# Nested Pinokio Folder Support

Previously, `pinokio.js` had to live at the root of a project. Now it can also live at `pinokio/pinokio.js`, and Pinokio will automatically discover the scripts.

2. Home Server Fix
There was one hole with home server. You could connect to your Pinokio home server from any other machine on the same network (such as another laptop, tablet, or phone), BUT, you couldn't install apps from the Explore page. This is now fixed. Now 100% of the home server features work.

3. Conda Update Fix
Some people had problem upgrading since Pinokio 8.0.0 because the miniconda/miniforge folders were not getting reset properly (which was needed for these versions). This would happen if one of your other programs were opening one of the files inside pinokio.
Now when this happens, Pinokio displays precisely which process is holding those files so you can kill them, and once that's done, automatically proceeds with the rest of the update process. For example, here I turn off an older version of Logitech G Hub, after which the update proceeds:

4. Completely Hide Sidebar
Previously when you hide the sidebar, it would still show up when you hover your mouse over to the left side of the screen. But often you do not want this. You want your app to take up the full width, period.
Now you can toggle this behavior by turning off "Show on hover". Notice how after you turn it off, it doesn't come back even if you hover your mouse over to the left. You can of course open it by clicking the expand button at the top.

8.0.8 -- Hotfix
A handful of important bugs were fixed.
ESM Support
When you install an app that used ESM in a script, it would just hang the entire app and brick Pinokio (Example https://pinokio.co/apps/github-com-dudarenok-maker-castwright)
This has now been fixed. Although ESM is NOT recommended for writing pinokio scripts, at least now it doesn't crash the entire app.
Custom Conda Environment Fix
Apps that use custom conda environments were broken at install time. This was a conda (miniforge) internals issue, and this has been fixed by invalidating the conda environment and forcing reinstall of the entire conda environment and conda dependencies (Sorry for the inconvenience, but this was the cleanest fix without introducing technical debt).
It should just tell you conda needs to be updated (as well as other conda dependencies). Just install and it should be fine.
Github login fix
Github login was broken. Now properly uses git credential manager, waits for your login on the web, and auto closes the credential manager after logging in.
Huggingface login fix
When you use "hf.login" method, it would open a modal that displays the code, which you have to paste into the huggingface auth screen. But previously the code was not automatically copied to the clipboard so it was confusing. Now the code is automatically copied to the clipboard, so you can just paste into the huggingface auth screen.
Instant login page
Previously the Instant login page took long to load, but now it instantly loads and dynamically refreshes the state

Domain related hotfix
Fixes the broken "Discover" page problem.
Migrating to use the github pages URL directly, in order to fix not just the current domain issue, but also make sure this type of thing never happens in the future even in the worst case scenario.
By hosting the website entirely on github pages, and using the github pages URL directly (instead of using a custom domain that requires maintenance) we can be sure that even in the worst case the app will keep running (unless github shuts down).

libsqlite fix
libsqlite 3.49.0 has made a breaking change that breaks apps like stable-diffusion-webui or forge https://github.com/conda-forge/sqlite-feedstock/issues/130
This is not a Pinokio bug, but anyone using a conda package that relies no libsqlite would have this issue (even if you manually install stuff without even using pinokio). As seen here https://github.com/lllyasviel/stable-diffusion-webui-forge/issues/2669 and many other places.
The fundamental fix should be for the conda sqlite maintainers to actually fix this broken release but since we can't wait, going to fix this so it works even when they don't fix it anytime soon.
Fixed it by pinning sqlite at 3.47.2

Yet another FFMPEG fix
Problem: 3.6.5 Bugfix fixed the install issue (it wasn't even installing because a conda issue), but when actually trying to use after successfully installing (for example to extract frames) it was failing with DLL issues.
Solution: Pin FFMPEG=5.1.2

1. FFMPEG FIX: the latest version of ffmpeg conda package is broken because of some conflict, pin it to the previous version that works
2. Mac sudo shell fix: use the new applet code that supports all archs

3. Windows Visual Studio Refactor
1. Handle cases where there are already multiple visual studio instances installed
2. Handle cases where there are corrupt or paused installations of visual studio (build tools)
3. Display a warning that if you get in an install loop, the best solution is to just open visual studio installer and uninstall broken installs
4. Linux CUDA & G++ Compatibility Fix
By default NVCC for CUDA121 requires G++ no greater than 12. But globally installed G++ may have higher versions and it would result in failure
5. More robust available port checking
is_port_running(port): To take into account ALL possible cases, instead of trying to create sockets to a url with a port, just simulate starting a server at the port, and if there's an exception, then it means the port doesn't work.

Sorry for the frequent releases, but it's important that we get this out asap so here we go.
One other edge case we discovered with Visual Studio Build Tools is, often VS buildtools 2022 FAILS when used during building wheels.
If you search online, the recommendation is to "downgrade" to 2019, so if we really wanted to have a robust system, Pinokio should enforce visual studio build tools 2019 no matter what. What this means is:
1. If no visual studio installed => Install visual studio build tools 2019
2. if visual studio build tools 2022 installed => install visual studio build tools 2019 => now you have both 2019 and 2022 (but pinokio will always use 2019 since 2022 often doesn't work and we can't risk that)
3. If Visual Studio is installed (2022, 2019, etc) => Also install visual studio build tools 2019 => now you have normal visual studio and visual studio build tools 2019
Going forward, Pinokio will always make the user install Visual Studio Build Tools 2019.

Visual Studio Build Tools Hotfix
Previous fix from 3.3.25 neglected the scenario where the user doesn't have visual studio build tools installed (which will be true for most new--non developer--users just installing pinokio).
Because i couldn't uninstall and reinstall visual studio every time i test the new version, neglected to check this scenario. But just replicated this by actually uninstalling build tools and starting from scratch.
The problem has been fixed now. New users should not have any issue getting started

Windows Fix
This release is mainly for Windows users. More specifically for apps that require building/compiling from source code.
Visual Studio Build Tools and CUDA were not working properly on Windows. This didn't affect a lot of apps since many apps use prebuilt wheels. But some apps (such as 3D mesh generation AI apps) required building from source, and these apps were failing to install for many users.
This updated fixes all of this.
1. Visual Studio Handling: instead of injecting environment variables manually, just use the official vcvarsall.bat right after conda activation.
2. CUDA Handling: In case there's a globally installed CUDA that gets leaked in, remove those attributes so the base environment will use the CUDA installed inside the pinokio home environment

fs.link hotfix
fs.link fix for installing pip from github (ex: git+https://github.com/huggingface/diffusers.git)
- fixes fluxgym install issue, as well as other installers that use fs.link on any pip package that installs from github

Linux install issue fix
Because on linux installing playwright with --install-deps flag requires root access, the initial requirement setup step fails for every linux user.
So just don't do it for now. Only install playwright itself and the browsers.
The dependencies can be installed manually only if needed (by the users).
Now Playwright is installed under ~/pinokio/bin/playwright/node_modules, and the browsers are stored at ~/pinokio/bin/playwright/browsers

Previously when you shut down Pinokio before shutting down apps, some of the remaining app processes may stick around, causing issues such as:
1. Keep consuming memory even when they all should be shut down
2. Sometimes you get "uvicorn" related errors saying the process is still running (This is because when you closed Pinokio last time, the uvicorn server inside pinokio kept sticking around even though it should have been shut down along with Pinokio)
3. Sometimes you can't delete folders because the folders are locked. All because the process associated with those folders are still running
Basically this update is a critical fix if you want to use Pinokio in a stable way. No other features have been touched, just this bug fixed, so no reason not to upgrade.

Windows 24H2
Pinokio finally supports Windows 24H2 (Windows Insider Preview Canary + Dev + Beta + Release Candidate). Microsoft will soon roll out Windows 24H2, which breaks how shells work, which breaks all shell manipulation methods in Pinokio.
With Pinokio 2.2.0, the shell engine has been updated to work correctly on 24H2. This is a REQUIRED update.

Open in File Explorer

You can open any files and folders in a file explorer by appending ?fs to any URI in the pinokio.js file. Example:

Navigation Buttons
Based on feedback, the back/forward navigation buttons are back. Now you can navigate back and forth between pages instead of having to go back to home and come back.

The editor mode was broken for a while but all fixed with this version
2. ENVIRONMENT Bug Fix
ENVIRONMENT files were incorrectly being generated when inheriting from the system ENVIRONMENT.

1. Much quicker loading when downloading an app
Previously when trying to download an app, there was a slight freeze of the UI before the download page is loaded. This was because it was checking whether the core modules have been already installed or not every time the download page loaded. This is unnecessary and just making the UX bad, so now it instead checks the core modules at launch, and the download page will load instantly.

2. PINOKIO_SHARE_LOCAL_PORT
The Local Network Sharing feature is great but by default the local share proxy servers are started at random ports. Sometimes you may want to fix these ports instead of dynamically generated.
Now you can do this by setting the PINOKIO_SHARE_LOCAL_PORT environment variable inside each app's "Configure" page.
3. Delete apps from home
Now you can delete apps from Pinokio home with just a click of a button.

4. Blue Screen
Previously when something went wrong on Pinokio it would just freeze with a blank white screen, with no way of understanding what's gone wrong. Now when something goes wrong, Pinokio will displays a "blue screen", displaying the error messages.
5. ENVIRONMENT Inheritance
Now when you set a custom environment variable in the ~/pinokio/ENVIRONMENT file, whenever a new app is installed, the generated ENVIRONMENT file will inherit from the custom attributes in ~/pinokio/ENVIRONMENT.
For example, if you set PINOKIO_SHARE_CLOUDFLARE to true globally through ~/pinokio/ENVIRONMENT, every app folder will automatically inherit this value true (by default it's false)
6. Various Bug Fixes
Some people experienced a blank white screen when upgrading to the last version. Have fixed a couple of issues which probably has fixed this.
7. Port 80 or 42000
Prior to Pinokio 2.0, the default port used by Pinokio has been 42000. With 2.0 this has changed to port 80 (in order to make the URL shorter when using Pinokio in zero-click launch mode inside regular browsers).
However, some people run web servers on their machine (which use port 80), and this caused problems for these users. So with this release, Pinokio tries to use port 80 but if it's already occupied, it uses port 42000.
This should get rid of all the issues related to the port (This was another reason some people were experiencing the "blank white screen" crash)
