|---|---|---|---|
| 4.9.3Última versión | 14 de septiembre de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónZnote 4.9.3
Bug fixes
- Windows: shell code blocks run again. Since 4.8.1, powershell, pwsh and cmd blocks failed on Windows before running any code, with an error saying chcp could not be found. Znote was passing a broken PATH to the script, so C:\Windows\System32 could no longer be found. The original PATH is now kept.
- Windows: emojis and accented characters in PowerShell blocks display correctly. Windows PowerShell 5.1 misread non-ASCII characters in a block, so 👋 was printed as 👋. Znote now saves the script in a format PowerShell reads correctly. |
| 4.9.2 | 9 de septiembre de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versión4.9.2
Fixed
- Relative image paths now resolve against the note's folder. A was only looked up from the vault root, so every note in a subfolder showed a broken image — including the common "attachments next to the note" setup. Paths are now resolved from the note's own folder first, then the vault root, then the vault file index. Applies to the live preview, note transclusions, copy-as-HTML, and the PDF/HTML export (the last two were baking the same broken paths into exported files).
- Images of the vault were invisible in the tree. They are now listed under their folder with a thumbnail, and a click opens a viewer: dimensions, size, actual-size zoom, insert into the open note, copy the markdown link, open with the default app, reveal in the file manager. The attachments folder, previously hidden, shows up as attachment storage.
- Linked external folders showed no images, not even after a refresh: mounting and refreshing a linked folder never went through the vault scan. Mount, refresh, and scan now produce the same rows; unmounting or deleting a folder drops its images along with its notes. |
| 4.9.1 | 30 de agosto de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónFixed
- Running a code block from its first lines. Cmd/Ctrl+Enter typed a newline
instead of running when the caret sat near the top of a long block, because the
runner sits at the foot of the block and had not been rendered yet. The shortcut
now brings it into view and runs the block from anywhere inside it.
- secret: references inside tables. A reference in a table cell stayed plain
inline code — no mask, no reveal, no button to fill a missing value. Table cells
now render the same secret pill as the rest of the note, and it updates when the
vault is unlocked. |
| 4.9.0 | 24 de agosto de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versión4.9.0 — Secrets, encrypted next to the note
A dev note is full of things you cannot commit: a password, a token, an Authorization header. Either the note stays out of git, or the credentials get pushed. Now neither — the note stays plain Markdown and versioned, while its sensitive values live in an encrypted file beside it.
- A reference, not a value — write secret:cisco.password in the note; the value lives in MyNote.secrets.yaml, encrypted. The Markdown never holds the secret, so the note stays safe to commit, to search, to send to the AI and to export.
- Extract what is already there — select a password in your note, right-click → Secret → Move selection to the shared secrets… (or ⌘⇧S). Znote encrypts it and leaves the reference in its place; the cleartext never round-trips through the file.
- Read it where you wrote it — a reference renders as •••••••• with a reveal and a copy without revealing button. No padlock to click: opening a note that uses secrets decrypts them.
- One panel per note — More (…) → Secrets… shows both files side by side: reveal, copy, rename, delete, or move a value between the shared and the private one. A key the note references but the file does not hold gets a row with an input already waiting.
- In code blocks — ${secret:api.token} is substituted when the block runs, through the environment, so the cleartext never reaches the temporary script file. Command output is masked before it is displayed and before it is saved back into the note.
- Standard sops + age, not a Znote format — sops decrypt MyNote.secrets.yaml works from any terminal. A generated .znote/README-secrets.md tells whoever clones the repository how.
Files that never leave your machine
- Private notes — a note matching the private pattern (local-* by default) is kept out of git and carries a local badge in the tree, because nothing else on screen would tell you it is never committed.
- Private values inside a shared note — a local: reference goes to MyNote.local.secrets.yaml, encrypted and never committed. Vault backups do include those files: they are the only copy that exists.
- The rules are written for you — Znote maintains its own block in the vault's .gitignore. And since .gitignore only governs untracked files, it also runs git rm --cached on what the rules now cover, and tells you.
A commit that still carries a password is stopped
Before a commit made from Znote, the notes about to be pushed are scanned for plaintext credentials — known token shapes (GitLab, GitHub, AWS, OpenAI…), values on a credential line, high-entropy strings. The push stops, naming the file and the line. Always allow these silences a false positive for the whole team, and stores SHA-256 hashes only, never the string itself.
This catches the slip made while working in Znote: no git hook is installed, so a commit from a terminal does not pass through it — the ignore rules above, on the other hand, apply whatever tool you use.
Setup
Install sops 3.10 or later and age, then point Settings → Secrets at your age key file. Znote never stores the key itself, only its path — and refuses a key file inside the vault, since the vault is the git repository. The ? button walks through the whole setup on macOS, Linux and Windows.

| 4.8.0 | 21 de agosto de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versión4.8.0 — Git, from the tree
If your vault is a git repository, the sidebar now drives it. No terminal.
- Refresh also fetches — the ⟳ button on All files re-reads the disk and asks the remote what changed, without touching a single file.
- Pull and push in one click — ↓ and ↑ appear only when there is something to do. ↑ stays greyed out until you have pulled, so a merge never happens behind your back.
- See what moved — each note is marked: new (A), modified here (M), deleted (D), modified on the remote (I), or both (B). A folder shows the most urgent marker below it, even collapsed.
- Conflicts never lose your work — the remote wins, but your local version is moved to the Trash first, restorable, and named in a toast.
- External folders too — a mounted folder that is its own repository gets its own buttons, branch and remote. Commits stay scoped: two repositories can sit side by side in the same window.
- Local state stays local — the trash, settings.json and metadata.json are ignored automatically, and untracked if your vault already committed them.
Znote uses the git already installed on your machine, with your existing SSH key or credential helper. It never fetches, pulls, pushes or switches branches on its own.

| 4.7.1 | 21 de agosto de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versión4.7.1
Note list view
The note list is now a view in its own right, closer to Apple Notes.
- Folder column to the left of the list: pick a folder, the list shows its notes. Collapsible from the toolbar, and resizable — it takes room from the list, not from the window.
- Tabs are hidden here, keyboard tab navigation included. They stay open in the background; going back to the tree view restores the tab bar with the active note alone.
- The folder chip above the list only shows when the folder column is collapsed, and clicking it brings the column back.
- Focus mode entered from this view no longer opens the "Open notes" panel, which lists the tabs this view hides.
Left sidebar
- Each view remembers its own width, and the sidebar can now be dragged 100px narrower, or up to 800px wide. Folder column state and widths are saved with the vault.
- Folders with no sub-folder no longer reserve space for a chevron, leaving more room for long names.
- Fixed: the note list and folder column came back at content height after a visit to the outline view (the outline panel was mis-sized too).
- Fixed: the Trash and Bookmarked rows lost their counter in a narrow sidebar, even with room to spare.
- Fixed: the bullet next to a note name was squashed by long names in a narrow sidebar.
AI
- Default provider on a fresh install is now OpenAI gpt-4.1 (empty API key), instead of a local llama3.2 that assumed Ollama was already installed.
- Fixed: a 401 answered "Have you started your local LLM?" whatever the provider. Authentication errors now point at the API key; the local-LLM hint is kept for Ollama when no server answered.
- Fixed: in the AI prompt overlay, the Down arrow erased a prompt you had not sent yet. The draft is now kept aside while you browse history, and restored on the way out. |
| 4.7.0 | 17 de agosto de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónZnote 4.7.0 — Znote for companies
This release opens Znote to teams. Until now, AI in Znote was a personal setup:
everyone brought their own key. Companies can now run it centrally, so every
employee gets AI in their notes without a key to hand out — and without anyone
losing sight of what it costs.
For companies
- Sign in to your company's organisation. From the account button in the
bottom bar, sign in with your work email. Your company's AI becomes available
in the app right away — nothing to install, no key to configure.
- A dedicated AI provider. Once signed in, your organisation shows up in the
AI provider selector as znote (Your company), alongside OpenAI, OpenRouter
and Ollama. Pick it and every AI feature — chat, @-context, tool calls,
transcription — runs through your company's setup.
- Your provider is remembered. Znote comes back on your organisation after a
restart, instead of falling back to another provider.
- Managed from the web. Administrators run their organisation from
organisation.znote.io: allowed email domains,
seats, the models teams may use, and their own OpenAI key if they prefer to
pay their provider directly. AI usage is reported per member, so the cost is
known before the invoice.
Improvements
- Redesigned account popup: your organisation and email are readable at a
glance, long addresses no longer stretch the window, and it follows the light
and dark themes.
- Clearer AI provider selector, with a shortcut to the AI settings when no
provider is configured yet.
Getting started
Individuals: nothing changes — keep using your own key (OpenAI, OpenRouter, or
100% local with Ollama).
Companies: create your organisation at
organisation.znote.io, invite a first team, and
see the real usage before deciding anything. Details on
znote.io/company.html. |
| 4.6.0 | 9 de agosto de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónZnote 4.6.0 — UI improvements
New
- Rename a vault folder from the treeview, via the right-click menu. The folder is renamed on disk, and the notes it contains — including those in its subfolders — follow automatically.
- New "Accent on selection" setting (Settings → Editor → Interface). Shows a colored bar on the selected item: note, folder, active tab, settings menu, and the AI overlay's border. Off by default.
- Close button in the AI overlay. It could previously only be dismissed with the keyboard (Esc).
Interface
- AI overlay — the four-color gradient border is replaced by a quiet frame; the accent now lights up only while the overlay is engaged (typing a prompt, or an answer streaming). The input loses its redundant inner outline, and the floating button no longer overlaps the overlay.
- Tables — the full grid around every cell gives way to a single rule under the header plus row banding.
- Task checkboxes — drawn in the app's own colors instead of the macOS system blue. A - [ ] no longer shows both a bullet and a checkbox.
- Tabs — the active tab is marked by an accent bar, and inactive titles are dimmed.
- Treeview — the note marker is now a filled dot; the old hollow ring read as an unselected radio button.
- Note list — tighter rows, with the name and date reading as a pair.
- Outline panel — the [h1], [h2]… labels are gone, replaced by a hierarchy carried by indentation and type scale; each row is now a full-width click target.
- Settings window — fixed height, so it no longer resizes as you move between tabs; redesigned side navigation, and the header is now separated from the content.
- Slim, consistent scrollbars throughout: Outline, the "New Note" template browser, and the settings lists.
Fixes
- Linking an external folder under a subfolder failed with "Cannot read properties of undefined", or silently attached the folder to the wrong parent.
- The accent color did not follow the selected theme: switches stayed orange under light themes.
- In Settings, the Prompts, MCP and LLM lists are taller, and their action buttons ("New custom prompt", "Open mcp.json", "Add New llm") stay visible no matter how many entries there are.
- The JSON config sample in the MCP tab was cut off on the right; it now scrolls.
- The OpenAI provider detail no longer forces vertical scrolling.
- The / and @ suggestion lists in the AI overlay used the OS scrollbar instead of the app's. |

| 4.5.2 | 31 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónFixed
- AI: /rewrite and /edit no longer fail with reasoning models (GPT-5 family).
Reasoning models spend their hidden "thinking" tokens inside the response token limit.
On long notes, the chat-sized limit (default 1500) was entirely consumed by reasoning
before the first visible character, so the final "Rewrite note" step came back empty
and Znote reported "No rewrite produced" — while non-reasoning models like gpt-4.1
worked fine. Rewrite generations now use a dedicated 16k-token budget, sized for
reasoning plus a complete note body. This also removes the risk of a long rewrite
being silently truncated by the chat response-length setting.
Models with a smaller context window are unaffected: if they can't accept the raised
budget, the cap is automatically dropped and the request retried. |
| 4.5.1 | 29 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónZnote 4.5.1 — MCP servers work out of the box, everywhere
4.5.0 shipped MCP support tested from the dev environment — where the app
inherits the terminal's PATH and everything resolves. The packaged app
doesn't get that luxury, and Windows adds quirks of its own. This release
makes MCP servers start reliably on a fresh machine, on all three platforms.
Fixes
macOS / Linux
- MCP: the packaged app couldn't find npx / uvx (GUI apps get a
minimal PATH that ignores your shell config — version managers and
keg-only Homebrew installs like node@22 were invisible). Znote now
captures your login shell's PATH once and resolves commands exactly like
your terminal does
- MCP: ~ in a server's command, args or cwd
(e.g. --db-path ~/data/app.db) is now expanded properly
Windows
- MCP: npx servers failed on a fresh Node.js install with
ENOENT lstat ...\AppData\Roaming\npm — npm never creates its global
prefix folder until the first install -g. Znote now creates it
- MCP: server arguments carrying cmd.exe special characters broke the
launch — "mcp<2" was parsed as a file redirection ("The system cannot
find the file specified"), and paths with spaces split apart. Arguments
are now properly quoted
- MCP: a missing runtime showed a raw localized cmd.exe message instead
of the install hint. Znote now probes the command first and tells you
exactly what to install (winget install astral-sh.uv, …)
- MCP: a runtime installed via winget could stay invisible to the app
even after a reboot. Znote now reads the user/system PATH from the
registry — if a fresh terminal finds it, so does Znote
All platforms
- MCP: after installing a missing runtime, hitting Test again picks it
up immediately — no app restart needed (on Windows the cached PATH is
re-read from the registry) |
| 4.4.1 | 27 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónFixes
- Linux: fix startup crash (GTK 2/3 and GTK 4 in the same process is not supported) on recent distros by pinning GTK 3
- AI assistant: the prompt input now gets focus when opening the overlay (Ctrl+H) with a text selection
- Settings: themed thin scrollbar on the AI prompts list |
| 4.4.0 | 25 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónZnote 4.4.0 — Obsidian integration
Run your code blocks in Znote, read the results in Obsidian. This release makes
executable code blocks fully compatible with Obsidian vaults, in both directions.
✨ Code block results saved into your notes
- Text results are persisted in the markdown itself. Running a js
(//exec: node) or bash/powershell block writes its output right below
the code fence as a plain ```output block — readable in Obsidian, on
GitHub, anywhere. Re-running updates it in place, Clear removes it.
- Rich results (charts, tables, HTML) saved on demand. A new camera button
on the runner snapshots the rendered result as a PNG in your attachments
folder, referenced with Obsidian's native embed syntax
(![[znote-run-… .png|width]]) — pixel-aligned with the live result, sharp
on retina displays, and re-running or clearing the block cleans it up.
- Copy button on saved snapshots — hover a saved result image to copy it
to the clipboard at full resolution.
- Enabled by default ("Persist code block results", saved per vault; use
noSave; on a fence to skip a single block).
- Results survive restarts and are included in PDF/HTML exports.
🔗 Obsidian companion plugin
A new plugin, installable in one click from Znote (proposed the first time
you open an Obsidian vault, or from the editor settings):
- "Open in Znote" from the command palette, file/editor context menus, the
ribbon, a note header action — and a hover "▶ Run in Znote" button on
executable code blocks, in both reading view and editing mode.
- Saved ```output blocks are styled as labeled RESULT panels in reading view.
- Powered by a new znote://open deep link: known vaults open instantly
(including from a cold start, straight into the right note); a vault Znote
has never seen asks for confirmation first, showing the exact paths.
🎨 Editor
- Readable line length — the editor now uses Obsidian's 700px column by
default. New toggle in the editor settings, and in Obsidian vaults the
.obsidian/app.json value is followed (and written back), like Inline title.
- Obsidian image size syntax ![[image.png|640]] is now rendered by the editor.
🐛 Fixes
- Images (pasted or saved results) were missing from PDF/HTML exports; runner
results could also be attached to the wrong code block in exports.
- Unsaved edits could silently skip autosave after a file was added to the
vault (attachments, image paste) while typing.
- Spurious scrollbars on ApexCharts and gridjs results with classic macOS
scrollbars; wide datagrids no longer stretch the whole note.
- Restored results after scrolling in long notes: no more doubled display,
lost gridjs styling, or misaligned/offset snapshots. |
| 4.3.2 | 23 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versión✏️ New /edit prompt — rewrite just the selection
Select a passage, type /edit with your request — make it shorter,
fix the tone, turn it into a list — and only that passage gets rewritten,
in place. No request? It simply makes your text clearer and tighter.
- Surgical: the rest of the note is never touched, one undo restores the original.
- Safe: a reply that isn't a real rewrite never reaches your note.
- Yours: like every prompt, override it (or build your own replaceSelection
command) with a simple markdown file in prompts/. |
| 4.3.1 | 21 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versión🔧 v4.3.1 — /rewrite reliability fixes
Some models replied "Hit Rewrite note!"… to the button you just pressed —
and that chatty reply could even replace your note. Fixed:
- The final generation now runs under a dedicated rewrite-engine prompt
(no more interview persona fighting the instruction), with one automatic
retry if the model still doesn't comply.
- A strict output contract: anything that isn't a real rewrite never
touches your note — the reply just lands in the chat and the session
continues.
Rewrites stay atomic (one undo restores everything) and your frontmatter is
always preserved. Custom replace: true commands benefit automatically. |
| 4.3.0 | 20 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versión✨ v4.3.0 — Slash Prompts: your AI just learned some serious new tricks
Open the AI overlay and type /. That's it. That's the release.
Well, almost — here's what's hiding behind that little slash. 👇
💬 Interactive AI sessions
Some things shouldn't be a one-shot prompt. The commands marked 💬 open a live chat
inside the overlay — the AI asks, you answer, and nothing touches your note until
you hit Generate draft. Then the whole conversation turns into a clean, structured note.
- /brainstorm — shape an app, a screen or a half-baked idea, one sharp question at a time
- /interview — build a real user-interview guide (it will call out your leading questions 😉)
- /critique — a fair but merciless devil's advocate. Bring your best arguments.
- /discuss — an open discussion with a partner that actually has opinions,
wrapped up as a summary note
Sessions see your current note and selection, resolve @note / @file mentions in
every message, and can search the web mid-conversation. Escape hides the overlay —
your session is still there when you come back.
♻️ /rewrite — the note blender
The one we're most excited about. Your note grew messy — duplicated sections, answers
scattered at the bottom, structure gone sideways? /rewrite proposes a rewrite plan,
lets you adjust it in the chat, then rebuilds the whole note in place.
Built paranoid, on purpose: the rewrite lands as one atomic edit (a single undo brings
everything back), your frontmatter is preserved untouched, and if the model replies with
anything that isn't a rewrite, the note stays exactly as it was.
📁 A prompt library that is yours
Every command is just a markdown file in your vault's prompts/ folder:
- Override any built-in — the file wins, and a version chip tells you when the
built-in default evolved since
- Drop a new file, get a new command — frontmatter picks the behavior:
interactive: true for a chat session, replace: true for a rewriter,
category: to organize your own folders in the / list
- Plain notes, versioned with your vault — your whole team shares the same commands
New Settings → Prompts screen to see everything at a glance, generate any default
file, scaffold a custom command, or reset to factory prompts.
Also in this release
- One-shot classics, tidied into folders: 📁 Spec kit (/specify, /plan, /tasks,
/premortem, /review…) and 📁 Notes (/summarize, /eli5)
- Copy button on chat replies
- Visible focus state on text fields in dark mode, and assorted dark-mode dialog fixes
Type /, poke around, and tell us which custom command you build first. 🚀 |
| 4.2.4 | 18 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónFixed
- Latest OpenAI models (GPT-5.x, o-series) failed with
Unsupported parameter: 'presence_penalty' — unsupported sampling parameters
are now detected and skipped automatically, for OpenAI and OpenAI-compatible
providers. |
| 4.2.3 | 16 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónWhat's New
New
- Hide code in code blocks — add hide; to a code fence (e.g. ```js hide;)
to hide the code in the editor and in exports. Executable blocks keep their
play/clear buttons and output; click the collapsed line to edit the source.
Fixed
- File tree could get out of sync with the disk — it now resyncs automatically on
window focus, and "All files" has a refresh button to reload from disk anytime.
- Copying a note no longer shows the original's code execution results in the copy.
- PDF export now includes a code block's result after its first run (no re-run needed). |
| 4.2.2 | 14 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónZnote 4.2.2
Small bugfix.
- 🩹 No more content loss on a fresh note: pasting into a just-created note and switching away immediately could lose the pasted content — every edit is now reliably saved, including a single paste right after creation.
- 💾 Edits survive a quick quit: a change made in the very last second before closing the app is now flushed to disk.
- 🔄 Sync-friendly closes: closing Znote no longer rewrites the active note when nothing changed — sync tools (iCloud, git, Obsidian Sync…) stop seeing a phantom modification on every close.
- 🔗 "Reveal in Treeview" works on linked files: it now expands the "Linked files" group and highlights the file. |
| 4.2.1 | 13 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónZnote 4.2.1 — Vaults & Obsidian compatibility 🔮
Your notes are now plain Markdown files in a vault — no more internal database.
- 🗄️ Vaults: a vault = a folder of .md files. Multiple vaults, one window each, with a vault switcher. Existing notes are migrated automatically (legacy data kept as backup).
- 🔮 Obsidian compatible: open your Obsidian vault directly — [[wikilinks]], ![[Note]] transclusion, ![[image]] embeds, callouts, shared attachments folder. Znote never rewrites your content.
- ✏️ Inline note title: a dedicated title field renames the file; the first line is just content now. Toggleable per vault, synced with Obsidian's setting.
- ⚡ Fast on large vaults: typing stays smooth with hundreds of notes.
- 🖱️ Native menus: right-click menus everywhere are now real OS menus — including the editor's, with AI actions built in.
- 📤 Export options: pick title, orientation, scale and destination before exporting to PDF/HTML.
- 🔎 ⌘F in-note search and ⌘K highlight.
- 🎙️ Audio reworked: recordings embed inline with a native player and one-click transcription.
- ✍️ Editor & AI: collapsible sections, @ note mentions in AI prompts, selection kept & highlighted while you prompt.
- 🎨 UI refresh: all-files view, quick-search palette, tree, dialogs, slim scrollbars — plus a new app icon and a rebuilt 8-bit Retro theme.
- 💥 Removed: tags, note history, the Attached-files panel — see full changelog below.
Full details ⬇️
Znote 4.2.1 — Vaults, plain Markdown storage & Obsidian compatibility
This is the biggest release since Znote 4.0. Your notes are no longer stored in an internal
database: a vault is now just a folder of Markdown files on your disk — readable,
syncable, and fully compatible with Obsidian.
🗄️ Vaults — your notes are plain .md files
- A vault = a folder of Markdown files. The folder tree is your note tree. No more
internal SQLite database — what you see on disk is what you get in the app.
- Multiple vaults, multiple windows. Each vault opens in its own window. Switch or open
vaults from the new vault switcher at the bottom of the sidebar (Obsidian-style), with
a "Show in explorer" shortcut on every vault.
- Open any Markdown folder as a vault — point Znote at an existing folder of .md files
and start working.
- Automatic migration. On first launch, your existing notes, folders, uploads and trash
are migrated to ~/Documents/Znote. Your previous data is kept untouched as a backup.
- Live filesystem sync. Edit a note in another app (or let your sync service update it):
Znote picks up external changes automatically. Conflicts on a note you're editing are
detected and surfaced instead of overwritten.
- Vault-based backup: back up or restore a vault as a simple zip of the folder. The
Backup settings now show your vault and app folders with one-click "Show in explorer".
🔗 Linked files & folders
Work with files that live outside your vault without moving them.
- "Link external folder…" mounts any folder into the tree (previously "Open Real Folder");
hover a linked folder or file to see its real path in a tooltip.
- A dedicated "Linked files" group in the tree gathers individually linked files —
no more mixing with your vault notes at the root. The file icon now marks only files
that live outside the vault.
- "Show in explorer" on linked files and folders reveals them in Finder / Explorer.
- Safe drag & drop: dropping a linked file into a vault folder now asks for
confirmation before physically moving the file into the vault.
🔮 Obsidian compatibility
You can now open an Obsidian vault directly in Znote — and go back to Obsidian anytime.
Znote never rewrites your content.
- [[Wikilinks]] rendered and clickable, with [[ autocompletion, |aliases,
frontmatter aliases and #heading navigation.
- ![[Note]] transclusion — embed a note inside another.
- ![[image.png]] embeds, resolved anywhere in the vault, Obsidian-style.
- Callouts (> [!note], > [!warning], …), %%comments%% and ^block-anchors.
- Attachments follow Obsidian's r |
| 4.1.1 | 7 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versión✨ New
🔍 Find in note (Cmd/Ctrl+F)
The new editor now has a built-in search panel: press Cmd/Ctrl+F to search inside the open note, with match highlighting, match case / regexp / whole-word options, and find & replace. Press Escape to close the panel.
🖍 Highlight shortcut (Cmd/Ctrl+K)
Select text and press Cmd/Ctrl+K to wrap it in ==marker== and highlight it — alongside the existing Bold/Italic/Underline shortcuts.
⌨️ Keyboard help is back
The keyboard shortcuts dialog returns to the footer, refreshed to match the current editor (removed obsolete entries, documents the new Cmd+K marker shortcut).
🐛 Fixes
- Crash when closing the app with a locked note active: closing while a locked (not yet unlocked) note was open crashed the save-on-exit flow and prevented the app from quitting. Locked notes are now left untouched on exit, and Save / Save As / Export / Duplicate are also guarded so they can no longer write stale content over an encrypted note.
- Text shifting during search: highlighting a match inside a link, @note mention, ==marker== or inline code no longer makes the rest of the line shift by a few pixels. |
| 4.1.0 | 3 de julio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versión✨ Features
- Added support for note includes using the @ alias.
- You can now include the content of another note directly by referencing it with the @ alias.
- This makes it easier to organize reusable content, create modular documentation, and avoid duplication across notes.

| 4.0.0 | 29 de junio de 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notas de la versiónv4.0.0 — One editor
This is a major release. We rebuilt Znote's text editor from the ground up to unify Source mode and Live preview into a single, consistent editing experience — so switching between them is no longer a disruptive context switch.
✨ Highlights
One unified editor
Source mode and Live preview now share the same underlying editing engine. Whichever way you prefer to work — raw Markdown or rendered preview — you get the same behavior, the same shortcuts, and the same document state underneath. No more two editors pretending to be one.
Non-destructive Markdown
The editor now takes a non-destructive approach to your Markdown. Your source is treated as the source of truth and is no longer rewritten or reformatted behind your back when rendering the preview. What you wrote is what stays on disk.
Undo survives mode switches
Ctrl+Z now keeps working across mode switches. Toggle between Source and Live preview as often as you like — your full undo/redo history is preserved instead of being reset. Editing flow is continuous, no matter how you move between views.
⬆️ Upgrade notes
This release changes the editing core. If you hit any bug or unexpected behavior, please reach out: contact@alc-digital.fr or open an issue — I read every report and fix fast. |
