1.132.0 17 de maig del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
This release delivers something that we hope will make most users’ lives easier, whether they’re veteran Pulsar users or brand-new users giving us a try: a [new core terminal package](/posts/20260510-savetheclocktower-terminal-package/)!

Also on offer: a new experimental setting that we think will improve the experience of switching Git branches. When enabled, core.promptOnConflict will recognize when you’ve made edits against a file whose contents changed on disk _after_ you started making the edits, and will warn you when you try to save your edits! This is one step toward improving the experience of users who often switch branches in version control.

We’ve also added a setting that might make life easier for those who routinely edit large files, quality-of-life improvements for Pulsar contributors and package authors, better window management when opening projects from the command line, new configurable behavior for autocomplete-plus, and a handful of improvements to syntax highlighting.

As always, a huge thank you to our community, contributors, and donations.
Happy coding, and see you amongst the stars!

## 1.132.0

- New terminal package!
- New editor.largeFileThreshold setting that allows the user to configure the file-size threshold of the “large file mode” present in TextMate-style grammars.
- New experimental setting: core.promptOnConflict. When enabled, Pulsar will ask for confirmation if you try to save an item while it’s in a “conflicted” state. You may decide whether to cancel or proceed with overwriting the file on disk. (For an editor, the “conflicted” state occurs if you open a file and make changes, but another program writes different contents to the file on disk before you can save your changes in Pulsar.) Since this setting is experimental, it is disabled by default… but we encourage users to enable it and help us test it!
- Minor Electron version increase to v30.5.1.

1.131.3 20 de març del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
This is a quick release in order to fix a regression introduced in one of the bug fixes included in the 1.132.2 release.
Four patch releases under 1.131 is plenty, as far as we're concerned! We hope to get back to working on the next regular release and the slew of new features we've got planned. See you then!
> Reminder for .rpm users: (There is an issue with the postuninstall scriptlet from the Pulsar 1.131.0 and 1.131.1 .rpms, causing the unintended removal of pulsar and ppm from /usr/bin/, specifically during upgrade installs. See #1482 for details.)
>
> For pulsar and ppm to remain on your PATH, please uninstall any copy of the Pulsar 1.131.0 or 1.131.1 .rpm before installing this release's .rpm, or alternatively you can dnf install and then dnf reinstall this release's updated .rpm. Furthermore, installing any two patched .rpms, such 1.131.2 and this one, would also flush out the old scriptlet and resolve the issue.

Hello again, everyone! This release has a focus on bug fixes since our big Electron 30 upgrade! We've been busy addressing the issues our community has found since the release of v1.131.0.
Thanks to @asiloisad, we've got a new way to add multiple roots to a project at once via atom.project.addPaths. We're also excited to see a contribution from @catb0t, their first ever contribution to the project!

Hello, and welcome, one and all! This release brings the long-awaited (and long-previewed in our Rolling releases) upgrade to Electron 30 to our stable "Regular" releases!
Catching up, at least somewhat, with the rapid pace of new Electron versions is a goal we've been actively working on since we started Pulsar almost 4 years ago. We're happy to make one of the larger steps in that direction since we began with this release (from Electron 12 to Electron 30.) We recognize that Electron 30 is still not the latest Electron version, but it took a tremendous amount of work to get here, and we are still working diligently on further upgrades.
On a more business-as-usual note, we also have several language/grammar improvements, various bugfixes and miscellaneous improvements. Please see the full changelog below for details.
We're very excited for this milestone, and please do let us know if anything needs fixing -- this was a huge undertaking under the hood! (Did we mention the accompanying blog post?: https://blog.pulsar-edit.dev/posts/20251202-savetheclocktower-pulsar-on-electron-30/)
As always, a huge thank you to our community, contributors, and donations.
Happy coding, and see you amongst the stars!

## 1.131.0

Because this is such a huge upgrade to Pulsar, some of your community packages may be affected!
If you handle distributions for Pulsar as a community maintainer make sure to read this changelog carefully to make things compatible!
For more information, read [Pulsar on Electron 30: what it means for you](https://blog.pulsar-edit.dev/posts/20251202-savetheclocktower-pulsar-on-electron-30/).

- Update Electron to version 30!
* Node is now version 20.11.1
* Chromium is now version 124
* This means better performance, better Node library compatibility, and ability for community packages to use newer features of Chromium.
* It should also vastly improve the Pulsar experience for Linux users in Wayland environments.
* Because this is such a big upgrade, some of your community packages might be affected!
- Bump ppm to use Node 20.11.1
* For the first time in a long time, both ppm and Pulsar are using the same version of Node; this should avoid some rare bugs encountered when installing certain packages.
- Fix handling when opening files to certain line numbers via CLI - e.g. pulsar foo.txt:30.
- Prevent packages from spawning new background tasks if the environment is unloading (as would happen during a window reload or while quitting Pulsar).
- [find-and-replace] Fix an issue where certain files would show results in a project-wide search even when they would be excluded by the file/directory pattern.
- [markdown-preview] Fix situations where "Save as HTML" and "Copy as HTML" silently failed with certain kinds of content.
- [autocomplete-plus] Prevent certain kinds of suggestions from being incorrectly filtered out of the result set.
- [language-java] Update to the latest tree-sitter-java parser, adding support for multiline strings, among other things.
- [language-python] Better highlighting of except clauses; fixed folding of certain if blocks.
- [language-typescript] Better highlighting of template literals; adding folding of interface and enum blocks.
- [language-javascript] Proper highlighting of JSX with namespaced attributes.

Notes de la versió
Hotfix: Restore Windows app to working condition, after it was mis-built in v1.130.0.
Description of the issue affecting v1.130.0 on Windows: The Windows version of the app was broken, due to its native C/C++ dependencies remaining built for NodeJS when electron-rebuild failed, and due to our CI being mistakenly configured in a way that hid the failure. Electron-rebuild failed in CI due to a missing Windows 10 SDK.
Resolution: We have worked around the missing Windows 10 SDK issue in CI by installing it manually, and also updated our CI workflow so that a failure of electron-rebuild would be more likely to be caught.
Note: Binaries for macOS and Linux are also provided to make it simple to find the latest binaries for all platforms attached to one GitHub Release. Other than coming from a new CI run with a new patch version bump, there should be no other changes from v1.130.0 on macOS or Linux.

# Pulsar 1.130.0: Spooktacular Edition

Welcome to another Spooktacular Pulsar release!
To welcome in the Autumn, we'd like to shout out some updates to our website!
The long awaited revamp of our web presence not only massively improves and updates our documentation, it also unifies our web design. There are new subdomains for each service, and we've put our hugely improved documentation live (which you may have seen during its beta period). It's now more in-depth and updated, and it's finally got auto-updating API docs for Pulsar, which we have been missing since the beginning.
As for the Pulsar editor itself, we've got some updated Tree-sitter and language support, as well as autocomplete-css and autocomplete-plus updates and improvements, a focus fix for tree-view on Windows, a fix so that find-in-project searches properly exclude open-and-modified files that don't match the given path filter, and a change to `snippets` to restore legacy compatibility with the `emmet` package.
A new "I18n" API (short for "internationalization") allows Pulsar and even community packages to localize all their text to a user's preferred language. It's in its very early stages, but after some more time and work you should be able to set your preferred language and have Pulsar respect it.
As always, a huge thank you to our community, contributors, and donations.
Happy coding, and see you amongst the stars!

## 1.130.0
- `autocomplete-plus` can now make other text edits to the buffer when a suggestion is accepted - for instance, adding an `import` for that suggestion.
- Experimental localization support is now being added into the editor, allowing the editor, core packages and even community packages to localize their interface for any language.
- `autocomplete-css` has gotten significantly updated completions.
- Various documentation and UI links updated after website update.
- Changed some returns in a backwards compatible way to ensure the community package `emmet` will work again.

1.125.0 22 de gener del 2025 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
Pulsar v1.125.0: Happy New Years!
The Pulsar team is happy to welcome everyone to the new year on our 2̶0̶25th regular release.
We've gone back on our last update's decision to add source comment to the spell-check.grammar setting by default, as it had a greater performance impact than anticipated. This does mean that by default comments in code are no longer spell-checked — but if you liked the feature, you can add that setting back in! Just re-add source comment to the list of scopes under "Settings > Packages > spell-check > Grammars."
We've also restored an internal API that was changed a while back, after we learned the change affected the project-plus community package.
We have our usual improvements to the Tree-sitter grammars — such as language-css's parser being updated to the latest, and language-python getting improved indentation hinting for some unusual code constructs.
We've fixed an issue that would cause pulsar and ppm to be removed from the user's PATH on Windows during an upgrade, to ensure the choices you select during installation are respected.
We've also engaged in some maintenance and updates to our CI operations, to ensure we can keep things working on all of our supported platforms.
As always, a huge thank you to our community, contributors, and donations.
Happy coding, and see you amongst the stars!
- The Pulsar Team
- The Windows installer no longer removes pulsar and ppm from your path when you update Pulsar to a newer version.
- [spell-check] Removed source comment from the list of automatically checked scopes because of reports of high CPU usage. This means that Pulsar will no longer automatically perform spell-checking for all code comments in all source files. (If you liked the behavior, you can add it back to the list in the spell-check.grammars config setting.)
- [language-python] Improved indentation hinting in some unusual scenarios like on one-line blocks and after code comments.
- [language-css] Updated tree-sitter-css to latest. Selector handling is now much better when typing incomplete selectors in a brand-new CSS file or at the bottom of an existing file.
- Restored functionality of project-plus via exposing previously removed internal APIs.

A Valentine's release bursting with love, Pulsar 1.114.0 is available now!
Welcome to a brand new Pulsar release! I think it is safe to say that this month has been one of our more eventful due to the switchover we made to the new Tree-sitter implementation. This release features a lot of updates and fixes for this new implementation, thanks to all the feedback we got from the community. We also have a number of other bug fixes and new features to introduce, such as restoring compatibility with older Linux distributions, and a new flag for an old favorite ppm command. As mentioned above, we have quite a few changes relating to our new Tree-sitter implementation that we made default in Pulsar 1.113.0. First of all, we have some fixes and updates to make sure the new implementation isn't a regression from the legacy implementation. One such update is restoring support for the semanticolor package, which was supported by the previous implementation. Otherwise, if you had any particular issue with syntax highlighting, then we hope it has now been resolved, as a lot of changes and fixes have been made in response to community feedback. If not, then please visit our ongoing "Mega-issues" and see if your issue has been raised, and if not, please raise it there.Back in Pulsar 1.111.0, we created a new UI api to make an easy and universal way for packages to interact with Pulsar. This implementation did contain a couple of small oversights, which have now been resolved. One issue with the markdown implementation was the display of non-functional heading anchors when rendering a package README; the other was a small rendering bug that was causing a misalignment of content after a linebreak. We had also inadvertently introduced a new problem with fuzzymatcher that could cause the command palette to hang if it failed to highlight a match. One issue raised a while ago was that, starting with Pulsar 1.109.0, users of older LTS Linux distributions, such as AlmaLinux 8 and RockyLinux 9, were no longer able to run Pulsar. This was due to the CI runners we use being updated to newer OSs, and therefore Pulsar was being compiled against a newer version of glibc. We have changed our workflows to compile Pulsar in a Debian 10 Docker container instead, which should resolve this problem. It was noticed a while ago that the github package wasn't quite working correctly on ARM Linux systems. We have bumped the version of dugite (a library for using git in NodeJS and Electron) to resolve the problem.Lastly, we have two new features in ppm. The first is a new flag --force that can be specified on ppm link, which will forcibly replace a conflicting package without needing to manually remove it. The other is an update to ppm's syntax theme template so that, when generating a new syntax theme, it now includes some style variables that the editor has long supported, but which were not in the template, so theme authors might have been unaware of them. (As a bonus: there are two new variables supported by default in the editor, and added to the template as well! Theme authors, feel free to take advantage of these!)And that is it for yet another Pulsar release. We hope you enjoy this release and look forward to the next one!Until next time, happy coding, and see you amongst the stars!- The Pulsar team
