Notes de la versió

Improvements
- Px now requires pymcurl 8.23.0.2 or newer, which provides the keepalive,
low-speed timeout, and auth-retry APIs used by Px.
- PAC dnsResolve() (and so isResolvable()/isInNet()) and IP-based
--noproxy matching use a cached, bounded DNS resolver: successful and
failed lookups are cached, concurrent lookups of one name are shared, and
slow resolvers no longer stall unrelated requests (#273).
- px --test now reports every connectivity check as passed or failed and
completes all checks before returning a failure status (#274).
- Release binaries and Docker images bundle the newest CPython 3.13 patch
available to the build tools (uv's python-build-standalone,
actions/setup-python, python.org's Windows embed zips, and the
python:3.13-alpine image), and log the bundled version (#275).
- Installation docs now cover uninstalling Px for winget, pip and standalone
binary installs, including removing the Windows auto-start entry first.
New features
- Switched to libuv-based event loops: winloop on Windows, uvloop on
Linux/macOS. These replace Python's default asyncio event loop with libuv,
providing significantly improved throughput for CONNECT tunnels and fixing
px randomly becoming unresponsive on Windows after network disruptions
(CPython bug #93821). Falls back to the default event loop gracefully if
the libuv library is not available (#268).
- New --event-loop=auto|asyncio option (PX_EVENT_LOOP, event_loop in
px.ini) to run on Python's default asyncio event loop instead of
winloop/uvloop.
- New --authretry=<seconds> option (PX_AUTHRETRY, authretry in
px.ini) takes a float number of seconds (fractions allowed) and lets Px
probe an upstream proxy again after it has been blocked for repeated 407s.
For example, --authretry=300 retries every 5 minutes. Once blocked, one
request is let through per interval and all other requests are refused until
that probe succeeds. A successful response unblocks the proxy immediately;
another 407 re-blocks it. Default 0 keeps blocked proxies blocked until
Kerberos ticket renewal or restart. Thanks to #276 (enkunkun) for identifying
the problem.
Bug fixes
- The macOS binary no longer links Homebrew's OpenSSL by absolute path, which
made SSL and pyspnego fail to load on Macs without that exact Homebrew
version. It is now built with a self-contained python-build-standalone
CPython. The release build scans every bundled Mach-O file and rejects
/opt/homebrew or /usr/local references before publishing.
- Fixed macOS Nuitka binaries omitting pyspnego's NTLM dependencies, which
prevented authenticated proxy use. Missing dependency messages now show the
original import error, and binary builds smoke-check those imports before
artifact tests run.
- px --quit now flushes its successful shutdown response before exiting, so
Nuitka and Windows embedded binaries reliably stop instead of leaving their
proxy port bound.
- PAC DNS helpers no longer hold up all PAC evaluation during slow name
resolution. Failed or timed-out dnsResolve() requests now return null,
so isResolvable() and isInNet() correctly reject unresolved hosts;
myIpAddress() no longer depends on hostname DNS (#273).
- IP-based --noproxy checks now use the bounded DNS resolver and reuse its
cached results instead of performing a new unbounded DNS lookup per request
(#273).
- --idle now also applies to plain-HTTP transfers: a response that sends no
data for that long is aborted.
- Listen backlog raised from 128 to 2048, avoiding ~1 second SYN-retransmit
stalls at 200+ concurrent connections.
- TCP_NODELAY is now set on accepted client connections on the plain asyncio
loop, removing ~40 ms per round trip on CONNECT tunnels.
- Fixed --kerberos crashing Px at startup with OSError: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor on hosts where kinit is not installed; Px now logs
Kerberos: kinit not found and keeps running.
Internal
- macOS test jobs (the CI test and benchmark jobs and test-binary) now run on
uv-managed CPython instead of setup-python's. On the macOS 15+ runners
(macos-latest is macos-26) Python from setup-python or Homebrew stalls
every reverse lookup of 127.0.0.1 for about 35 seconds because it lacks
the Local Network permission. Every px start, px --quit and stdlib test
server (http.server, pytest-httpbin) paid that stall, so each macOS
3.10-3.14 suite took about 19m31s against 15s once the interpreter was
unaffected. uv-managed CPython is not affected.
- The test suite now fails fast on macOS CI: a session-start probe times
gethostbyaddr, urllib.request.getproxies and px's parse_config in fresh
interpreters, prints the timings in the pytest header, and stops the run if
one takes over 10 seconds. tests/test_startup.py also bounds px start and
--quit. Test servers no longer reverse-resolve loopback addresses.
- test-binary launches the extracted binary (smoke_binary: --help, the
auth import check and, on macOS, the portability check) on the clean test
runner before any tox environment, so a missing library fails in seconds.
- macOS release builds fail early if the build interpreter's _ssl or
_hashlib links Homebrew or /usr/local libraries, and fail after the build
if any Mach-O file in px.dist references either path. The frozen-binary
smoke check imports ssl and spnego before artifact tests.
- A manual build.yml dispatch now calls the full ci.yml matrix as the
complete pre-release gate. Linux Nuitka and uv container caches persist
safely between release runs, and artifact testing now runs each offline wheel
on Python 3.10–3.14 plus the compiled binary once rather than repeating the
binary suite for every Python environment.
- New tools/release-check.sh replays build.yml's Linux x86_64 release jobs
(sdist, wheels, Nuitka binary and binary tests for glibc and musl) locally
with Docker; it is the required check before dispatching build.yml on
devel.
- The binary test job's tox driver environment is now pinned to Python 3.14.
In the glibc ubuntu test container, which has no Python, uv picked the
newest release (3.15) and the binary environment failed to install uvloop
(found by the local release check).
- Added a weekly automatic patch-release workflow that prepares dependency and
CPython updates from master, gates the exact candidate through the existing
CI matrix, and only then fast-forwards master to start release builds.
Manual dry runs report candidates without pushing or publishing, and failed
CI runs update a single auto-release blocked issue.
- Changed the release-build CPython freshness guards to warn rather than fail
when python.org has published a newer 3.13 patch than uv's
python-build-standalone, actions/setup-python, the Windows embed zip
index, or the python:3.13-alpine image provides. This blocked all 6 binary
jobs in release-build dry run 40266792761 the day 3.13.18 appeared. Builds
still reject a missing, unparsable, or wrong-minor interpreter, bundle and
log the newest patch each tool offers, and rely on automatic releases to
keep that patch current.
- The test helper now starts every Px instance with an explicit empty config
file so a px.ini that test_config temporarily writes next to the px
script under pytest -n auto can no longer leak into other tests' Px
processes (this caused sporadic "Px didn't start" failures).
- New px/resolver.py module with a bounded DNS worker pool, positive and
negative TTL caches and in-flight de-duplication, used by px.pac and
px.wproxy (#273).
- New tools/bench_dns_stalls.py benchmark measuring PAC and --noproxy
latency and throughput under slow or failing DNS (#273).
- Release builds refresh quickjs-ng to the latest PyPI version and log the
resolved version rather than using an older locked release.
- Added the reviewed uv.lock dependency lockfile so CI, developer checkouts,
and ORC verification use identical dependency versions.
- Added a slow pytest marker (pyproject.toml) for tests that are
inherently slow — --authretry tests that assert real retry intervals, and
the full chained-proxy auth matrix in test_proxy_auth_upstream/
test_proxy_auth_chain. pytest tests and make test still run them, but
pytest tests -m "not integration and not benchmark and not largedata and not slow" skips them for a fast inner-loop run (~6s vs ~21-27s for the
full suite, measured with -n auto). Also fixed two tests that were slow
only because of an avoidable wait rather than what they verify:
test_pac.py's dnsResolve tests now mock getaddrinfo instead of making
a real DNS lookup (previously bounded by a 3s timeout per lookup, and prone
to platform-dependent resolution differences); and
test_network.py::test_allow_specific_subnet no longer tears down through
--quit, which --allow=10.0.*.* makes impossible for --quit to target
(get_listen() has no local IP to pick), so the test was paying for 3
doomed --quit retries plus a 10s kill timeout (~17s) every run for an
outcome that was never in doubt.
- Split ci.yml into a fast mode and a full mode so push/PR feedback no longer
waits on the 19-minute macOS jobs (baseline wall time was about 20 minutes
for 24 jobs). Push and pull request runs execute a small matrix (quality,
Kerberos, Ubuntu Python 3.10 and 3.14, Ubuntu asyncio, Windows Python 3.14
and asyncio, musl x86_64 Python 3.14) with slow tests deselected. The full
matrix (every Python, OS, architecture, event loop, musl variant, macOS,
large-data, benchmarks and slow tests) runs on workflow_dispatch, a weekly
schedule, and workflow_call, and auto-release.yml explicitly dispatches
it with full=true. The matrices come from the new tools/ci_matrix.py
(tested by tests/test_ci_matrix.py) through a plan job, so each job kind
has one definition. Every pytest invocation in CI now passes
--durations=30 to report the slowest tests. See docs/testing.md.
