[1.65.17] - 2026-08-18
A safety fix for how SysManager saves its own small settings and history files. Under a specific bit of
bad timing, a setting you changed could quietly fail to save — no error, it just would not stick. Most
people would never have hit it, but "most" is not "none", and a save that loses your data without saying
so is exactly the kind of thing this app must never do.
Fixed
- A setting or history entry could silently fail to save if two saves of the same file overlapped.
SysManager writes these files safely — to a temporary file first, then swaps it into place, so a crash
mid-write can never leave a half-written file. But every save of a given file used the same fixed name
for that temporary file, and cleaned it up afterwards. If two saves of the same file ran at once — for
example the About screen recording its update-check time in the background while you toggled the
"check for updates" box — one could delete the other's temporary file mid-swap, and both saves were
lost with nothing written and nothing reported. Each save now uses a temporary name only it knows, so
overlapping saves can no longer interfere; the last one simply wins. Applied to the shared save helper
and to the two Hosts-file writers, which had the same pattern.

This build is not code-signed, so Windows will warn on first launch. That is
expected for a small independent app: see what the warning says and what to
click.
Code signing is planned through the SignPath Foundation,
which provides free certificates to open-source projects, with signing performed by
SignPath.io. Until then, the SHA256 above and the build
attestation below are what establish that a download is the genuine build.
Code signing policy
This release is not code-signed. The team roles, release-approval process and
privacy policy required by the SignPath Foundation programme
are documented in advance under Code signing
policy. That
documentation is a prerequisite for applying, not evidence of a certificate. The
attribution line naming SignPath as the signing provider will appear here once a
certificate is actually issued.
This program will not transfer any information to other networked systems unless
specifically requested by the user or the person installing or operating it. Full
privacy policy.
Verify where this binary came from
This exe was built by GitHub Actions from this public source, and the build is
recorded in the Sigstore public transparency log. With the
GitHub CLI:
gh attestation verify .\SysManager-v1.65.17.exe --repo laurentiu021/SystemManager
That proves which commit and workflow produced this exact binary, something the
SHA256 file cannot show, since it is published alongside the exe it describes.
Each release also ships SysManager-v1.65.17.sbom.json, a CycloneDX inventory of
every dependency resolved for this build.https://github.com/laurentiu021/SystemManager/releases/tag/v1.65.17
