# 🛠️ Xenia Manager v5.0.0

> This is a really big update under the hood so let us know if you find any bugs so we can fix them as soon as possible. While we have been testing this for a while on our own installs across multiple devices, bugs can still slip us.

## ⚠️ Breaking Changes

• **Two Executables in the Release**
The release artifact now ships `XeniaManager.BigScreen.exe` alongside `XeniaManager.exe`. Extract both into the same folder so the manager can find Big Screen.

Replaces the Open Game Location action with an in-app, read-only browser for a game's container, opened from the library context menu with multi-disc support. A preloaded directories-first tree with live search, reveal-in-tree and multiselect sits beside a details pane that shows parsed XEX metadata (title/media IDs, version, disc, image size, module flags), the SPA summary (title, achievement count, gamerscore, icon), STFS metadata with thumbnail for CON/LIVE/PIRS packages, embedded image previews (PNG/JPG/BMP) and every SPA achievement with localized name/description, icon and gamerscore badge; a bottom panel summarizes the container format, file count and total size. Double-clicking smart-opens files — text into a selectable viewer with an encoding footer, `.gpd` into a read-only GPD viewer with achievements and entry table, and unknown files probed for STFS magic into a nested dialog — while the XEX details dialog loads in two cancellable stages (fast header first, full details on demand) and shows base version, executable type (Retail/Debug), icon export to PNG and a per-language achievement selector. Any selection of files, folders or mixed picks can be extracted with traversal-safe writes and a progress dialog reporting extracted/failed counts, and the game folder can still be opened in Explorer.

Fixed a path traversal vulnerability in STFS and ZAR content extraction. A maliciously crafted content package could write files to any location the current user can write to — including the Windows Startup folder for code execution at the next logon. All extracted file paths are now validated to stay inside the target content folder ([GitHub Advisory](https://github.com/xenia-manager/xenia-manager/security/advisories/GHSA-9h49-rrwv-5rrj)).

## 📢Announcement

This will very likely (unless there's a need for a hotfix) be the last version before the UI update.
After being in development for 2 months, UI update is currently feature complete (Missing NVIDIA
Settings since I want to have a proper library to interact with it, which I plan on adding alongside
AMD Settings in a future update most likely Optimized Settings since that repository will go through
a rework to use .TOML files instead of .JSON, which will help with maintenance and navigation via
keyboard/gamepad which needs more time in the oven, currently there's just a proof of concept that
it works, but needs to be integrated properly) and is in bugfixing stage. Once I merge the PR,
expect the next Experimental release to be new v4.0.0 version with new UI. I have made it compatible
with old v3 version (some settings might reset like Automatic Save Backup since they work a little
bit differently, but it shouldn't require any migration or anything special like that). Feedback
will be appreciated.
