed to save all bytes of a file; the post-upload checksum check (suggested by pCloud support) confirms pCloud has received and stored the file correctly.
- Log the backup plan's immutability settings (object-lock days range) to the activity log when a backup starts.
- Prefix B2 error messages with "B2 error:" in the activity log so the source of the error is clear.
- Color the budget progress bar in the backup-plan detail view based on usage; the bar turns red when the plan is over budget.
- Confirm before sending the agent log to support.
- Preserve expanded items in the backup record's tree view across re-selection of the same backup record.
- Disable the "Exclude" and "Reveal in Explorer" buttons in the activity errors view when the selected error has no file path.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed active backup plans disappearing from the UI on databases where the SQL plan_uuid column was empty. Plans are now deduped in memory by the planUUID loaded from JSON, then re-sorted by creation date.
- Fixed the Arq Cloud storage dashboard showing "Inactive" for a plan that was actually active when more than one backup_plans row shared the same plan UUID. AllBackupPlans now returns one row per plan UUID, picking the row with the newest updated_time.
- On a GCS retention 403 during cleanup, parse the retain-until time out of the error message and update the local locked_until so the same blob is not re-attempted every cleanup cycle.
- Match the backup plan's WiFi network names case-insensitively when deciding whether the current network is included.
- Rename the Arq Premium storage location after a trial converts to paid (it was still showing "Arq Cloud Storage free trial" after payment).

Bug Fixes
- Fixed the backup-plan detail view still saying "Y GB budget (not yet backed up)" after the first backup. The budget row now updates immediately when the backup set is initialized.
- Fixed the budget progress bar in the backup-plan detail view overlapping the value text. The bar is now anchored to the right edge and the value text expands with the window width.
- Fixed budget enforcement on all-drives backup plans, which previously logged "No backup records available to delete" without making any progress.
- Cleanup of unreferenced data now skips objects whose object-lock retention has not yet expired, avoiding long cleanup runs.

New Features
- Added Arq Premium storage dashboard with usage bar, backup set table, and recommendations.
- Show Arq Premium stored size in the main window.
- Added a new activity errors view on the activity detail panel, with per-run error capture, a severity column, and buttons to exclude or reveal the item in Explorer.
- Per-file backup errors are now classified by severity and summarized as a red/orange/green status on the activity list and backup-record views. The Activity detail view shows an error table with "Exclude" and "Reveal in Finder" actions.
- Added support for reading the latest macOS backup format (tree version 4), including Finder "Date Added", APFS document IDs, and sparse-file metadata.
- Added a "Download Last Included Version..." flow that appears when a license's update period has expired or the user tries to activate a too-old license, so the user can roll back to the most recent build covered by their license without having to hunt for an installer.
Improvements
- Back up unrecognized reparse points (Microsoft Store APPEXECLINK, WSL AF_UNIX/LX_*, ProjFS, etc.) by capturing their raw reparse data instead of failing with "Unexpected reparse-point type".
- Arq now detects when an Arq Premium computer has been removed from the subscription and offers to re-add it.
- Show the plan-created date in the active backup plan detail pane.
- Loaded the activities list on a background thread during startup to improve launch responsiveness.
- Moved OAuth storage location checks to a background thread.
- Log total stored size before and after cleanup in the activity log.
- Upload Arq Premium stats after a "Remove Unreferenced Objects" cleanup so the storage dashboard reflects the new size right away.
- Added support for TLS email servers as well as STARTTLS, and replaced the STARTTLS checkbox on the Report tab with a None/STARTTLS/TLS combo box.
- Upgraded MailKit from 4.7.0 to 4.16.0 to pick up a security fix.
- Verify pCloud uploads by checking the file size in the upload-file response metadata.
- Switched Windows AES-CBC encryption to use Windows CAPI (AesCryptoServiceProvider), enabling AES-NI hardware acceleration on Intel/AMD CPUs.
- Refresh the Arq Premium sidebar badge on activity updates and when the storage location node is expanded, so stored size stays current during long backups and after deletes.
- Fixed an issue which could lead to long-term memory growth in ArqAgent.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed "HMAC of agent response doesn't match expected" errors caused by a date-format mismatch between the agent and the UI.
- Prevented adding a network volume with a path that matches an existing network volume (duplicate UNC path).
- GCS (Google Cloud Storage) backups with the "immutable" option no longer report an error when deleting in-progress backup records that are subject to the bucket's retention policy. Cleanup of unreferenced pack files and unpacked blobs no longer surfaces GCS retention-policy errors either.
- Refuse to restore Microsoft Store APPEXECLINK reparse points up-front with a clear "reinstall the Store app" message instead of failing later with ERROR_INVALID_FUNCTION.
- The "Computer removed from subscription" dialog no longer pops up twice for the same backup run.
- Hide the Enter License Code button for Arq Premium trial users, and right-align the Buy Now button in the trial footer when the Enter License Code button is hidden.
- Show stored size of 0 (instead of nothing) when an Arq Premium backup plan has not yet reported to the server.

New Features
- Added support for immutable backups using Google Cloud Storage.
- Added a "Recover" button for storage locations that support immutable backups. Clicking "Recover" causes Arq to scan the backup set and attempt to recover all objects that have been "deleted" ("delete marker" created in S3, or "live" item deleted in Google Cloud Storage).
- Enabled periodic back-up-and-validate for pCloud backup plans.
Improvements
- Updated MimeKit from 4.15.0 to 4.15.1 which has a security fix.
- When editing a backup plan, if "Include" is selected for network interfaces (or WiFi networks) but the list is empty, Arq now shows a warning before saving.
- Updated the encryption-password prompt to remind users to save the password in a password manager.
- Added a "Learn More" link when object lock is not available for the chosen storage location.
