Meet Skill Discovery: describe what you want to create, and Open Design finds the relevant Skills to guide the work—from your first idea to the next revision.
Your idea should be the starting point. In 0.26.1, Skill Discovery helps Open Design understand the kind of work you want to make and choose the Skills that fit. You can focus on the result, with less manual setup before creating and more continuity as you refine it. Alongside this, smoother project starts, connected feedback, and steadier previews keep your work moving.

🧠 Skill Discovery: the right Skills for what you have in mind
Describe the result you want. Skill Discovery selects the deliverable type and reads its native Skill guidance, giving Open Design a task-specific starting point. It supports eleven deliverable types, including interactive prototypes and motion work. (#8804)
- Start with your intent. Your explicit request takes priority when it conflicts with a selected task type. Skills and templates you mention provide compatible guidance and references while keeping the requested deliverable in focus.
- Bring the right guidance into the work. Open Design reads the relevant Skill instructions for the chosen type, so you spend less time finding and selecting them yourself.
- Keep the direction as you iterate. Follow-up work carries the chosen Skill guidance forward, keeping revisions consistent. If you ask only for a plan or clarification, that request does not silently become permission to produce the final work.
🔥 Highlights
- 🔗 Share the work, not a pile of screenshots. Publish a design file as one public link, stop it when the review is over, and resume the same link later. Comments left on the shared page flow back to the file, with unread feedback waiting where you work. (#8408, #8859, #8867, #8904) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- 🤖 Bring your own connection — and keep the Agent in the loop. Open Design can use available registered runtimes, and the same BYOK connection works from the app or the od CLI. Your project preview stays isolated to its own work, even when two projects use the same browser storage. (#8702) Thanks @itscheems.
- 🚪 Home now opens straight into the real project. Send an idea from Home and the project is already there: one steady workspace, one Working state, and no disappearing first message while creation or uploads catch up. (#8267) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- 🎬 Motion keeps its rhythm. Video-motion previews stop jumping through music when the browser hiccups; while a video is still being made, you can watch the picture without unexpected sound, then hear the finished result normally. (#8777) Thanks to the Open Design crew.
✨ Added
🎨 Studio, prototypes and media
- Use your organisation's image sources without a key hunt. Open Design can use configured company stock sources while retaining source information and keeping credits out of the finished page unless you ask for them. (#8691)
- Chinese community help now leads to Feishu. Simplified and Traditional Chinese entry points point to the official Feishu community, while other locales continue to use Discord. (#8884) Thanks @joeylee12629-star.
🧠 Agents, workspaces and CLI
- Your MCP tools follow the workspace you selected. Switch workspaces, reconnect, and the bridge now sees the projects and artifacts you actually have open. (#7619) Thanks @roian6.
⚡ Performance
- Spend less time waiting for a Motion export. Desktop video capture is faster while preserving the requested frame size, frame rate, and image quality. (#8798) Thanks @PerishCode.
🐛 Fixed
🧩 Home and projects
- Task choices and the More menu feel like Home again. The task-type controls, cancellation behaviour, compact-window layout, and keyboard navigation are back where your draft can rely on them. (#89 |
| 0.26.0 | 20 d’octubre del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: Share, Review, Refine
🔗 The work can leave the project—and the feedback can find its way home. Share an interactive design or motion video with the people who need to review it; let them watch, try it, and comment in context. Then choose the feedback that matters, send it to an Agent, and keep the review connected to the next round of making.
🔥 Highlights
- 🎞️ Motion Design—make the idea move. Motion Design now appears on Home and in Community, with curated helpers and examples. Start from an editable source, create motion for a video brief, and export an MP4 when the work needs to travel. (#8619)
- 🔗 One link for the team and the client. Copy a work link and send it out: signed-in reviewers can view and try the work in a browser, without installing the desktop app. Motion videos can travel the same way. The shared page shows the work preview and its comments—not the project's AI conversations or code view. (#8408) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- 💬 Comment on the part that needs changing. Select the place in the work that needs attention and leave a comment such as “make this title stand out” or “change this button color.” Everyone sees the same feedback on the same page, with less screenshot markup and fewer clarification loops. (#8408) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- 🤖 Bring feedback back to the project—and hand the revision to an Agent. Comments sync into Open Design. Select the feedback to act on, send it to an Agent, then review the result before the next pass. (#8408) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- 🔄 Update the work, not the link. After a revision, manually refresh the shared content and reviewers can keep using the same URL. They see that a newer version is available and can refresh to view it; end the share whenever the review is done. (#8408) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- 🧩 Plugins stay attached to the work you send. Applying a plugin in an existing project now preserves its selected snapshot and respects the capabilities you already granted. (#7597) Thanks @lorenzozanee.
- 🧠 Bring the model you actually use. During BYOK onboarding, enter a custom model instead of being limited to the suggested list—useful for local Ollama, self-hosted endpoints, and newer models. (#6076) Thanks @dpeterson01.
- 🌀 A stuck chat can find its way back. When a chat log stops following its layout, Open Design recovers scrolling and keeps wheel and keyboard navigation available. (#8251) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🖼️ Finished work shows up where you expect it. After a run creates an image or file, Open Design refreshes its snapshot and opens the result by the existing rules—without taking over a preview you selected yourself. (#8744)
✨ Added
🎨 Studio, editing and canvas
- Motion Design adds curated skills, bundled examples, editable sources, and MP4 production for video-oriented work. (#8619)
🔑 Models and plugins
- BYOK onboarding accepts custom model names alongside the built-in suggestions. (#6076) Thanks @dpeterson01.
- Existing projects retain the plugin snapshot and granted capabilities chosen for an apply. (#7597) Thanks @lorenzozanee.
🐛 Fixed
🤝 Sharing and collaboration
- Signed-in reviewers can view and interact with shared work or motion video in the browser; shared pages intentionally keep project AI conversations and code views private. (#8408) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- Contextual comments sync back to the project, where selected feedback can be sent to an Agent for the next revision. (#8408) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- A shared work link stays stable across manually refreshed revisions and can be stopped when the review is complete. (#8408) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- Existing cloud file identities and aliases are recovered before publishing, so resumed or updated shares keep their original links when local mappings are missing. (#8859, #8867) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- Uploading duplicate filenames in one batch keeps names and contents in submission order. (#8742)
🧠 Agents, runs and Home

| 0.25.0 | 15 d’octubre del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: OpenDesign Motion
The Open-Source Alternative to Claude Motion
🎞️ 53 PRs · 16 contributors · 21 days — Turn ideas into videos with code. Start from five bundled motion examples, create editable animations, and export your work as MP4. This release also makes editing, previews, and continuing work across devices smoother.
🔥 Highlights
- 🎞️ Introducing OpenDesign Motion. Open Motion Design on Home or Community, choose from five bundled examples, and use the motion skills from the @ picker. Ask for a video to get editable source files and an MP4; interactive animations remain runnable HTML. Sound stops when you leave the active preview. (#8619)
- 🧭 Move from a design plan into making it. Design tasks can continue from an ordinary written plan without failing on missing internal response markers. A request for a plan alone stays a plan, and completed work can again offer follow-up suggestions when the model supplies them. (#8356, #8770) Thanks @itscheems.
- 🔄 You decide when another device's changes replace local work. Review a cloud update before applying it. Choosing “Not now” with the 24-hour reminder option silences reminders for that project on that device; the update remains available when you are ready. (#8683) Thanks @PerishCode.
- 🖼️ New files appear, and your preview stays where you left it. Completed tasks refresh the file list so newly created images and other files can open. Manual preview choices stay respected, and restoring a project preserves a saved Design Files selection. (#8744, #8745)
- 💳 An insufficient-credit warning keeps your draft safe. A Home send already held for insufficient funds waits for a confirmed available balance or plan allowance before continuing. A failed check keeps you on Home; dismissing the dialog preserves the draft. A zero wallet balance still allows work when usable Coding Plan quota is available. (#8688, #8775)
- 🤖 Keep working when a model changes or a conversation grows. If an AMR model is removed, the app can use the catalog default and tell you which model was substituted. Long conversations limit repeated image and PDF attachments to reduce request-size failures; older attachments can be read again when needed. (#8602, #8767) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- 🔑 Sign in and start with OpenDesign Hosted. The welcome flow opens Hosted after sign-in, while Local AI and API Key remain available. Sign-in controls show progress, cancellation, and a way to reopen the browser page if needed. (#8567)
- 🔎 Useful diagnostics, with less repeated uploading. Repeated instances of the same API failure are grouped, and AMR failure evidence includes the affected run's records. Windows log rotation preserves the user's consent boundary. (#8461, #8488, #8487) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
✨ Added
🎨 Motion and templates
- Five motion examples to start from: Motion Future, Product Promo, Showreel, UI Morph, and Visual Lesson. Their bundled scripts, fonts, audio, and previews support editing from the example. Video export checks that the resulting MP4 can play; a failed export keeps the editable source available. (#8619)
- Aster Atelier architecture-studio template. Start a website from an editable local example with chapter navigation, service and FAQ sections, and a contact-form demonstration. English and Chinese example prompts are included; the demo does not send real contact requests. (#8314)
🔁 Changed
💬 Everyday work
- Sending clears the composer immediately. If the send cannot proceed, its text, attachments, context, and quotes return, unless you have already started a new draft. (#8380) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- Export, sign-in, update, storage, credit, and stopped-task messages explain what happened in plain language across all 19 supported locales. Export errors no longer show raw technical failure text. (#8620) Thanks @lefarcen.
- Hover over a shortened model name to read it in full in Settings and the composer model pickers. Models locked by a plan retain their upgrade explanation. (#8409) Thanks |

🐛 Fixed
🧠 Agents, runtimes and diagnostics
- A cleanly finished run stays visibly finished. A task-level block no longer turns a clean agent exit into a misleading failed-run card; real crashes and failed exits still remain failures. (#8350) Thanks @itscheems.
- Support bundles retain the clues that matter. Diagnostics now carry daemon health evidence for memory pressure, SQLite growth and unclean exits, whether you export from the app or with od diagnostics export. (#8354) Thanks @PerishCode.
- Failure evidence can be collected before the trail goes cold. With existing consent enabled, detected Agent and delivery failures queue bounded, redacted diagnostics automatically; opting out stops collection. (#8357) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- OD Next sandboxed runs clean up after themselves. The run input access root remains writable for sandbox teardown instead of leaving a run stranded on cleanup. (#8024) Thanks @arqueon.
- Fatal MCP failures say what happened. An MCP stdio process now writes its fatal error before it exits, so the client has a usable diagnostic instead of a silent disappearance. (#7340) Thanks @lorenzozanee.
🖥️ Desktop and presentation
- Updating the desktop app no longer races its own shutdown. Renderer traffic is stopped before the packaged runtime retires, making the restart handoff safer. (#8348) Thanks @PerishCode.
- The fullscreen exit button belongs to the theme you chose. Its colors, hover state and keyboard focus now remain readable in both light and dark presentations. (#7272) Thanks @dennytosp.
- A macOS MCP session can become a desktop window in place. Opening the app after its headless runtime started now reveals the normal window without losing the local session. (#8398) Thanks @PerishCode.
🏠 Home and campaigns
- The task-type menu stays open when you ask for it. A click immediately after Home chooses a type no longer opens the picker only for it to snap shut. (#8386) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- A valid campaign remains present through ordinary interruptions. Network changes, short sleeps and tab switches no longer unnecessarily remove an active campaign; cached content follows its known server schedule while offline. (#8292) Thanks @alchemistklk.

| 0.23.0 | 20 de setembre del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: Home, Rebuilt.
🧵 73 PRs · 8 contributors · 10 days — Open Design 0.23.0 rebuilds the place where work begins and continues. Home, recent projects, run status, and the project conversation now form one clearer route into the work instead of separate places to navigate. 🚀
🔥 Highlights
- 🧠 A clarification can survive the real world. Ask Open Design to continue a task, restart while it needs an answer, then come back and answer it: OD Next keeps the thread resumable instead of quietly abandoning the work. Failed runs now tell the truth before finalization, while delivered prototype pages stay delivered—not mysteriously marked as failures. (#7575, #7980, #7942, #7931, #7949) Thanks @lorenzozanee, @Siri-Ray.
- 💬 The conversation no longer drops its own evidence. Earlier question forms, repeated-file read ranges, artifact updates and successful image next steps stay attached to the right turn. Workspace writes stop posing as deliverables, and quiet auxiliary cards step out of the way. (#7996, #7997, #8019, #8047, #8057, #7920, #7956) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🔁 Retries finally pick up where you left them. Cloud retries wait for the authority and history they need; transient reads recover; folded tasks retain their blocked state and retry the actual failed run. A pending clarification also stays in charge until you answer it. (#7953, #7954, #7955, #7967, #7981, #7989) Thanks @app/open-design-crew.
- 🛠️ ACP results remain readable—even when a run does not. Tool rows now appear while Codex or OpenCode is still preparing their arguments; buffered words, failed tool results and a real cancellation all make it back into the conversation, while URLs stop masquerading as filenames in the record. (#8117, #7959, #8015, #8046, #8063) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- 🖼️ Artifact-heavy chats stay in the order you chose. Cover-image failures have a useful fallback; live updates refresh the card you are already reading; image strips scroll; requested file ranges and selected artifact order remain visible. (#8045, #8060, #8062, #8013) Thanks @app/open-design-crew.
- 🧰 Bring your own model without opening a privacy detour. Image input works when a BYOK provider cannot advertise every capability, while proxy Basic credentials stay out of export and media tool-token lanes. (#8035, #7999, #8006) Thanks @Siri-Ray, @readwrightexecute.
- 📦 The installed app holds onto its engine. Packaged MCP and sidecar delivery remain intact, and updater cleanup no longer removes the launcher payload that is still doing the work. (#8027, #7963) Thanks @PerishCode.
- 🏠 Home starts with a clear place to create. A fresh Home opens ready for a Prototype, and switching creation types keeps the thought already in the composer. An empty balance is answered before leaving Home, while the project hand-off holds its layout steady instead of sliding into place. (#8208, #8278, #8240, #8229) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- 🧩 Long-running work no longer replays itself. A paused clarification keeps its history and waits for you; a compaction continuation can finish committed work in the same session instead of repeating it. (#8225, #8250, #7958) Thanks @lefarcen, @Siri-Ray.

🔁 Changed
- Run clocks now begin when the run really begins; folded runs keep their own clocks, the composer stays visibly preparing during send admission, and retry cards describe the send gate they actually face. (#7921, #7927, #8059, #8069) Thanks @lefarcen.
- Cloud and AMR account, balance and upgrade links now lead to the current dashboard routes instead of sending you on a dead-end detour. (#8126) Thanks @nettee.
- Agent-owned Codex threads are archived after a terminal completion, keeping finished local work from lingering as if it were still alive. (#8051)

| 0.22.2 | 10 de setembre del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versióOpen Design 0.22.2 is a focused desktop update reliability patch for macOS and Windows.
🐛 Fixed
- 🔄 Return to the app more reliably after an update. The updated app waits for the previous instance to finish closing before starting, helping prevent an update restart from ending without a new window. (#7970) Thanks @PerishCode.
- ⏳ Keep clear feedback while an update restarts. An accepted restart no longer shows a quit failure just because closing background work takes more than ten seconds. Repeated quit requests wait for the same cleanup; an explicit quit refusal still offers a retry without reinstalling the update. (#7982) Thanks @PerishCode.
Upgrading from an older version
The first upgrade to 0.22.2 still uses the older app's shutdown screen and behavior. If it reports a quit error but then restarts successfully, the new version can still be installed. Clients already stuck in a restart loop may need help from customer support; this patch does not automatically recover those installations.

🔁 Changed
- 🧭 Start supported design tasks with OD Next. Prototypes, slide decks, marketing designs, and Hyperframes videos use OD Next by default on supported agents. Settings → Labs → Design Harness still lets you turn it off, and an existing choice to disable it stays respected. (#7876)
- 🧰 Keep design work focused. OD Next uses more concise tool guidance, clearer completion instructions, and the active run's workspace when loading media skills. (#7804)

💬 Conversations & recovery
- 🛟 A failed run keeps a useful next step. Failure cards survive returning to a conversation, retain timeout and retry information, and keep Retry available when the current chat cannot switch the run to Cloud. (#7871, #7884, #7897) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🔑 An invalid API key points you to the right fix. Bring-your-own-key authentication errors have their own explanation and a shortcut to model settings. (#7893) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🗺️ Get clearer explanations for run and preview problems. Messages for unavailable models, unsupported capabilities, timeouts, missing preview files, and regional restrictions give more specific guidance. (#7887) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 📝 Keep your answers when sending fails. If a clarification answer cannot start a run, it remains in the conversation with a Retry action that resends the same answer. Internal routing text stays hidden. (#7900) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 📜 Keep following a reply as it grows. A browser scroll adjustment no longer silently switches off automatic following. Scrolling up yourself still lets you read earlier messages. (#7898) Thanks @lefarcen.
🎨 Design & delivery
- 🎬 Failed media work no longer looks complete. When image, video, or audio generation fails before the turn finishes, the turn shows unfinished work instead of a completed checkmark. (#7933) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 💬 A greeting gets a reply. OD Next no longer invents a website for a greeting or a request that does not call for a design, and an explained blocked result avoids a duplicate failure card. (#7725)
- ✅ Keep your web deliverable while syntax checks do their best. Eligible HTML deliverables receive final syntax checks and safe automatic repairs without another agent turn. If a check is incomplete or a safe repair is unavailable, the original artifact remains available and delivery continues. (#7801, #7925) Thanks @lbjzz-hash.
- 🧩 Continue the brief you just collected. The official Codex plugin accepts the workflow identifier returned by brief collection when confirming that brief, while still rejecting mismatched identifiers. (#7779) Thanks @taljeon.
🗂️ Workspace & settings
- 🎯 Find your current model immediately. Reopening the model picker brings your current model into view, including its company in the two-level OpenDesign model list. (#7917) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 📣 Announcement buttons describe where they lead. What’s New supports localized button labels that match the announcement’s destination. (#7943)
- 🔗 Reference projects from the workspace you are using. Project references list the active workspace's projects and refresh when you switch workspaces. (#7701)
- 🤖 See which model a local CLI actually used. Connection tests show the resolved model behind a rolling alias, making the result easier to check. (#6386) Thanks @MumuTW.
- 🇫🇷 More consistent French guidance. Settings and recovery messages, along with core documentation, use updated French wording. (#7753, #7754) Thanks @davezfr.
- 🌍 Social-link hints follow your language. Navigation tooltips are localized and support right-to-left layouts. (#7665)

🔥 Highlights
- 🧭 Runs that keep their evidence. Files, covers, references, produced output, steering, and recovery now travel with a conversation instead of disappearing into a vague finished state. (#7518) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🛟 Failures that explain what to do next. ACP, model, permission, quota, and runtime problems preserve the useful cause, so a failed run is a decision point—not a dead end. (#6267, #7316, #7429, #7458, #7534, #7647) Thanks @helsome, @Siri-Ray.
- 🎬 Media work that survives the real world. Image and video tasks recover more reliably in packaged Open Design, and Team projects keep their own billing context while they do. (#7504, #7723, #7746) Thanks @alchemistklk, @lbjzz-hash.
- 🪟 The desktop app feels installed, not fragile. First-launch controls, macOS Home readiness, update placement, and app-link handoff now hold up where people actually use the product: the shipped app. (#7479, #7482, #7535, #7688, #7700) Thanks @lefarcen, @Siri-Ray, @alchemistklk.
- 🧩 Previews keep their place. HTML-rich designs, Deck covers, old thumbnail navigation, and edit handoffs retain the structure and state you were working with. (#7421, #7422, #7556, #7558, #7568, #7592, #7651) Thanks @lefarcen, @Siri-Ray.

🧠 Agents, runtimes & sandbox
- 🧰 Codex sessions have a steadier home. Open Design can carry a Codex app-server conversation through streaming replies and tool work without making the result feel like a black box. (#7518) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🧪 Labs keeps experimentation understandable. Design Harness has a clear settings home, persists its choice, and explains when a policy owns the decision. (#7445, #7514) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🖼️ Real subjects get real imagery. Ask for a named person, product, artwork, event, or place and Open Design reaches for the real thing instead of a convincing impostor. (#7436)
- 🧑💻 Standalone Terminal work has a real lifecycle. Start, finish, cancel, and return without leaving a ghost session behind. (#7716, #7742) Thanks @PerishCode.
🔑 Models & media
- 🤖 More honest model choices. New model IDs are discoverable, retired models explain themselves, and AMR no longer promises unlimited access where limits apply. (#7401, #7544, #7627, #7686) Thanks @koeseo, @Siri-Ray, @lefarcen.
- 🔗 Team projects remain visible after a bad sync. A transient sync failure no longer hides work your team has already published. (#7781, #7785)
🐛 Fixed
🎨 Studio, editing & canvas
- 🗂️ Open the project you meant to open. Project entry no longer invents facts it cannot know, and artifact-upgrade prompts stay with the active project. (#7428, #7689, #7696) Thanks @lefarcen, @Siri-Ray.
- 💬 A visible question can be answered. Clarification forms keep the run alive long enough to receive the answer—and receive it once. (#7509, #7512)
🖥️ Desktop & setup
- ✅ Onboarding checks the engine before asking you to continue. Invalid runtime setup is caught early, with a path forward instead of a later mystery failure. (#7440, #7743)
- 🌐 The app link returns to the app. Packaged Open Design keeps its normal sign-in and invite handoff while development builds stop claiming the system link. (#7479) Thanks @lefarcen.
🌍 Interface & language
- 📣 The right sunset notice speaks the right language. Go Plan messaging now reaches its intended audience with the selected locale intact. (#7453, #7477) Thanks @nettee.

Creation and experiments
- 🧪 Design Harness is now one switch away. Open Design Labs has a home in
Settings, where you can opt into the latest generation strategy without
installing another build or reaching for a terminal. The switch explains what
it covers, saves across restarts and tells you when another policy owns the
choice. (#7445)
- 🖼️ Real subjects get real imagery. When a prototype names a person,
product, artwork, event or place, Open Design now searches for and uses the
actual referent instead of inventing a look-alike. Images keep their natural
proportions and full frame instead of being forced into a leftover
placeholder crop. (#7436)
- 📱 OD Next understands the bones of a mobile interface. Calendars, stats,
settings rows, top bars, bottom navigation, images and confirmation dialogs
now receive purpose-built structure, so generated phone prototypes read
clearly without flattening every pattern into the same generic row. (#7327)
Team collaboration
- 🧭 Large Team workspaces can put a ceiling on background catch-up. An
opt-in cumulative budget keeps background materialization from growing without
bound while leaving foreground project opens immediate and unaffected.
(#7403) Thanks @lefarcen.
⚡ Performance & reliability
- ⚡ Team projects open from a warm path. Repeated project-list and deep-link
reads reuse a short-lived, workspace-safe cache; shares, unshares and workspace
changes invalidate it immediately. (#7398) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🚀 Home starts with less competition for the screen. Duplicate catalog
reads are collapsed, and the hidden Automations area waits until you actually
open it before fetching its data. (#7408, #7413) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🧹 Stopping a run now means the whole run has stopped. Cancel, timeout,
failure, retry and app shutdown clean up the complete Agent process tree before
declaring the attempt finished, preventing abandoned children from continuing
to consume resources. (#7432) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
🐛 Fixed
Agents, models and setup
- ☁️ Cloud sign-out no longer closes the door on local work. Local Agent and
BYOK stay selectable while signed out or while Cloud is unavailable, and
signing out preserves provider keys, base URLs, model choices and media
defaults stored on this installation. (#7381, #7437) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- 🧭 Run errors now point to the action that can actually help. An
incompatible Agent handshake asks you to change Agent versions instead of
retrying; membership concurrency limits show their reset guidance; and an AMR
model rejection stops before a second, misleading prompt failure can replace
the real cause. (#7303, #7429, #7458) Thanks @lefarcen, @Siri-Ray |
| 0.21.0 | 25 d’agost del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: Reliable, Start to Finish
🛡️ 42 PRs · 13 contributors · 4 days — From Agent connections to live
HTML previews and app relaunches, Open Design 0.21.0 makes the entire creation
experience more reliable—and easier to recover when something goes wrong. 🚀
🔥 Highlights
- 🖼️ HTML previews stay visible, live and correctly wired. Multi-file
artifacts keep their scripts, styles, images, modules and relative requests;
switching projects, files or Code/Preview no longer sends Electron through the
navigation races that could leave a complete document painted as a white
frame. Presentation mode also gains a dependable way out, and clicking the
preview dismisses its viewport menu like clicking anywhere else. (#7336,
#7358) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🧰 A working agent no longer disappears behind a broken shim. OpenDesign
keeps searching when an earlier executable on PATH is stale, leaves a real
diagnostic and repair action when nothing can launch, and supports the
DeepSeek Harness release line users actually receive. The one-line installer
finishes instead of getting trapped in dependency resolution. (#7153, #7339)
Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🌙 Kimi works again on 0.37 and newer. Those releases stopped accepting the
stdio MCP transport that OpenDesign attached to every session, turning nearly
every run into an opaque handshake error. OpenDesign now sends only the
transports each Kimi build accepts, so a message produces a streamed reply
again instead of failing before the work begins. (#7313) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🚪 Relaunching the app recovers from a stale local engine. A web sidecar
left behind by a crash could hold the app's socket and make every later launch
quit at startup. OpenDesign now reclaims that stale owner safely, and its
daemon and web processes shut down with the desktop app instead of haunting
the next launch. (#7279) Thanks @mrcfps.
- 🤖 Coding Plan model access follows the account you are actually signed
into. The model picker and unlimited-use badges now read the authenticated
entitlement list instead of relying on a hard-coded tier snapshot. DeepSeek V4
Flash Vision Exp also joins the unlimited lineup across paid Personal plans,
with clearer activation guidance when an older client has not picked up the
entitlement yet. (#7289, #7250) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- 🧠 AI Optimize runs once, even when the click happens twice. Two entry
points could start the same hidden design-system refinement within
milliseconds, charging twice and racing to rewrite the same files. The client
now stops the duplicate before it leaves, and the daemon enforces the same
single-run boundary across tabs and external clients. (#7271) Thanks
@lefarcen.
- 💳 Pricing actions now tell the truth before checkout does. Current
interval, pending changes, cancellation state, unavailable moves and Team
billing all appear where the decision is made. Go is clearly sold out, its old
in-app campaign is gone, and the remaining DeepSeek campaign gives paid and
unpaid users one consistent path instead of competing promotions. (#7228,
#7239, #7240, #7352, #7361) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- 🌐 Website Clone leaves its prompt behind when you leave the tab. The
localized “clone this site” scaffold no longer follows you into Slide Deck,
Image, Document, HyperFrames, Video or Audio. Add your own URL and the draft is
still yours; leave the guide untouched and the next creation mode starts
clean. (#7344) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🔌 Long-running MCP sessions can stay alive as long as the work requires.
The familiar 30-minute idle behavior remains the default, while
OD_MCP_STDIO_IDLE_EXIT_MS can choose a longer boundary — up to 24 hours — or
disable idle exit for clients that deliberately keep a session quiet between
calls. (#7288) Thanks @huytdps13400.
✨ Added
🧠 Agents, runtimes and automation
- OD_MCP_STDIO_IDLE_EXIT_MS configures the stdio MCP idle lifetime; 0 keeps
the process alive until the client disconnects. (#7288) Thanks @huytdps13400.
🔑 Models, plans and media
- Coding Plan model |
| 0.20.2 | 21 d’agost del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió⚡ Production exports now finish in under a minute: when a font or an image in
your work never comes back, Open Design no longer holds the whole pipeline for
ten minutes — it stops waiting and delivers the image or PDF anyway. An HTML
preview you already opened keeps its state, and first-run setup only lets you
continue once it really connects. Alongside that, the pricing, entitlement
badges and upgrade paths that shipped with Go Plan got a careful calibration
pass, so what plan you're on, where you can go from it, and where a click will
take you all read honestly.
⚡ Performance & reliability
- 📤 A stuck export now takes under a minute instead of ten. When a font or
an image in your work never loads, Open Design stops waiting on it and
finishes the image or PDF anyway. Work that loads normally still exports at
full quality, and a genuine failure now names its reason so you can act on it.
(#7182) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🖥️ Come back to an open HTML preview and it's still where you left it.
Switching projects, switching file tabs and toggling Preview/Code no longer
trigger a blank flash or a full reload — scroll position, live documents and
your edits survive, and text changes show up the moment you save. (#7156)
Thanks @lefarcen.
- ✅ A run that produced files is no longer reported as producing nothing.
When the browser doesn't finish syncing files in time, Open Design trusts what
the daemon confirmed was delivered. Runs that genuinely produced nothing still
show the original error. (#5750) Thanks @ferrarifankid04.
- 🧩 Interactive scripts in a project preview survive URL rewriting. Inline
scripts are delivered untouched while CSS and other assets stay
workspace-scoped, so script-driven interactive previews actually run. (#6938)
Thanks @mturac.
🐛 Fixed
First-run setup
- 🚦 "Continue" now means you are actually ready to continue. Picking a local
CLI during first-run setup keeps the button inert until the CLI is detected.
With BYOK, filling in the key, base URL and model runs a real connection test
on click — a failure or a rate limit keeps you on the page with an actionable
error, and setup only completes once the test passes. (#7164)
Thanks @alchemistklk.
Pricing, plans & upgrades
- 🌐 The language you enter Pricing in is the language you stay in. The
locale the app hands over now applies before the page paints, instead of
flashing the wrong one first. Direct visits without an explicit locale still
follow your browser and saved preference. (#7197) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- ↩️ Checkout returns you to the Cloud Console you came from. Pricing
handoffs from test, feature-validation and local environments come back to
their own entry point instead of landing in production. An invalid target
shows a localized error and disables checkout rather than silently falling
back. (#7219) Thanks @nettee.
- ⬆️ Your current plan, and where you can go from it, read at a glance. The
plan you're on is marked Current plan, anything below it is no longer
clickable, and higher tiers keep their upgrade entry. Savings amounts, model
order, the status column, the recommended accent and the monthly/annual toggle
all match the approved design. (#7191, #7222) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- ♾️ "Unlimited" only appears on models your plan actually includes. Go,
Plus, Pro and Max badge according to their own entitlements; Team workspaces
no longer inherit a personal plan's badge, and BYOK no longer claims
platform-side unlimited use. A subscriber whose balance is exactly zero stops
seeing a balance chip they can't act on, while overdrafts, free plans and Team
still surface the balance that needs attention. (#7190, #7202, #7196)
Thanks @lefarcen, @Siri-Ray.
- The low-balance dialog's action buttons return to a consistent visual
hierarchy. (#7138)
Interface & navigation
- ⬇️ The update button stops crowding the account capsule. Once a new version
finishes downloading, the green update button appears as its own control to
the right of the avatar/balance capsule, so the account menu |
| 0.20.1 | 20 d’agost del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: Meet Go Plan: Unlimited Access to Three Powerful Models
🟢 28 PRs · 10 contributors · 2 days — Create without worrying about usage limits. Go Plan gives you unlimited access to DeepSeek V4, DeepSeek Pro, and GLM 5.2—so you can explore, create, and iterate as much as you want.
🔥 Highlights
- 🟢 Go is here — a plan you can actually start on. The new entry tier ships
end to end: a Go column on the pricing page, a launch banner on the homepage,
and in-app upgrade entries that take you straight to Pricing instead of a
dead-end dialog. Plan names, order and copy now read the same in the app and on
the site. (#7121, #7122, #7167)
- 🔋 A zero balance no longer locks you out of the models you pay for. If
your plan includes unlimited use of a model, the picker keeps offering it even
when your wallet reads 0 — the balance and the entitlement are two different
things, and only one of them should gate the model list. (#7187)
- 🖼️ When an image doesn't come back, you find out why. Generation failures
used to collapse into one generic message. Now the real reason comes through —
a safety refusal, a provider error, a bad prompt — so you know whether to
retry, rephrase, or switch models. (#7118)
- 💬 The first thing you ask for on Home streams all the way through. Starting
a run from Home could leave the output frozen partway while the work continued
in the background. The first run now stays live from the first token to the
last. (#7071)
- ⏱️ "How long did that take" finally means what it says. Run timing is now
anchored to the moment the model actually starts responding, so queueing and
startup no longer inflate generation time in your history. (#7155)
- 🧩 Handoff to OpenCode. A new community plugin hands the current piece of
work over to OpenCode, so a task started in Open Design can continue in the
agent you prefer. (#6948) Thanks @ross-sec.
- 🏷️ One name, everywhere: OpenDesign. The product name, navigation and CTAs
now read consistently across the app and the site, instead of drifting between
two spellings. (#6983, #6998) Thanks @joeylee12629-star.
- ⚡ Opening your conversation list stops doing unnecessary work. The list no
longer materializes full event logs just to draw itself, which shows up
directly as a faster panel on projects with long histories. (#6978)
Thanks @jiulongche.
🩹 Fixed
- The About panel's update row keeps its spacing, and the project frame no longer
flashes twice when a project opens. (#7174)
- Deploy failures return specific error codes instead of one opaque 400, so a
failed deploy says what went wrong. (#5897)
- Removing a skill clears it from the @ mention picker instead of leaving a
stale entry behind. (#6920) Thanks @T-sanjay-ram.
- Reattaching to a running conversation coalesces replay events instead of
replaying them one by one. (#6926) Thanks @roian6.
- Agent runtimes start on Windows machines whose PATHEXT is malformed. (#6937)
Thanks @github-lover-9999.
- od media wait and od media generate flush their output before exiting, so
piped and scripted usage no longer loses the last lines. (#6800)
Thanks @lorenzozanee.
- The artifact upsell only appears for Cloud models, not for models you already
brought yourself. (#6995)
- Preview font stylesheets load without blocking the preview itself. (#7134)
- The DeepSeek Harness bootstrap version is derived from the installer bytes, so
the reported version matches what actually installed. (#7107)
🌐 Website
- An image generation showcase on the landing page. (#6904)
- A DeepSeek Harness GUI guide that answers the search intent directly, with the
steps 2–5 walkthrough split out. (#7073) Thanks @joeylee12629-star.
- DeepSeek curated plugin detail routes work again. (#6976) Thanks @roian6.

| 0.20.0 | 19 d’agost del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) |
| 0.19.2 | 14 d’agost del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: DeepSeek Harness, One Command Away
🧰 28 PRs · 9 contributors · 2 days — 0.19.2 shortens the path from
installing DeepSeek Harness to finishing work with it. One command can set up
a compatible Harness toolchain, Windows paths with spaces no longer break the
Open Design connection, and long streams stay responsive. This patch also adds
offline-safe HTML export and the structured Design System 3.0 runtime.
🔥 Highlights
- 🧰 Install DeepSeek Harness with one command. The new bootstrap scripts
cover macOS, Linux, Windows PowerShell, and Windows CMD. They reuse compatible
local tools or install an isolated user-scoped Node.js 24 toolchain with the
pinned Harness release, then open dsh web for API key setup. Open Design now
installs its connection component through a shell-safe profile path, including
Windows application and DSH_HOME paths that contain spaces. (#6900, #6905)
- 📦 Export HTML that keeps working after you move it. Downloaded HTML now
bundles project-local images, styles, fonts, modules, workers, and nested
documents into one offline-safe file. Missing or oversized dependencies return
a clear error instead of a broken export. The same output is available through
od export --format html. (#6855)
- ⚡ Long agent runs stay responsive. Thinking and text still stream into
chat while Open Design batches persistence and React updates behind the scenes.
Terminal transitions flush the last buffered output. od export also works
with a project ID alone, so agents no longer need workspace or member flags
for a project that already has a saved workspace binding. (#6915)
- 🎨 Structured design systems now drive generation and validation. Design
System 3.0 packages give agents an intent map, exact component implementations,
tokens, and rules. Agents can resolve a component before generating, load only
its declared files, then validate reuse, required states, token use, and
fallback behavior. The same workflow is available through
od tools design-systems. (#6805)
✨ Added
- The DeepSeek Harness design guide now has a companion collection of 13 verified
design plugins, grouped by vision, generative UI, workflow, and preview use
cases, with localized detail pages and source-backed install commands.
(#6864, #6897)
- Packaged apps now search standard nix-darwin, NixOS, system, and user profile
directories when discovering locally installed agent CLIs. (#6885)
🔁 Changed
- The Home creation row puts the most common project types first, and the
DeepSeek Pro and Flash campaign copy stays aligned across the product and
localized landing pages through August 27. (#6852, #6863, #6876, #6892)
- Landing-page production deploys now purge the active host after publishing and
keep a short edge TTL for HTML, reducing the time visitors spend on stale
pages after a release. (#6552)
🐛 Fixed
🧠 DeepSeek Harness and agents
- Canceling a Harness run now settles once as canceled, terminates the profile
process, preserves provider error details, and records the correct provider and
model in diagnostics. Canceled turns no longer appear as Working, Done, or Run
failed. (#6880)
- Missing DeepSeek credentials now produce steps for dsh web, Settings →
Models, and DEEPSEEK_API_KEY instead of [object Object]. (#6890)
- Long structured event streams no longer leave chat busy after useful output has
appeared, and project exports avoid repeated workspace-context failures.
(#6915)
🖼️ Preview and workspace UI
- Generated presentations recover when Chromium aborts an about:srcdoc
navigation, powered previews work behind reverse proxies, and comment bridges
wait for the committed preview URL before reporting ready. (#5592, #6797,
#6882)
- Mobile comment previews no longer flash during close, deck previews fill the
viewer without letterboxing, and the move-to-team dialog covers the composer
beneath it. (#6785, #6829, #6854)
- Expanded Message Center rows show their configured HTTP(S) action again.
Unsafe action URLs remain hidden. (#6894)
🖥️ Desktop and del |
| 0.19.1 | 14 d’agost del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: Design with DeepSeek Harness
🧰 59 PRs · 24 contributors · 4 days — DeepSeek Harness now runs as an
agent inside Open Design. Open Design finds your official dsh, guides setup
of the Open Design connection profile, lists Harness models and
reasoning options, and resumes the same Harness session on later turns. 0.19.1
also starts two weeks of unlimited DeepSeek V4 Pro and Flash for paid plans and
keeps Home and team projects responsive under load.
🔥 Highlights
- 🧰 Bring your official DeepSeek Harness installation into Open Design.
Open Design discovers dsh, reads its model and reasoning choices, and gives
specific guidance for missing credentials, profile setup, or an untested
Harness version. Settings and od agent setup deepseek-harness can install or
repair only the Open Design connection profile; Open Design does not replace
or upgrade Harness itself. Runs stream thinking, text, tool calls, results,
and usage as structured events, then resume the same Harness session on later
turns. Cancellation and process cleanup also cover Windows .cmd installs.
(#6874)
- 🎁 Paid plans get two weeks of unlimited DeepSeek V4 Pro and Flash.
From August 13 at 20:00 to August 27 at 20:00 (Asia/Shanghai), both models
carry the Unlimited badge across the workbench, and the campaign action picks
V4 Pro. Users who dismissed the previous Flash campaign still see this one
once. When a rolling model window fills up, Open Design shows the retry time
and confirms that the request was not charged. (#6861)
- 🏠 Home gets you into a project sooner. The refreshed Home adds a
clearer creation-type row and more direct workspace controls. Local projects
no longer wait for a Cloud workspace identity before they can start, while
Cloud projects keep their balance checks. After you submit, Open Design moves
straight into the new project's Preparing state and rolls back cleanly if
creation fails. (#6692, #6741, #6756)
- 🔐 An expired Cloud session returns you to sign-in. Invalid
credentials are cleared, the existing sign-in flow takes over, and transient
workspace-authority failures retry without duplicating the request. Headless
operators also gain od amr status and od amr logout for checking and
resetting Cloud authentication from the CLI. (#6786)
- ⚡ Team workspaces keep background work within bounds. Shared-resource
pulls are batched, sync fan-out is capped, workspace-authority reads are
cached safely, and large project scans, archives, and push queues have firm
limits. Workspace and billing refreshes now coalesce under event bursts and
back off during an outage instead of multiplying upstream requests.
(#6711, #6752, #6782, #6788, #6871)
✨ Added
- The design-system catalog now includes Cloudflare Kumo UI, ready to use
as a visual foundation for generated interfaces. (#6769)
- od mcp install claude-desktop can configure Open Design for Claude Desktop
on macOS and Windows. (#6489)
- The public Pricing page now describes hosted image generation alongside text
models. (#6395)
- Launch Week is easier to discover from the landing page, and community links
are labeled before they take you away from Open Design. (#6680, #6684)
🔁 Changed
- New image and video outputs open in the preview when generation finishes.
When an agent names an existing artifact, the write updates that file in
place instead of creating a numbered duplicate. (#6688, #6719)
- Message Center rows expand and collapse in place. Saving an annotation also
leaves the comments panel in the state you chose instead of forcing it open.
(#6851, #6862)
- Home search includes personal projects, and projects created from Community
templates retain the template's original project type. (#6838, #6847)
- MCP slash commands explain what they do, and newly created custom skills load
their files without requiring a refresh. (#6597, #6735)
- Campaign and upgrade prompts are limited to the AMR paths where they apply,
instead of appearing in unrelated local workflows. (#6760, #6841)

| 0.18.1 | 7 d’agost del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🎁 24 PRs · 9 contributors · 2 days — DeepSeek V4 Flash is unlimited for one week, and 0.18.1 puts it where you actually work. August 6 20:00 → August 13 20:00 (Asia/Shanghai): every paid plan gets unlimited DeepSeek V4 Flash on Open Design Cloud — it doesn't eat your plan's quota, doesn't carry over, and there's nothing to claim. 0.18.1 also cleans up the first week of Team Workspace on production: the 502 storm, the file grid that crawled, the BYOK picker that forgot your models. 🚀
🔥 Highlights
- 🎁 DeepSeek V4 Flash — unlimited, August 6–13. A fast model you have to spend quota on carefully is the one you reach for least. For one week, every paid plan gets DeepSeek V4 Flash unlimited on Open Design Cloud — and 0.18.1 brings the offer into the app instead of leaving it on the pricing page: the home screen tells you it's live, the model picker carries an Unlimited badge, and one click switches you over. It runs on top of your plan, not out of it — your normal quota is untouched, and on August 13 at 20:00 everything returns to standard rules. (#6507)
- ☁️ A cloud blip stops taking the workspace down with it. The packaged app could get stuck in a 502 loop — a failing presence call retried on a tight heartbeat until the whole workspace felt broken. 0.18.1 backs the heartbeat off, relays what the server actually said instead of a generic failure, and replays proxied requests that deserve a second chance. A cloud outage now looks like a bad minute, not a broken install. (#6521)
- ⚡ Design files that open at speed. Projects with a lot of files made the grid render everything at once and fetch every thumbnail up front. Now the grid renders what you can see and fetches thumbnails as you scroll — big projects open in a fraction of the time. (#6513)
- 🔑 Your own models, back in the picker. BYOK models had gone missing from the home and composer pickers — you'd configured a provider and still couldn't switch to it. Fixed: your provider's model catalogue is selectable again from both places — and providers that don't offer one, like Azure's free-form deployment names, still show the current model as a readout instead of an empty panel. (#6515)
- 🚀 A shorter first run. Choosing where your models come from used to be a detour before your first prompt. The onboarding model-source step is now a single, streamlined choice. (#6475) Thanks @Siri-Ray.

- Signing in hands you back to the app. Approve a sign-in in your browser and the desktop app comes back to the front on its own — including when it was minimized, which previously left it sitting in the Dock looking like nothing happened. (#6410) Thanks @elifive555555.
- Export what a run actually did. When a run goes sideways, you can now export its execution diagnostics instead of describing the symptom from memory. (#6433) Thanks @bone3deep1962-collab.
🐛 Fixed
🏠 Workspace & projects
- Projects no longer open into the wrong scope. When workspace bootstrap arrived late, a project could settle against the wrong workspace and stay stuck loading — leaving the whole workspace read-only until you refreshed. It now waits for the answer. (#6504)
- The campaign badge sits above the workspace tabs, not behind them, and free personal accounts see the prompt written for them instead of the paid-user wording. (#6507)
🔌 Integrations & plugins
- Briefs stop bleeding between publications. Confirmed brief context is cleared after publication, so the next brief starts clean. (#6442) Thanks @itscheems.
- The Codex plugin page installs what it says it installs. Corrected the plugin page and simplified the install entry point. (#6393, #6474) Thanks @xne998808-ai, @joeylee12 |
| 0.18.0 | 5 d’agost del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: Design Team Workspace. Now in Codex.
🤝 115 PRs · 22 contributors · 2 days — Open Design 0.18.0 introduces Team Workspace—a shared home where design teams can share projects, review updates, comment in context, and reuse the same design systems, plugins, and skills. With the new Open Design plugin for Codex, that collaborative workspace now extends directly into Codex. 🚀
🔥 Highlights
- 🤝 Team workspaces — your team gets a home. Collaboration used to mean leaving Open Design: export the file, paste the screenshot, chase the latest copy. Now a Team workspace lives right next to your personal one. Create it, switch into it, and invite colleagues with a role through a seat-aware invite flow — everyone lands in the same place, signed in through one Open Design Cloud account. (#6142, #6459)
- 🚀 Open Design for Codex — in case you missed 0.17.0. The last release lived for exactly two days, so its headline rides again: Codex Desktop and CLI can call Open Design as a complete creative engine. Confirm a visual brief, choose Open Design Cloud or a supported local runtime, and receive a real Preview or Studio result. The signed Open Design runtime starts headlessly when needed, so there is no second app to keep open and no stack to wire together by hand. Upgrading from 0.16.x? This one is new to you too. (#6055, #6273, #6362 — shipped in 0.17.0)
- 🔌 And Codex doesn't lose Open Design anymore. External MCP hosts — Codex and friends — used to go dark if Open Design's local service came back on a different port after a restart. The connection now finds its way home on its own, so @open-design keeps working across restarts without re-setup. (#6391)
- 📁 Shared projects that stay current on their own. Move a project into the team space and every member gets a live read-only mirror: content auto-pulls as the owner works, presence avatars show who's looking, transfer progress is visible, and comments flow both ways — including from viewers in read-only mode. Nobody re-sends anything, and "is this the latest?" stops being a question. (#5281, #5283, #5395, #6294)
- 🧰 Share the toolkit, not just the files. Design systems, plugins, and skills can now be shared to the team, so the house style and the house tricks travel together — a teammate picks up the same brand kit and the same workflows without a setup call. (#5242, #5250, #5551) Thanks @PerishCode.
- 💳 Billing that follows the workspace. Balances, top-ups, and run charges are attributed to the active workspace instead of your personal account — team work bills the team, personal work stays personal, and the plan nameplate always tells you which pocket you're spending from. (#6067, #6182, #6219)
- 🎨 A home worth coming home to. The workspace redesign lands across the home hero, rail, tabs, and template/plugin detail surfaces — joined by a message center, a What's-new panel fed by real release data, and a quieter, restyled update reminder. (#6156, #6162, #6281) Thanks @wangchenglong0001.
- 🏁 Agents finish what they start. Sessions that stalled right after a tool call now pick themselves back up, Kiro runs complete their turns cleanly instead of hanging at the finish line, and when an AMR run genuinely stalls, the app can finally tell you why instead of shrugging. (#6237, #6268, #6040) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- 🙋 A required question is no longer a locked door. When the agent asks something you can't or don't want to answer, skip it and keep moving — the agent works with what it has instead of holding your run hostage. (#6177)
- 🕵️ Clone Audit — know a clone is safe before you ship it. The new community plugin inspects a cloned site the way a reviewer would: visual fidelity, leftover tracking scripts, source-brand and language residue, placeholders, and risky external dependencies — then hands you an evidence-based report with file-and-line receipts and a clear deployment verdict. (#5687) Thanks @bestthanapon.

| 0.17.0 | 3 d’agost del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versióOpen Design 0.17.0 — Open Design Plugin for Codex
🚀 62 PRs · 23 contributors · 11 days — Codex now has its own design workspace. Call @open-design from a Codex conversation to turn ideas and briefs into real, editable design artifacts—then keep creating and refining them in Open Design Studio without leaving the Codex workflow. 🚀
🔥 Highlights
- 🚀 Open Design for Codex—from @open-design to a real artifact. Codex Desktop and CLI can now call Open Design as a complete creative engine. Confirm a visual brief, choose Open Design Cloud or a supported local runtime, and receive a real Preview or Studio result. The signed Open Design runtime starts headlessly when needed, so there is no second app to keep open and no stack to wire together by hand. If Studio cannot load cleanly in an external host, Codex still delivers the stable preview immediately. (#6055, #6273, #6362)
- ✋ Finish with your hands, not another prompt. Small visual corrections used to send you back into the chat loop. Now select an element directly, move or resize it, edit text, change color and alignment, duplicate or delete it, and replace, crop, paste, or drop images. Undo and redo preserve the canvas instead of flashing through a reload. (#5890, #6098) Thanks @pftom.
- ⚡ Clear briefs start immediately. Open Design no longer turns every first prompt into an interview. When the request already contains enough direction, the agent gets to work; when a decision would materially change the result, it asks one focused question at the moment it matters. (#6223)
- 🧰 A stuck update is no longer a dead end. Clear a broken update cache yourself from Settings, reinstall when an installed generation is known to be unsafe, and recover automatically when a downloaded payload crashes. The app rolls back to the last working version and heals on the next healthy update. (#6032, #6101) Thanks @PerishCode.
- 🎯 Bad model choices fail before they waste a run. Known-incompatible Codex model and CLI combinations are caught before launch, unsupported models produce a useful “switch model” path, and post-tool timeouts are diagnosed more accurately instead of triggering misleading retries. (#6036, #6103) Thanks @Siri-Ray.
- 🧩 Fifty ways to give Codex real design taste. The public Codex Design collection now brings together 50 curated, installable skills across interface design, visual systems, Figma-to-code, motion, image generation, and frontend craft—with provenance, practical guidance, and localized detail pages. (#5978) Thanks @joeylee12629-star.
- 🎞️ Codex Slides joins the Open Design family. Explore the complete prompt-to-deck workflow, scenario and style selection, outline shaping, editing, and export through the new Codex Slides product experience. (#6050) Thanks @joeylee12629-star.

🎨 Studio, editing & canvas
- Edit the canvas at the speed of thought. Lightweight selection controls, an inline text toolbar, live alignment guides, direct image manipulation, and reliable history turn Manual Edit into a complete finishing workflow. (#5890) Thanks @pftom.
- Exports now follow the preview you composed. Image exports respect the active preview viewport, and framework decks are captured at their authored size instead of being reshaped by the desktop frame. (#5828, #5853) Thanks @mturac.
🧠 Agents, models & integrations
- GPT-5.5 Fast is ready when speed matters. The new service tier is available as an explicit model choice. (#4287) Thanks @jaehanbyun.
- Raven joins one-click MCP setup. Open Design can generate the correct Raven configuration without making users translate another client's format. (#5969) Thanks @roian6.
- Grok Build is easier to find on Windows. Open Design now discovers the official user installation automatically. (#5843) Thanks @thebtf.

0.16.1 is a focused patch release for the design preview.
🐛 Fixed
- Run status no longer covers generated work. Building, completion, and delivery-recovery status stays in Chat instead of appearing over the preview canvas. Chat remains the place to follow progress or retry a failed delivery. (#6005, #6027) |
| 0.16.0 | 22 de juliol del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versióOpen Design 0.16.0 — Reliable Delivery
🎨 92 PRs · 20 contributors · 5 days — A more reliable path from creation to delivery. Open Design 0.16.0 strengthens automatic updates, long-running tasks, model setup, image generation, previews, and exports—so interruptions are less likely to get between you and your latest work.
🔥 Highlights
- 🎨 Visual direction now follows the thing you are actually making. Style choices are no longer limited to decks and prototypes. Documents, posters and other images, videos, Web Clones, wireframes, mobile work, and Hyperframes each get previews suited to their format—with four quick choices inline and the full library one click away. (#5746)
- 🔔 Product news now has a home inside Open Design. A new bell in the Home and project headers opens a message center with unread counts, filters, mark-all-read, and links to relevant content. Read state stays on the device for anonymous use or follows a signed-in account. Dates use your locale, and the close button is always easy to find. (#5920, #5954, #5959, #5968) Thanks @nettee.
- 🔄 Automatic updates now cover more of the app. After upgrading, the new version takes effect more reliably and features affected by an incomplete update—including PPTX export—work again. On macOS, “Check for Updates…” now clearly shows whether the app is current, downloading, ready to restart, waiting for active work to finish, or needs a manual download. Update reliability also improves on Windows. (#5789, #5766, #5678, #5915, #5940, #5955, #5967) Thanks @PerishCode.
- 🔑 BYOK catches setup problems before they interrupt a task. Incomplete edits stay as recoverable drafts instead of replacing a working configuration. Connection tests now behave more like real tasks, show service errors more clearly, preserve each provider’s model ordering, and handle compatible MiniMax, DeepSeek, and MiMo addresses more consistently. (#5745, #5712, #5713, #5774, #5807) Thanks @Siri-Ray, @mturac.
- 🧠 Long tasks keep their answer—and the files that came with it. Work approaching a conversation limit can continue with the newest useful context instead of failing abruptly. Earlier generated files stay attached, recovered helper agents no longer turn successful work into a failure, interrupted tasks show an accurate state after restart, and unrecoverable errors stop with a useful explanation. (#5816, #5850, #5845, #5817, #5882) Thanks @Siri-Ray, @tomsen02.
- 🖼️ Image generation is more resilient to brief service interruptions. Nano Banana and custom image generation retry once when a provider is temporarily busy, while GPT Image reference edits work across more compatible services. A short interruption becomes a brief wait instead of a lost creative turn. (#5702, #5760) Thanks @Siri-Ray, @xxiaoxiong.
- 🧩 Start from what people actually use. Slides, image, video, and other non-prototype galleries now lead with templates that have earned real usage, while blank entries and cards without previews stop crowding the top. Prototype keeps its editorial showcase, and every category keeps its full catalog. (#5106, #5881) Thanks @ScarletttMoon.
- 🧬 Design systems import more faithfully from real repositories. Repository imports now choose the right flow, split token packages keep their layout values, and common YAML list and multiline formats preserve the metadata their authors wrote. (#5779, #5797, #5499) Thanks @mturac, @MuduiClaw, @EthanGuo-coder.
- 🪟 Previews spend less time making you fight the frame. Wide desktop pages fit the pane until you choose your own zoom, older decks respond to navigation keys immediately, and the latest main HTML file appears as soon as a task finishes. When an asset is blocked for safety, the preview identifies the relevant project file without exposing a sensitive system path. (#5751, #5755, #5577, #5784) Thanks @lefarcen, @maxmilian, @mturac.
- 🛡️ Local work now has stronger safety boundaries. Imported projects keep hidden credentials private, removing a plugin sta |
| 0.15.1 | 17 de juliol del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versióOpen Design 0.15.1 — Sharper Vision, Longer Flow
Open Design 0.15.1 brings a comprehensive upgrade to the built-in OpenDesign Agent. Multimodal models can read finer image details, while leaner context handling helps responses stay faster and more focused on the work that matters.
⚡ Core runtime upgrade
- Images arrive with more of their detail intact. The newer OpenDesign Agent improves how multimodal models receive and understand image content, making screenshot analysis, visual critique, and image-led design tasks more dependable.
- Longer agent sessions stay coherent and recover more gracefully. The OpenDesign Agent upgrade improves session replay, stream and context-overflow recovery, and preservation of useful context through compaction—so extended work is less likely to lose its place or end prematurely.
✨ Added
🎨 Studio and discovery
- Clarifying questions now stay inside the conversation. Deck and prototype direction questions use visual choices you can compare, refresh, and expand without leaving the chat; submitted answers—including multi-select responses—collapse into a readable brief. (#5496, #5757)
- Home makes the collaboration model explicit. The new headline invites you to design with your agent, with matching copy across supported languages. (#5699)
🧠 Agents, models, and search
- More ways to bring the right model and research into a project. Open Design adds AtomCode as an agent runtime, a SiliconFlow Global BYOK preset, and parallel web search for AMR. (#5654, #5108, #5552)
🔁 Changed
⚡ Faster, cleaner conversations
- Multi-turn work reuses more of what it already knows. Intent signals now follow what you actually said instead of text offered by a discovery form, reducing unnecessary stable-prompt resends on resume-capable agents. (#5709)
- Memory starts cleaner and stays under your control. “Learn from chats” now defaults off, while existing memories, work-profile details, manual entries, and connector imports remain available. Upgrading also removes known auto-extraction artifacts without touching legitimate memories. (#5708)
- Updates are easier to understand. Silent-update settings, status copy, and update-ready prompts now make it clearer when a new version is available and what happens next. (#5608, #5609, #5631)

🖼 HTML, previews, and delivery
- Successful analysis no longer looks like a failed design task. When you ask Open Design to inspect, critique, or explain existing work, a useful text answer completes normally instead of showing an ARTIFACT_NOT_FOUND failure. Runs that attempted but failed to deliver files still surface the real error. (#5724)
- HTML work reaches the screen more reliably. Plan-mode HTML opens automatically after generation, in-place edits keep their delivery history, large previews refresh with the full source when needed, redirect loops no longer freeze the preview, and HTML projects keep their visual covers. (#5602, #5689, #5710, #5469, #5762)
- Preview and deploy feedback stays visible. Delivery status is clearer, cross-project file links stay inside the app, and deployment success messages appear above the modal that triggered them. (#5557, #5611, #5455, #5696)
🎞 Decks and export
- Deck exports now match what you reviewed. Multi-page PPT/PDF exports include every slide, slide-image and PDF output avoids overlapping text, editable PPTX keeps CJK typefaces, and rendered thumbnails no longer disappear. (#5645, #5628, #5644, #5626)
- Presentation details stay in sync. Page counters follow keyboard navigation, speaker-note presentations use a safer sandbox, and dark-theme Mermaid diagrams keep the intended visual discipline. (#5594, #5571, #5595)

🏠 Home & onboarding
- See what changed without leaving Home. After an update, a one-time “What’s New” card brings the latest release highlights into the app instead of making you hunt for release notes. (#5071)
- New users get a clearer first step. Home now recommends a starting point based on the first-run questionnaire, carries it into Studio as an editable prompt, and guides the first artifact from generation to preview and delivery. (#5111, #5160)
🎨 Studio, previews & design systems
- WebGL work finally looks alive in Preview. Powered previews unlock Web Workers, WASM, SharedArrayBuffer, and richer GPU experiences inside HTML artifacts, with ten new WebGL examples ready to explore. (#5266, #5312) Thanks @pftom, @XingliGe.
- Tom Modern joins the bundled design systems. A sharp editorial system with neutral surfaces, vermillion accents, technical typography, and ready-made components gives generated work another distinct visual direction. (#4918) Thanks @Tom-Opencart.
🔑 Models, media & agents
- MiniMax Image-01 is now available for image generation. Create from text or use an existing image as a subject reference through the MiniMax provider. (#4563) Thanks @ryanoolala.
- Kiro can join the MCP workflow. Kiro users can now install and connect through Open Design’s MCP setup. (#5118) Thanks @YOMXXX.
🔁 Changed
- Model picking reveals more of the trade-off before you run. Cost and quality metadata now appear directly in model badges, while unavailable or tier-restricted choices are gated more clearly instead of failing after selection. (#5216, #5335, #5407) Thanks @Mason6660201, @mrcfps.
- Low balances interrupt you later—and explain the next step better. Cloud runs are checked before they start so prompts are not lost, while the low-balance reminder appears less aggressively and offers clearer sign-in, recharge, and continue actions. (#5103, #5349)
- Updates take the safe route when an in-place upgrade is no longer enough. Open Design can send users to the full installer when a future release requires capabilities the current build cannot adopt safely. (#5235) Thanks @PerishCode.
- Automation schedules stay in the language you chose. Localized schedule summaries no longer fall back to generic text. (#3591) Thanks @mturac.
🐛 Fixed
🎨 Studio, previews & community
- Design-system previews load their images reliably again. Missing preview assets no longer leave design-system cards or detail views incomplete. (#5381)
- The plugin preview panel can always be collapsed. Scrolling content no longer covers the sidebar handle. (#5300)
- Annotation controls stay close to the work. The draw composer now floats beside the active annotation instead of appearing at a fixed, disconnected position. (#5296) Thanks @lefarcen.
- Artifacts from plain-stream agents keep their identity. Artifact tags now survive persistence across fenced, indented, and inline output formats. (#4731) Thanks @YOMXXX.
- Community previews match the plugins that actually ship. Stale and blank preview entries are filtered out before they reach Home. (#5262) Thanks @XingliGe.
- Japanese text renders with the right fallback fonts. Preview content is less likely to show missing-glyph boxes. (#5104) Thanks @Allenz5.
🧠 Agents, runtimes & recovery
- First launch no longer strands the desktop app on a raw 502 page. Transient startup failures are retried and real gateway errors are handled honestly. (#5186) Thanks @swpark3179.
- Local CLI setup can be tested during onboarding again. The missing connection control has been restored. (#4686) Thanks @roian6.
- Recovered runs keep streaming. After the daemon reconnects, the web app continues consuming retries instead of stopping after the first recovery. (# |
| 0.14.0 | 8 de juliol del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: Inspiration Time Machine
🪄 125 PRs · 36 contributors · 5 days — 0.14.0 makes Open Design an inspiration time machine. Too many good ideas still vanished into the flow: a promising sketch, a useful source, a better earlier version, or the exact moment a draft started to go wrong. 0.14.0 keeps more of the work alive — sketch first, trace the inputs, step back through HTML history, and recover the thread instead of losing the spark. 🚀
🔥 Highlights
- ✏️ Plan mode gives rough ideas somewhere to land before the real build starts. Jumping straight from a thought to a long prompt could make early exploration feel slippery: the concept changed fast, but the working plan stayed invisible. Plan mode and Excalidraw sketch flows make it easier to think in outlines, shapes, and next steps before you commit to a full run. (#4862) Thanks @pftom.
- 📚 Composer context stops feeling hidden behind the answer. When a result looked right or wrong, it used to take too much guessing to remember what the model actually saw. Context sources now show the material feeding the composer and track that trail more clearly, so follow-up edits feel grounded instead of fuzzy. (#4869, #5057) Thanks @pftom.
- 🕘 HTML work now has visible version history. Generated or edited HTML used to feel fragile: once you changed it, the previous shape could disappear with it. HTML file version history makes iteration safer, so you can compare, recover, and keep moving without treating every edit like a one-way door. (#4872, #5072) Thanks @pftom.
- 🧩 Design systems are turning into real working material, not just references. Instead of hunting across screenshots, style snippets, and separate kits, you can now pull richer system context straight into the flow. The Design System Source Context plugin, the Glass Design System UI Kit plugin, and richer live previews with lightbox browsing make reusable design material easier to inspect and apply. (#4931, #4395, #4777) Thanks @hanyunsushi, @HiCatcat, @pftom.
- 💸 Model choices stop hiding the trade-offs. Picking a model used to feel like a memory test: which option is newer, which one costs more, and which provider is about to fail for a small configuration reason? Cloud model cost tiers, refreshed pricing support, and cleaner provider error handling make choosing — and trusting — a model a lot less blind. (#5247, #5212, #4873, #5054) Thanks @XingliGe, @pruefsumme, @YOMXXX.
- 🔌 Bring-your-own stack fits more real-world setups. Teams using their own providers or internal endpoints should not need a pile of glue before the first run. BYOK providers now route more cleanly through OpenCode, internal provider endpoints are easier to allow safely, and local auth is less likely to be misread as broken. (#4876, #4250, #4632) Thanks @PerishCode, @maxmilian, @thatditsyboy.
- 🔄 Live work is harder to lose during reloads and reconnects. A dropped stream, a reload, or a quick search could still knock a good session out of rhythm. Reconnection is more resilient now, failed-looking messages can reattach when the run actually succeeded, preview reload behaves properly, and the composer stays steadier during fast interaction. (#4971, #4651, #4652, #4298) Thanks @TheRealMkadmi, @cbeaulieu-gt, @Diyoncrz18.
- 🩺 When something breaks, Open Design leaves a better trail behind. “Error” without context is not a fix; it is a dead end. Specific export error codes, run workspace provenance, and packaged crash-scene evidence make failures much easier to explain, reproduce, and recover from. (#5220, #4264, #5224) Thanks @lefarcen, @dredozubov.

| 0.13.0 | 2 de juliol del 2026 | — | 64 bits EXE (NSIS) Notes de la versió🌟 Codename: Stay in Flow
🧭 116 PRs · 26 contributors · 6 days — 0.13.0 keeps the design session alive. The old rhythm was easy to break: a run lost its place, a model picker made you guess, an OpenDesign Cloud balance check hid behind a retry, or a finished deck needed one more export detour. 0.13.0 turns those interruptions into a calmer loop: resume the work, see what is happening, choose the right model faster, and hand off real files without leaving Open Design. 🚀
🔥 Highlights
- 🧵 Resume the conversation instead of rebuilding the context. Long design sessions used to punish every interruption: switch tools, come back later, and the next prompt might feel like starting from scratch. Native session resume now keeps Codex, OpenCode, Pi, and OpenDesign Cloud runs connected across turns, so follow-up work can continue from the same live thread. (#4629) Thanks @lefarcen.
- 🔑 BYOK setup stops feeling like provider archaeology. Bringing your own keys should be a choice, not a scavenger hunt through model names and provider quirks. Presets now make provider setup clearer, and the first-artifact handoff is cleaner for both CLI and BYOK flows. (#4902, #4634) Thanks @PerishCode.
- 🤖 OpenDesign Cloud shows its wallet, its retries, and its next move. Balance checks are no longer a black box. The settings card shows wallet state more clearly, keeps actions inline, restores follow-up handling, and promotes retry statuses so a transient balance lookup feels recoverable instead of mysterious. (#4675, #4965, #4984, #5002, #5010, #5015) Thanks @alchemistklk.
- 📤 Exports behave more like deliverables. Finished work can now go straight to screenshot-backed PPTX and PDF output, while deck keyboard navigation no longer double-steps through slides. The export path feels closer to handoff, not a separate production chore. (#4604, #4897) Thanks @lefarcen, @PerishCode.
- 🧩 Design-system previews got richer and easier to trust. Brand pages stay previewable after prefetch, rich design-system chips are easier to scan, logo previews behave, and bundled plugin examples are easier to open as real projects. (#4530, #4776, #4806, #4861, #4952) Thanks @PerishCode, @pftom, chaoxiaoche.
- 🧠 Agent choices are broader, clearer, and less brittle. Open Design now recognizes the standalone Codex app bundle, ships a newer bundled Vela CLI, supports Mimo Code, and fixes the Cogito output cap so agent setup is less likely to fail for environmental reasons. (#4575, #4578, #4888, #4889) Thanks @Grumpster-Dev, @yangweijie, @lefarcen, @xne998808-ai.
- 🏢 Teams and official channels are easier to find. Workspace-for-Teams now has a visible entry point and enterprise lead page, official social links include Instagram, LinkedIn, and Xiaohongshu, and the product/resource navigation is less likely to steal clicks from the pages people meant to open. (#4737, #4779, #4784, #4977) Thanks @lefarcen, @Tuola, @xne998808-ai.
- 🩺 When something fails, the app gives you a better starting point. Run lifecycle tracing, clearer task-failure cards, simpler error-source diagnostics, and better cache accounting make failed or resumed work easier to understand without turning the UI into a log viewer. (#4431, #4432, #4656, #4701, #4903) Thanks @PerishCode, michaeltaxman911-hue, @lefarcen.
