Load Balancers can now be created with existing Primary IPs
Primary IPs, which were previously available exclusively for Servers, are now also available for Load Balancers. When creating a Load Balancer, you can assign an existing Primary IP instead of having an IP address allocated automatically. Currently, you cannot change the Primary IP once the Load Balancer has been created.
To support this change, we added the following flags to the load balancer create command:
- --primary-ipv4 <primary-ip>: Name or id of an IPv4 Primary IP to assign to the Load Balancer.
- --primary-ipv6 <primary-ip>: Name or id of an IPv6 Primary IP to assign to the Load Balancer.
If you omit a property, a new Primary IP of that version is allocated for the Load Balancer, as before.
A Primary IP can currently only be assigned when the Load Balancer is created. It stays assigned for the entire lifetime of the Load Balancer.

Removed deprecated Datacenter from Server and Primary IP
Removed the deprecated Datacenter property from the Server and Primary IP resources. Since the property was already removed from the Hetzner Cloud API, we do not consider this a breaking change (see changelog entry).
The hcloud primary-ip create --datacenter and hcloud server create --datacenter flags have been removed in favor of --location. Additionally, hcloud primary-ip describe and hcloud server describe will no longer show the Datacenter property.
In place of the --datacenter flag the --location flag can be used. The Location name is the first part of the Datacenter name, e.g. the part before -. Example:

Datacenters commands are now deprecated
The hcloud datacenters list and hcloud datacenters describe commands are now deprecated.
The endpoints GET /v1/datacenters and GET /v1/datacenters/{id} are now deprecated and will be removed after 1 Oct. 2026. After this date, requests to these endpoints will return HTTP 410 Gone.

A timeout for HTTP connections can now be set with --http-timeout-idle while creating or updating Load Balancer services.

Storage Box Subaccounts are no longer identified by username
Storage Box Subaccounts now have a name property, allowing users to specify custom names for their Subaccounts.
More importantly, Storage Box Subaccounts (<subaccount>) are now identified by id or name, instead of by id or username.

Deprecation of datacenter attribute for Primary IPs and Servers
The datacenter attribute is deprecated in the Primary IPs and Servers API resources and will be removed after 1 July 2026. See https://docs.hetzner.cloud/changelog#2025-12-16-phasing-out-datacenters for more details.
The location attribute already exists for Servers, and was added for Primary IPs.
Therefor the datacenter attribute is deprecated in favor of the location attribute in the following commands:

- hcloud server list
- hcloud primary-ip create
- hcloud primary-ip describe
- hcloud primary-ip list
In list commands, the datacenter columns is not longer shown by default, and is replaced with the location column.

Storage Box API Experimental
This release adds support for the Storage Box API.
The Storage Box integration will be introduced as an experimental feature. This experimental phase is expected to last until 21 November 2025. During this period, upcoming minor releases of the project may include breaking changes to features related to the Storage Box API. You can find out the current state of this in #1202.

DNS API Beta
This release adds support for the new DNS API.
The DNS API is currently in beta, which will likely end on 10 November 2025. After the beta ended, it will no longer be possible to create new zones in the old DNS system. See the DNS Beta FAQ for more details.

API Changes for Traffic Prices and Server Type Included Traffic
There will be a breaking change in the API regarding Traffic Prices and Server Type Included Traffic on 2024-08-05. This release implements the necessary changes for the CLI.
Until now, the hcloud server-type list command had a column traffic. This is no longer possible, because there is no single included traffic for a server type, and instead this depends on the location. We have set the field to - and removed it from the default columns. The information is still available in hcloud server-type describe <server-type-name>, now in the "Pricing" section of the output.
This also affects the JSON and YAML output of both hcloud server-type list and hcloud server-type describe as we use the API schema for this.
