## Release Highlights
#### ❗ Security updates
#### 🔧 Improved coinjoin stability
#### 🌙 Payjoin discontinued
## Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.8.5 includes security updates and polishes the coinjoin feature.
### ❗ Security updates
Updates dependencies to address disclosed vulnerabilities & adds stricter transaction verification to protect against malicious servers.
### 🔧 Improved coinjoin stability
Fixes an edge case where clients would fail to construct outputs. Inputs from partially signed coinjoins containing payments are now prioritized for the next round. Amounts below 10,000 sats can no longer be queued for coinjoin payments and get stuck.
### 🌙 Payjoin discontinued
Support for sending BIP78 payjoin transactions was removed to reduce code complexity and attack surface.
### Deprecation of compatibility passphrase feature
Please create a new wallet if you see the following message while logging in to your wallet:
*Compatibility passphrase was used! Please consider generating a new wallet to ensure recoverability!*
Five years ago, because of a clipboard bug on macOS in the Avalonia UI framework, users who created wallets by pasting complex passwords (with non-ASCII characters) got their passphrase silently truncated and corrupted. Wallets created with the buggy passphrase would be unrecoverable using standard BIP39 tools. The mechanism for working around that issue will soon be removed.

## Release Highlights
#### ✅ Only use private funds for coinjoin payments
#### 🛡️ Copy URLs before opening browser
#### ⏪ Set gap limit in resync tool
#### 📊 Extended coinjoin transaction fee details
#### ⚙️ Bug fixes
## Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.8.4 includes extra privacy features, UX improvements, and bug fixes.
### ✅ Only use private funds for coinjoin payments
A new option was added to the coinjoin settings to hold batched payments if any participating input is below the anonymity score target. This safeguard prevents nonprivate/semiprivate inputs and coinjoin payment outputs from appearing in the same round.
### 🛡️ Copy URLs before opening browser
Menu options that navigate to external links now ask before launching your default browser. Pasting the URL into Tor Browser helps protect your IP address like Wasabi does.
### ⏪ Set gap limit in resync tool
Bitcoin wallets can generate an unlimited number of new addresses. During wallet recovery, only a limited number of consecutive unused addresses are scanned before the software assumes all of the coins are found. If a gap between addresses that received coins exceeded that limit, funds might not be detected. The resync tool now supports increasing the gap limit to help recover funds that are buried under many unused addresses.
### 📊 Extended coinjoin transaction fee details
Coinjoin transaction details previously showed a single value for the fee paid to miners, dust that couldn't fit into private outputs, and outgoing payments. These individual costs are now broken down and easy to audit.
### ⚙️ Bug fixes
• Exchange rates and fee rates no longer get stuck
• Coinjoin payments now return from "in progress" to the queue and are attempted again once a previous signature is invalidated
• Synchronization now ignores block headers received from longer chains that have less accumulated proof of work
• Upgraded to Tor 0.4.9.13

## Release Highlights
#### 🌳 Taproot support for Payjoin
#### 🔐 Stricter security controls across the wallet
#### 🛡️ Enhanced coinjoin blame round protection
## Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.8.3 adds Taproot support for Payjoin transactions, implements stricter security controls throughout the wallet, and strengthens verification of coinjoin blame rounds.
### Deprecation of compatibility password feature
Please create a new wallet if you see the following message while logging in to your wallet:
*Compatibility passphrase was used! Please consider generating a new wallet to ensure recoverability!*
Five years ago, because of a clipboard bug on macOS (OSX) in the Avalonia UI framework, users who created wallets by pasting complex passwords (with non-ASCII characters) got their password silently truncated and corrupted. Wallets created with the buggy passwords would be unrecoverable using standard BIP39 tools.
The mechanism for working around that issue will soon be removed.
### 🌳 Payjoin now supports Taproot addresses
Payjoin transactions now work with Taproot (P2TR) addresses. Payjoins are two-party collaborative transactions that improve fungibility.
### 🔐 Stricter security controls
Multiple security hardening measures have been implemented:
• Payjoin now requires Tor to be enabled for enhanced privacy
• Improved validation of compact block filters
• Better network diversity by connecting to nodes in different net groups
• Fixed value-conservation checks for Payjoin sender
### 🛡️ Enhanced coinjoin blame round protection
Improved coinjoin reliability and security:
• Clients now verify blame round inputs match the original round
• Fixed payment stalling when only non-private coins are temporarily banned
• Wallet no longer participates in blame rounds when it didn't sign in the original round
### 🎵 Music box always visible
The coinjoin "music box" is now always visible in the UI for easier access to coinjoin status and controls.
### 🐛 Bug fixes
• Fixed blockchain info exchange rate provider
• Improved handling of missing Windows startup registry key

⚙️ P2P synchronization for compact filters

↘️ Sub-1 sat/vByte transaction fees
♻️ Payment batching
📎 Support for arm64 Linux, Tails, and Whonix
📜 Scheme scripting language
🔑 Signet test network
💀 Forward compatibility for Tor
Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.8.0 is a massive release with P2P synchronization, faster onboarding, improved privacy, lower fees, and expanded device support.
⚙️ P2P synchronization for compact filters
Wasabi pioneered the use of compact block filters for private wallet synchronization. This involved implementing a custom indexer to build the filters, and hosting a server to provide them to clients.
Progress continued on block filters, resulting in standardized BIPs and direct support in Bitcoin node software. This version of Wasabi uses Bitcoin’s P2P network to download compact filters, eliminating the centralized server.
Onboarding new users to Wasabi is now faster thanks to wallet birthday checkpoints. Newly generated wallets no longer waste time and bandwidth downloading old blockchain history since it would be impossible for a new wallet to have previously received any transactions.
🚀 Pay in coinjoin
Sending payments directly inside a coinjoin transaction uses block space more efficiently and improves privacy in several ways:
• The age of your inputs is not revealed, so the receiver does not learn how long you’ve held your coins.
• The size of your change is not revealed, so the receiver does not learn the amount of coins you have left over.
• You can batch multiple payments into one transaction without revealing they originate from the same sender.
↘️ Sub-1 sat/vByte transaction fees
You can now spend coins using fee rates as low as 0.1 sat/vByte, letting you save up to 90% on mining fees. If a low fee transaction gets “stuck”, you can use Replace By Fee (RBF) to speed it up.
♻️ Payment batching
You can now pay to multiple addresses in the same transaction. This significantly reduces the amount of block space used compared to sending each payment individually.
📎 Support for arm64 Linux, Tails, and Whonix
Linux users with arm64 devices are now part of the Wasabi family. Tails and Whonix installations are now automatic and no longer require manual Tor configuration.
📜 Scheme scripting language
The scripting language is an experimental feature that makes Wasabi programmable, queryable, and extensible.
🔑 Signet test network
Testnet3 and Testnet4 use proof of work for generating blocks, just like mainnet. Because testnet coins have no value, low mining difficulty allows an attacker with a small amount of hashpower to flood blocks or create long reorgs.
Signet is another test network that allows a set of signers to create blocks. This reduces the unpredictable behavior so developers can work with a stable environment.
💀 Forward compatibility for Tor
The Tor Project is terminating network support for versions <0.4.9 on September 1, 2026. This release of Wasabi upgrades the bundled Tor dependency to ensure forward compatibility.

⚙️ Dedicated Config Files Per Network
🤯 Stronger & Smarter Coordinators
🛠️ Refinements & Fixes
Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.7.0 is a stabilization release that not only strengthens reliability but also brings a fresh look and smoother performance.
🟠 Enhanced Bitcoin Node Integration
Bitcoin node connectivity is now more seamless. RPC endpoint handling has been refined for smoother setup, with support for onion-service RPC interfaces.
Additionally, Wasabi no longer bundles bitcoind binaries, while block downloading has been simplified and made more dependable.
🎨 Refreshed UI with Icons & Animations
The interface has been given a polished update. Subtle animations and a balanced color scheme breathe new life into Wasabi’s design, making it both cleaner and less aggressive.
⚙️ Dedicated Config Files Per Network
Each network Mainnet, Testnet4, and Regtest — now has its own independent configuration file. Switching to test networks is easier and your preferences are always preserved.
🤯 Stronger & Smarter Coordinators
Coordinators are automatically published as onion services right out of the box: no manual Tor setup needed. Coordinators can now also run on pruned nodes in blocksonly mode.
Plus, fallback fee rate providers were implemented (mempool.space and blockstream.info), ensuring accurate fee estimates, even if your node can’t provide them.

🤯 And more…
Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.6.0 "Prometheus" marks a significant milestone in our survival strategy, delivering major improvements in resiliency by eliminating dependency on centralized infrastructure while making it harder to stop.
💥 Support for Standard BIP 158 Block Filters
Wasabi can now synchronize using BIP 158 filters without requiring a backend/indexer. You can connect directly to your own node, significantly enhancing synchronization speed and resilience. This improvement allows clients to operate fully sovereign and independent of specific servers.
💻 Full Node Integration Rework
The previous integration was replaced with a simpler, more flexible system which is not limited to a specific Bitcoin node fork and doesn't depend on the node running on the same machine as Wasabi, or require modifications to the node's configuration.
Simply enable the RPC server on your node and point Wasabi to it, ensuring all Bitcoin network interactions happen through your own node, bypassing third parties for getting blocks, fee estimations, block filters, and broadcasting transactions.
🔐 Create & Recover SLIP 39 Shares
You can now create and recover wallets with multiple share backups using SLIP 39. Simply specify the number of shares and the required threshold for recovery (e.g., a 2-of-3 scheme requires 2 of the 3 generated seed phrases to unlock the funds).
This offers additional flexibility for backups, as individual shares can be compromised without endangering funds.
Special thanks to Trezor (SatoshiLabs) for sponsoring this amazing feature.
💪 Nostr Update Manager
We're introducing a cutting-edge mechanism using the censorship-resistant Nostr network to receive update information and download locations instead of relying on GitHub's goodwill.
This considerably improves resiliency, allowing updates even if GitHub is inaccessible. Naturally, the manager still verifies that displayed updates are signed by our secure certificate.
🤯 And more…
We've also been busy under the hood with several miscellaneous improvements:
- Updated Avalonia to v11.2.7, fixing numerous UI bugs (including restoring Minimize on macOS Sequoia!).
- Added a configurable third-party fallback for broadcasting transactions if other methods fail.
- Changed our Windows Code Signing Certificate, now using Azure Trusted Signing.
- Fixed numerous bugs, improved our codebase, and enhanced our CI pipeline.
- Provided the option to avoid using any third-party Exchange Rate and Fee Rate providers (Wasabi can work without them).
- Rebuilt all JSON Serialization mechanisms avoiding default .NET converters. Serialization is now stricter.
🔮 A Glimpse of Tomorrow
This new version brings us closer to our ultimate goal: ensuring Wasabi is future-proof.
Our main focus areas for survival are:
- Ensuring users can always fully and securely use their client.
- Making contribution and forks easy through a codebase of the highest quality possible: understandable, maintainable, and improvable.
Simultaneously, we aim for Wasabi to remain a top-notch choice for self-custody Bitcoin wallets, bringing privacy without frustration.
As we achieve our survival goals, expect more cutting-edge improvements in Bitcoin privacy and self-custody.
Thank you for the trust you place in us by using Wasabi.
Stay tuned 👀

Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.5.0 continues to enhance Wasabi's resilience and contains small but insightful improvements to the interface.
v2.5.1
v2.5.1 Fixes a bug with the recovery workflow introduced in v2.5.0
💪 3rd Party Providers for Fee Estimations & Exchange Rate
Fee rate estimations and exchange rate providers are now configurable.
Previously, this information was provided by Wasabi's backend. This change aligns with our long-term goal of completely removing dependence on the backend.
After this release, Wasabi will be significantly closer to achieving that goal, with most basic wallet features functioning without an active backend connection. You can read more about the remaining steps on GitHub.
👨🔧 Quality of Life Features
In the last version, we introduced a donation button to gauge community interest in funding Wasabi's future. We have been overwhelmed by the support and interest shown by our community, including long-time users and privacy enthusiasts.
We want to thank you for believing in Wasabi and for your support, whether through using the software, providing feedback, contributing financially, or contributing to the open-source project in any form.
To show our gratitude, we've designed this release for you, our community. We've finally addressed some of the oldest bugs and feature requests that have been long-awaited!
Listing all the improvements would be too lengthy, but here are some examples:
- Randomly skipping rounds was removed
- Coinjoin settings & profiles are now all in a single tab
- More information in the status icon
- Resync button now available in Tools
And much more...
We expect these improvements to significantly enhance the overall experience of using Wasabi as your daily Bitcoin wallet. Take a tour or read the release details on GitHub to see all of them!
📦 Backend and Coordinator packaged for Linux
The Debian package now includes two extra binaries: one for the backend (Wallet API) and one for the coordinator (Coinjoin API).
This makes it easier for community members to run a backend and/or a coordinator, private or publicly accessible, which lowers the barrier to contributing to the resiliency of Wasabi's infrastructure against potential attacks and technical failures.

Release Highlights
🥕 Taproot receive addresses 🚀 Faster transaction broadcasting 🔍 Help to setup and find a coordinator ⏫ More accurate CPFP fee estimation 📉 Safer protocol 🪲 Backend optimizations
Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.2.0.0 release
This version of Wasabi is full of extra features, improvements, and fixes. The highlights are:
🥕 Taproot receive addresses
Users can now choose taproot when generating a new receiving address. Spending a taproot input is 16% cheaper compared to spending a native segwit input. Users aren’t the only ones that benefit - Bitcoin nodes can verify taproot’s signatures faster than legacy ones, so the entire network gets a little speed boost.
🚀 Faster transaction broadcasting
A more sophisticated transaction broadcasting mechanism was introduced to make the process faster. Transactions are now broadcast to multiple nodes in parallel (through the Tor network) and fail more quickly if the transaction is rejected by the network. Users who upgrade will notice it now takes half as long to send their coins.
🔍 Help to setup and find a coordinator
A new message is now shown when no coordinator is configured, along with some help to understand how to find and setup one.
⏫ More accurate CPFP fee estimation
The CPFP feature now takes into account the fee paid by the parent transaction. In previous releases, the child transaction assumed the parent paid 0 sats in fees, and thus always overpaid for the speed up.. This improvement will be especially significant in high-fee environments, where the CPFP feature is most useful!
📉 Safer protocol
In order to avoid introducing unknown incentives and to limit risk to users, the coordination fee concept has been removed. Only coinjoin coordinators that don't charge any coordination fee continue to be supported.
🪲 Backend optimizations
Users who run a Wasabi backend can now do so with a pruned node and significant CPU/RAM savings. This makes hosting a backend much cheaper and helps to decentralize this component which Wasabi clients still depend on.

Release Highlights
🔒 Set minimum coinjoin input count 🔒 Stricter absolute limits for maximum coinjoin mining fee rate and minimum coinjoin input count 🔒 Prevent solo coinjoining 👀 Coordinator Connection String 👀 Advanced send Workflow
Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.1.0.0 adds safeguards for coinjoin participants. Clients can now set their own policies regarding minimum input count and maximum coordination fee to protect from malicious coordinators which tries to charge more than they announce.
Apply coinjoin coordination policies to all rounds:
It was possible for a malicious coordinator to bypass the client policies for blame round and set different coordination fees for those. v2.1.0.0 fixes this issue by enforcing the policies to blame rounds too.
Stricter safeguards:
Wasabi clients use more restrictive policies that guarantee that even in presence of a malicious coordinator, the risk of losing money is mitigated. These are: absolute maximum coordination fee rate changed from 0.01 to 0.005, absolute minimum input count changed from 2 to 5.
Prevent signing coinjoin where there is only one participant:
A malicious coordinator could set the minimum input count as a very low number to create coinjoins where all the inputs belong to the same user. In v2.1.0.0 clients don't sign transaction where there are no other participants.
Coordinator Connection String
Changing coordinator has never been easier! Coordinators can create a connection string that once in the clipboard will be recognized by Wasabi and allow the client to be quickly configured to coinjoin with it.
Advanced send Workflow
The sending whole coin feature has been replaced by a new Manual Control feature to allow users to specify which coins can be used for sending.

Release Highlights
💸 Set maximum coinjoin mining fee rate 🔒 Set maximum coinjoin coordination service fee 👀 Verify coinjoin mining fee matches requested rate
Release Summary
Wasabi Wallet v2.0.8.1 adds additional safeguards for coinjoin fees. Clients can now set their own fee policies to avoid participating in coinjoin rounds that cost more than expected.
Set Maximum coinjoin mining fee rate:
In previous versions of Wasabi, transaction fees for coinjoins were controlled using the “Coinjoin Time Preference” setting. This abstracts the concept of fees so users can coinjoin at the cheapest time of the day, week, or month.
This version allows users to specify the exact fee threshold (in sats/vbyte) that they are willing to pay so that overpriced rounds are skipped. The default maximum fee rate is set to 150 sats/vbyte.
Set maximum coinjoin coordination service fee:
Coinjoin coordinators may charge a service fee from participants in their rounds. Before, clients automatically rejected any coordinator fee over 1%. However, this is not sufficient to protect users against reckless coordinator configs that provide little privacy per round without free remixing.
The default coordination fee rate is now set to 0%, users can opt in to increasing this limit in order to use paid coordinators.
Verify coinjoin mining fee rate matches requested rate:
If a coordinator requests a specific fee rate at input registration, clients will ensure that the final fee rate matches (or exceeds) the originally requested value. This prevents a malicious coordinator from pocketing fees that users intended to pay to miners.
