Brows3 0.2.46 release notes
Added
- Image viewer with zoom, pan, previous/next navigation, keyboard controls, and compact rounded controls. Thanks to @antonp2k for the contribution in PR #36.
- Live upload and download speeds, including combined rates in the floating transfer panel. (#35)
- Self-contained crates.io source packaging and dedicated cargo-binstall binaries for macOS Intel/Apple Silicon, Linux x86_64/ARM64, and Windows x64. Cargo-managed builds use Cargo for updates. (#37)
- Experimental Intel/AMD 32-bit Linux Debian installer (i386, targeting i686). Verified in CI with 90 backend tests and an installed-app startup check. Real-device testing is still outstanding; WebKitGTK 4.1 is required and in-app updates are disabled for this build.
Fixed
- Show confirmation before cancelling transfers, keep transfer tables within the viewport, and put filenames before status.
- Show only active transfer directions in the floating panel, remove the redundant badge, and improve upload/download activity indicators.
- Harden S3 operations, transfer retries and cancellation, credential persistence, cache invalidation, and partial-failure handling.
Changed
- Clarify that amd64, x86_64, and x64 Linux downloads work on both Intel and AMD 64-bit systems. A 32-bit system needs the separate i386 installer.
- Validate source packaging, binary installation, and startup on all five Cargo release targets before publication.

Brows3 0.2.45 release notes
Added
- Create buckets, edit bucket policies and delete empty buckets from All Buckets. Destructive actions require the bucket name, and profile changes dismiss pending actions. (#27)
- Favorite bucket roots from the sidebar or bucket header. Thanks to @EricERodriguez for the contribution. (#30, #31)
- Unit and component coverage for core features, production browser smoke tests in Chromium and WebKit, and native CI on Linux, macOS and Windows.
Fixed
- Keep clipboard, move, search and transfer operations bound to their original profile and bucket.
- Reject stale sorted-listing cursors without crashing the application. Keep pagination available through empty pages and prevent overlapping requests. (#28)
- Commit downloads without overwriting existing files, reject unsafe paths and symlinks, remove interrupted partial files and retain safe destinations on retry.
- Bound stalled transfers and multipart aborts, scale request timeouts for larger uploads and show provider error details in transfer lists. Thanks to @EricERodriguez for the initial timeout and error improvements. (#32)
- Send an explicit signed zero content length when creating folders and preserve custom endpoint errors. Added a Garage v1.0.1 integration check. (#29)
- Provide working File and Window commands on Linux where predefined native menu items are unsupported. (#33)
- Preserve legacy credentials during migration and write credential files atomically with private permissions.
- Detect concurrent text edits, preserve object attributes on save and use multipart copy for large objects.
- Fix transfer scheduling and listener cleanup, refresh views after cache changes and report incomplete deletions.
- Restore narrow-window navigation, keyboard object selection and clipboard shortcuts. Require an explicit permissions change before applying ACLs.
- Allow bundled editor fonts and workers, HTTPS media and PDF previews under the desktop content security policy.
Changed
- Remove unused assets and build leftovers, organize tests and document local verification.
- Check desktop packages before uploading release assets, alongside existing updater signature and WinGet manifest validation.

Brows3 0.2.44 release notes
Added
- Configurable Text Previews: Added a persisted 1–100 MB text/HTML/code preview limit in Settings. The backend enforces the selected byte limit while streaming, even when object metadata is missing or incorrect. (#21)
- Audio And Streamed Media Previews: Added in-app audio playback alongside presigned image, video, and PDF previews; streamed media does not consume the text-preview memory allowance. (#21)
- Content-Type Detection And Editing: Uploads infer MIME types from object names, edited text objects retain their existing type, and Properties provides a validated free-form Content-Type field with common suggestions. Metadata-only changes preserve tags, user metadata, cache headers, encryption settings, object-lock fields, and ACL grants; objects above 5 GiB use multipart copy. (#22)
- AWS IAM Identity Center Profiles: Discovered SSO profiles are identified in the profile picker, use the AWS SDK's cached IAM Identity Center credentials, and provide an AWS CLI v2 browser sign-in action with actionable expired-session errors. (#23)
Fixed
- Readable Command Errors: Tauri command failures now serialize as their human-readable messages instead of JavaScript displaying [object Object]. (#18)
- Large Multipart Uploads: Files at or above 100 MiB now use retryable, bounded-memory S3 multipart uploads with adaptive part sizing, per-part progress, clean cancellation/abort handling, and support for objects beyond the 5 GiB single-PUT limit. (#25)
- Persistent Linux Secrets: Linux now explicitly uses the freedesktop Secret Service backend (GNOME Keyring/KWallet) instead of the volatile kernel session keyring, migrates a still-live legacy keyutils secret when possible, and retains the documented local fallback when Secret Service is unavailable. (#24)
- Shared-Profile Custom Endpoints: AWS shared-config profiles that load endpoint_url now use path-style bucket addressing and compatibility checksum behavior, matching Custom Endpoint profiles on MinIO and similar providers. (#26)
- Profile Connection Tests: Test progress and results now remain visible until the form changes, and stale asynchronous responses cannot overwrite a newer test.
- Transfer Profile Isolation: Queued transfers retain the profile that created them instead of using whichever account is active when a worker starts.
- Safe Folder Downloads: Recursive download paths reject traversal, absolute, rooted, drive-prefixed, and null-containing object keys before joining them to the selected directory.
- Bounded Search And Sorting: Deep search is capped at 100 S3 LIST requests, 100,000 scanned objects, and 10,000 matches, while complete non-default folder sorts are capped at 100 requests and 100,000 entries.
- Cache Accuracy: Removed the unused full-bucket cache implementation, bounded the actual sorted-view cache, and invalidated it after object writes.
- Release Signing Workflow: macOS builds now receive configured Apple signing and notarization secrets, while [skip release] suppresses release jobs for maintenance pushes.
- Winget Package Continuity: Release manifests now update the established Brows3Team.Brows3 package identifier and include both MSI and NSIS installers when available instead of generating a disconnected package identity.
Changed
- Credential Documentation: Documented the plaintext secrets.json fallback used by portable mode or when native keychain storage fails.
- Release Quality Gate: Publishing now waits for frontend linting, TypeScript checks, production export, Rust formatting, Clippy, backend tests, release-script tests, native Windows validation, and a complete signed artifact audit. Updater signatures are fetched through the authenticated asset API, and updater/Winget manifests must use stable tag URLs and verified installer digests; incomplete builds remain unpublished drafts.
- Project Cleanup: Removed unused state, dependencies, starter assets, and historical build logs.

Brows3 0.2.34 release notes
Fixed
- Unreadable Object Protection: The backend now rejects invalid UTF-8 and obvious binary payloads instead of lossy-decoding them into the text editor, preventing accidental corruption of non-text objects.
- Object Editability Detection: Ambiguous object names no longer depend on a giant text-extension allowlist. content-type stays authoritative, and unknown names fall back safely without blocking valid text objects that have uncommon or no suffixes.
