- A first native iPhone version of AccessiWeather, built for VoiceOver, with current conditions, forecasts, alerts, saved locations and settings.
- The iPhone app now plays sound pack cues for refreshes and alerts, with a Sounds section in Settings to pick a pack and mute events.
- The iPhone app can stream the nearest NOAA Weather Radio stations from the Weather tab, with Lock Screen controls.
- The iPhone app now supports Pirate Weather, forecast explanations, forecaster notes, weather history, UV and air quality details, aviation reports, an Event Center, and warning radio auto-tune.
- The iPhone app now checks for alerts in the background and notifies you, merges NWS, Open-Meteo and Pirate Weather in Automatic mode, and adds marine mode, national products, AirNow, aviation advisories and a Weather Assistant.
- You can now get alert notifications for all saved locations, not just the selected one, and each names its location. Turn it on in Settings, Alerts tab.
- You can now have the weather read aloud on a schedule, such as every half hour, from Tools > Scheduled Readings.
- Add Location now has a Country to search in filter, starting on your computer's region, and results show each place's region and country.
- You can now add a location by typing its coordinates, such as 1.35, 103.82, into Add Location.
- View > Local Readings shows official readings from the nearest stations worldwide, plus Singapore NEA rain, haze and forecasts and German DWD observations.
- First-run setup now asks which units you want, and new installs show units that match each location instead of Fahrenheit first.
- Air quality now uses the European AQI for European locations, with a Settings choice to always use US or European AQI.
- The Air Quality window lists each pollutant's level and index category, and says whether each reading is observed or modelled, with its source.
- Add a free OpenAQ API key in Settings to see measured readings from the nearest air monitor, with AirNow or the forecast model as a fallback.
- You can now get a notification when air quality reaches a level you choose; turn it on in Settings, Alerts tab.
Changed
- AccessiWeather is now rebuilt in Rust as a native app for Windows, macOS and Linux, and updating keeps your saved locations and settings.
- The OpenRouter model picker drops the retired Llama 3.3 70B option; choose the free router, the paid auto router, or browse models.
Fixed
- Searching a 5-digit postcode outside the US, such as 50000 for Kuala Lumpur, no longer gets turned into a US ZIP code.
- Sounds now follow your default output device when you switch between headphones and speakers, instead of staying on the old one.
- AccessiWeather no longer opens a terminal window alongside the app on Windows.
- Portable updates on Windows no longer open a command window while they install.
- NOAA Weather Radio now loads its station list and stream links from the WeatherIndex directory, so new and retired stations stay current instead of relying on a stale built-in list.
- The radio finder now shows transmitter status: degraded stations say so, and out-of-service ones appear only with Show unavailable stations on.
- AI error messages now distinguish invalid keys, depleted credits, denied access, unavailable models, rate limits, connection or timeout failures, and model refusals across the Weather Assistant and explanation views, without displaying raw provider errors.
- After an AI summary finishes, keyboard focus moves to the result when Explain was focused; failed Weather Assistant questions return to the input for editing, and key errors point to the correct AI settings tab.
- AI explanations now use your updated custom prompt and instructions immediately, and the Weather Assistant checks alerts for the selected place even when a model supplies an ambiguous location. It also reports when an alert shown in the app is missing from the live point lookup.
- OpenRouter key validation now checks the key without gene |

- The show, hide and read-tray hotkeys now default to Ctrl+Alt+Shift+W, M and I, so they no longer steal Ctrl+Shift shortcuts from your browser or screen reader.
- Edit Location is now F2, and NOAA Weather Radio opens with Ctrl+N.
- AccessiWeather tells you when another program already owns a window or tray hotkey, instead of failing silently. Windows only.
- A shortcut Settings won't accept now gets focus along with the message, so you can fix it right away. |

- Browse and pick Venice text models in AI settings, with token prices, cost and function-calling filters, and your credit balance when your key allows.
- A Get Venice API key button in AI settings opens Venice's signup and API settings page.
- Choose Venice AI for weather explanations and the Weather Assistant with your own key and prepaid credits; OpenRouter stays the default.
- Choose wind speed units (mph, km/h or m/s) separately from temperature units in Settings; Explain Weather follows the choice.
- Reorder saved locations from the Location menu; the order survives restarts.
- Set shortcuts in Advanced Settings to restore the window, hide it to the tray, and read tray information, which work while hidden on Windows.
- Ctrl+Shift+L now opens Edit Location.
- Start and stop NOAA Weather Radio from anywhere with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R, even with AccessiWeather in the tray (Windows only).
- Rebind the radio hotkey on the General tab in Settings, or clear the field to turn it off.
- AccessiWeather now keeps a log file in a logs folder next to your settings, so there's something to send when reporting a problem.
- A portable copy keeps its logs inside the portable folder.
- Automatic updates now work on Linux from the AppImage, the same way they do on Windows.
- Running from the tarball, AccessiWeather downloads and verifies the update and tells you where the file is and how to finish installing it.
- Linux releases now include an AppImage that runs on Fedora, Ubuntu, Arch, openSUSE and other distros; mark it executable and run it.
- US locations can use official EPA AirNow observations for current air quality when you add your AirNow API key in Settings.
- A Validate AirNow key button on the Data Sources tab tests your key and tells you whether it works.
Changed
- The Venice model browser's Provider filter lists the model vendors, such as Anthropic, OpenAI and Google, instead of a single Venice entry.
- The AI settings tab shows only the key and model fields for the provider you've selected.
Fixed
- Weather Assistant requests live weather more reliably with Venice and OpenRouter, keeps lookup results for follow-up questions, and gets complete measurements with observation times.
- NWS lookups now follow coordinate-precision redirects instead of falling back to another weather source.
- Weather Assistant can find international locations instead of only U.S. places with similar names.
- Creating a fresh settings file keeps API keys already saved on your computer available in Settings.
- NWS feels-like temperatures use calculated wind chill or heat index when observations leave them out.
- Explain Weather follows your selected units, including automatic location-based units.
- NOAA Weather Radio auto-tune no longer starts for alerts a real weather radio would sleep through; it goes by the alert's SAME code now.
- AirNow observations now reach the display, so the AQI, pollutant and observation time match AirNow.gov.
- AirNow air quality now works for US locations saved before country detection existed.
- Weather Assistant queries that need live weather let OpenRouter's free endpoint pick an available model instead of failing when a hardcoded one is retired. |
| 0.9.0 | 21. heinäkuuta 2026 | — | 64-bittinen EXE (Inno Setup)64-bittinen EXE (Inno Setup) MuutoslokiChanged
- New default sounds: The alert and notification audio has been completely replaced with a warm, gentle set of wooden-mallet tones. The old pack was full of piercing high-frequency tones - some dumping most of their energy into the harsh 3-6 kHz range - and one alert ran a jarring 12 seconds. The new sounds stay in a soft, low register (around 200-500 Hz), are short, and are grouped by severity so an advisory, a watch, a warning, and an extreme alert each sound distinct without ever being shrill. Prefer the old set? It's still available as "Classic Default", a downloadable optional pack in the sound manager, with the worst ear-piercing tones softened.
- Forecaster Notes can now show official NWS Surf Zone Forecasts for regional beaches where available, with surf/beach condition alternatives from supported global sources when an official SRF product is not available.
- AccessiWeather can now automatically tune NOAA Weather Radio for qualifying alerts that use Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) when you turn on the opt-in setting on the Alerts tab, then stop after the duration you choose when a reliable station match is available.
- NOAA Weather Radio now opens independently of saved weather locations and keeps playing after you close the player until you press Stop or exit the app.
- The NOAA Weather Radio Station Finder now has clearer modes for searching all stations, browsing by full state or territory name, and finding nearby stations by coordinates.
- NOAA Weather Radio stations can now be saved as favorites, with a Favorites finder mode and optional nearby-station lookup from your saved AccessiWeather locations.
Fixed
- Air quality, pollen, and UV readings now show the current hour instead of a forecast hour. AccessiWeather was reading the far end of Open-Meteo's multi-day hourly forecast, so the AQI, dominant pollutant, "current" pollutant breakdown, and hourly trend could all reflect a time days away rather than right now.
- The Air Quality dialog's hourly forecast now shows real clock times (like "2:00 PM") instead of generic "Hour 1" through "Hour 12" labels.
- Screen reader announcements work again in installed builds — the Weather Assistant now auto-reads replies, and other spoken announcements are back. The installer was shipping without the speech library's native component, so announcements were silently skipped.
- The {precip} and {precip_chance} tray placeholders now show real values instead of N/A. Precipitation chance comes from the current hour's forecast (observations never include it), and Open-Meteo's current precipitation amount now reaches the tray.
- Canadian locations now show barometric pressure in kilopascals, such as 101.3 kPa, when using automatic units.
- Current conditions and tray text now omit feels-like or heat-index details when they are unavailable instead of announcing them as N/A.
- "Launch automatically at startup" now survives app updates. Windows startup registration moved from a Startup-folder shortcut to the standard registry Run entry, and AccessiWeather repairs it on every launch — so an update can't silently uncheck the setting or stop the app from starting with Windows.
- The startup checkbox no longer unchecks itself when Windows is slow: checking startup status is now instant instead of relying on a PowerShell probe that could time out right after a reboot or update.
- Disabling AccessiWeather in Task Manager's Startup apps is now respected — the Settings checkbox shows it as off, and re-checking it in Settings turns it back on properly instead of appearing enabled while never launching.
- Upgrading from an older version now migrates the old Startup-folder shortcut automatically, so you won't get double launches or a stale shortcut pointing at a removed install.
- Saving Settings after turning on automatic startup now returns to the main window faster while still updating the OS startup registration.
- NOAA Weather Radio SAME auto-tune now starts again when an existi |
