0.28.0Darrera versió 22 d’octubre del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)ARM64 EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
What's New
- Translated block and error pages
Before, the block page and the error pages Zen shows when a site fails to load were always in English. They now use the language you chose in the app.
- Exception rule fixes
Filter lists often allow something on just one site, with a rule like @@||moatads.com^$script,domain=nascar.com. Zen ignored most of these rules unless a block rule had exactly the same modifiers, which was incorrect behaviour. Zen now applies them the same way uBlock Origin and AdGuard do.
- Lower memory use
Zen now uses about 60 MB less memory with the default filter lists.
- Security update
Zen is now built with Go 1.27.3, which rejects certificates issued through compromised intermediate CAs (CVE-2026-111943). Your system's certificate store should already reject them, but this adds a second check.
- Other minor bugfixes and improvements.
Thank you for using Zen!
0.27.1 12 d’octubre del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)ARM64 EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
What's New
- Self-updates now work on systems with multiple partitions
Updates failed if Zen was installed on a different drive or partition from the system's temporary folder. This is now fixed. Thanks to @unpacman for reporting!
- Other minor bugfixes and performance improvements.
Thank you for using Zen!
0.27.0 11 d’octubre del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)ARM64 EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
What's New
- Fewer bot checks and block pages
Some sites, such as Etsy and Yelp, use bot-detection services that sometimes mistook Zen's connections for bot traffic and showed a block page. Zen now mimics your browser's TLS fingerprint, so these pages load normally. Thanks to @ThisIsJeron for reporting this!
- More accurate filter lists
Zen now understands the !#if blocks in filter lists and loads only the rules that apply to Zen. AdGuard Base and AdGuard Spyware now load from AdGuard's Windows builds, which are made for proxy-based blockers like Zen. Before, Zen loaded about 5,000 rules meant for iOS, Safari and Android.
- Lower memory use
Zen now uses about 60 MB less memory with the default filter lists.
- Other minor bugfixes and improvements.
Thank you for using Zen!
0.26.0 7 d’octubre del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)ARM64 EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
What's New
- Hardware-backed CA key
A new experimental setting under Settings > Advanced stores Zen's root CA private key in the Secure Enclave on macOS or the TPM on Windows. The key can't be copied off the device, even by malware. We recommend turning the setting on for most people, so please try it out and tell us how it went. See the documentation for more details.
- NixOS support
Zen now runs on NixOS. You can build it from source with the new Nix flake. See the installation guide. Thanks to @ohdonny for requesting this, and @BUTTER-BEAR for extensive help with testing!
- Lower memory use
With various optimisations, Zen now uses about 45 MB less memory with the default filter lists.
- Restart after update keeps your state
The "Restart" button shown after an update now reopens the window and turns the proxy back on if it was running. Before, Zen could come back hidden in the tray (if it had been started on login), or with the proxy off.
- Fixed Firefox ignoring Zen after Stop/Start
Firefox cached the proxy configuration file, so after a Stop and Start in Zen it kept using the old proxy address. This is now fixed.
- $all rules now block page loads
Rules with the $all modifier now also block pages you open directly, the same way $document rules do.
- Harder for sites to detect Zen
Zen's injected scripts no longer add global polyfills or put scriptlets and extendedCSS properties on window. Pages are less likely to break, and anti-adblock scripts have fewer signs to look for.
- Other minor bugfixes and improvements.
Thank you for using Zen!
0.25.1 13 d’agost del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)ARM64 EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
What's New
- No more Firefox local network prompts
Firefox recently introduced local network access control, which asks for permission when a page connects to a local device. Zen loaded its injected page assets from 127.0.0.1, which triggered the prompt and blamed the site for a connection Zen was actually making. These assets are now served via a fake hostname, so the prompt no longer appears.
- Framework upgrade
Upgraded Wails to v2.14.0, fixing a crash on Windows when downloading the WebView2 runtime.
Thank you for using Zen!
0.25.0 9 d’agost del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)ARM64 EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
What's New
- Xin chào!
Zen's UI is now available in Vietnamese. Thanks to @vuanhvu11982!
- Fixed proxy start for non-admin macOS accounts
Pressing "Start" failed on standard (non-admin) macOS accounts with a "Command requires admin privileges" error, because networksetup refused to run without elevation. Zen now elevates these commands when needed, so starting the proxy prompts for admin approval instead of failing. Thanks to @stevehartwell for reporting the issue!
- Linux installation script
A new install.sh script installs and uninstalls Zen across Linux distributions, automating the manual process of downloading and extracting a portable binary. See the README for usage. Thanks to @ohdonny!
- Fixed Linux autostart
Zen was writing its autostart entry to ~/.config instead of ~/.config/autostart, so "Start on login" had no effect. The entry is now created in the correct directory, with a migration that fixes existing installs on upgrade. Thanks to @yofukashino!
- More reliable filter list updates
Filter list fetching now survives slow or unreliable connections. Downloads are retried with backoff, updates are requested conditionally to save bandwidth, and Zen falls back to the last known-good list instead of losing protection when a fetch fails outright.
- Friendly error page on failed page loads
Browser navigations that fail at the proxy now show a readable error page instead of a broken connection.
- Proxy performance improvements
Long-lived connections (SSE, long polling) are no longer cut off by a fixed request timeout, idle connection limits were raised, and outbound connections now close cleanly on shutdown.
- Other improvements
Faster process lookups on Linux via kernel Netlink queries instead of /proc parsing (thanks @LucasM4r!), and the Rules help button now points to Zen's new documentation site.

0.24.1 22 de juliol del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)ARM64 EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
What's New
- Scriptlet fixes
Fixed a couple of bugs that stopped some scriptlet rules from working, which could let ads and trackers through on certain sites. The affected rules now behave as written.
Thank you for using Zen!
0.24.0 27 de juny del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)ARM64 EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
What's New
- Linux app starts again without libayatana-appindicator3
Since v0.23.0, Zen failed to launch on Linux systems that didn't have AppIndicator installed, quitting with a shared-library loading error. Zen now loads the system tray library at runtime instead of linking it at build time, so the app starts whether or not the library is present. If you ran into this after updating, see the troubleshooting guide: https://docs.irbis.sh/docs/zen/how-to/troubleshoot/#zen-wont-start-after-updating-to-v0230
- important modifier
Zen now supports the important rule modifier. An important rule wins over regular exception rules, and only an important exception rule can cancel it. Thanks to @LucasM4r!
- ping content-type modifier
Rules can now match hyperlink auditing (ping) requests with the ping content-type modifier. Thanks to @LucasM4r!
- Noop modifiers
Zen now accepts noop modifiers (_) in rules and ignores them during parsing, which improves compatibility with filter lists. Thanks to @kamalovk!

0.23.0 22 de juny del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)ARM64 EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
What's New
- Linux system tray support
Zen now sits in the system tray on Linux in supported desktop environments. Closing the window minimizes Zen to the tray and keeps the proxy running instead of shutting it down. Thanks to @ohdonny!
- こんにちは!
Zen's UI is now available in Japanese, thanks to @AI-Avalon!
- WebSocket filtering
WebSocket traffic can now be matched and blocked. Additionally, Zen now recognizes the $websocket content type modifier. Thanks to @inflame-ue!
- More reliable content-type matching
Content-type rules now match against the Content-Type response header, not only the Sec-Fetch-Dest request header. These rules now work more consistently, especially with non-browser apps. Thanks to @Mirwinli!
- Separate PAC port setting
Settings > Advanced now has a field for the PAC proxy port. Useful for apps that do not respect system proxy settings automatically and need to be configured to use Zen manually.
- Other improvements
Tightened the scope of generated certificates (thanks @inflame-ue!), fixed a resource leak when the proxy fails to start (thanks @Mirwinli!), improved filtering accuracy (thanks @Mirwinli!), and made other internal improvements to the filtering engine.

Notes de la versió
What's New
- Regular-expression rule support
Zen now supports regexp rules. This improves compatibility with filter lists that use regexp patterns to match dynamic tracking and ad URLs.
- Fixed allowlisting for hosts rules
The "Allow" button on "Blocked by Zen" pages now works correctly when the block was caused by a hosts-style rule such as 0.0.0.0 example.net.
- Fixed macOS service compatibility
HTTPS exclusions were updated to fix sign-in and calling issues with Apple Messages and FaceTime. Thanks to @rishiskhare for reporting the issue!
- Removed a stale built-in filter lists
An outdated Polish anti-adblock list has been removed from the configuration. Thanks to @qorexdevs for the contribution!
- UI polish
The header and filter lists now use cleaner divider styling for a more consistent look.

Notes de la versió
What's New
This is a performance-focused update with many improvements across the stack.
- Zen's proxy now speaks HTTP/2 in addition to HTTP/1.1, for both inbound and outbound traffic. Thanks to @brycewray for initiating the conversation on this.
- The rule matching engine is 2x faster on average, with more than 200x improvement on long URLs (1,000+ characters). This particularly affected Google Meet and Google Chat – expect much improved loading times on these services.
- Extended CSS rule application now optimizes :has, :not, and :is pseudo-class evaluation when it can be run natively. Thanks to @krystian3w for advice along the way.
- Other minor improvements and bug fixes.
