10.39.0 - 2026-10-28
Ghostex 10.39.0 is out. Linux works like Windows from the first run on Omarchy and other Hyprland desktops, and the AppImage updates itself. Agents show as pills you can click and mention with +, DeepSeek Harness joins the agents, Orchestrators are Coordinators again, the bar above the composer gets two rows, a Resources pill and a Links pill, and GPT 6.1 Terra joins Codex.
🐧 Linux
- The AppImage updates itself like Windows: Download update fetches the new version, checks its signature against the Ghostex key built into the app, and Restart and update swaps it in and relaunches, going back to the old version if anything fails. deb, rpm, tarball and AUR installs keep the update notice.
- Omarchy and Hyprland treat Ghostex's small windows as floating: the setup window, popups, menus, tooltips, the Running Agents panel and Docs note windows no longer tile, and a dialog's close button, toast buttons and chat suggestions can be clicked.
- Omarchy's Super+C and Super+V copy and paste in Ghostex without stopping a running command; Ctrl+Insert and Shift+Insert also copy and paste in text fields on Windows and Linux.
- No light flash at launch on a dark desktop, and the setup's System appearance follows the desktop.
- Links open in Wayland-only browsers: the intro video, Settings links, Open In, Reveal, the update dialog and sign-ins inside agent sessions no longer do nothing on Omarchy.
- Dropping a file onto a chat or the terminal works on Hyprland, from X11 and Wayland file managers.
- Clicking a notification opens its session or browser tab, and browser page notifications show once.
- Middle-click pastes the selection in the terminal, as in other Linux terminals.
- Computer Use can see the screen on Hyprland and Sway.
- When the background service can't start, the sidebar says why within seconds (a taken port names the program holding it) with Try again, on Linux and macOS.
- First run on Linux: a folder chooser when the system has none, the AppImage adds Ghostex to the app launcher, and the ghostex command goes to ~/.local/bin; Settings > Integrations says why the command isn't usable and gives the PATH line to copy.
- Looking for agents never installs them: Omarchy's install-on-first-run commands count as not installed until you start that agent.
🤖 Agents
- Agents show as pills: a mention of another session, and every message between agents, shows a +Session pill with the agent's logo, and a click switches to that session.
- Type + in the chat box to mention another agent in the project; Copy ID copies a session's mention to paste into another chat, and Copy Details tells the agent to run ghostex agents.
- DeepSeek Harness is a supported agent (under More agents): Chat View, install and update from Settings > Agents through mise, and its models and reasoning levels in the model menu and the chat's model pill.
- Orchestrators are called Coordinators again, and ghostex coordinator is the command (ghostex orchestrator keeps working). The chat's Threads pill is now Workers.
- GPT 6.1 Terra joins the Codex models, and Cursor adds DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 with its current ids and effort levels. A small ⓘ beside Codex's Fast notes that Codex keeps Fast for new sessions too.
💬 Chat
- The bar above the composer takes two rows when the working text doesn't fit: the current action on top, the pills below, with a short animation, and it doesn't jump back and forth during a turn. Pills that don't fit scroll with a soft fade at the edge.
- A Links pill in that bar replaces the links in the chat's top bar, with one link's ID and +N (SPX-123 +2); the sidebar's links badge shows the same, and a pinned link becomes the badge's ID.
- Suggested links open unfolded when a session has 2 or fewer links.
- A Resources pill opens Chat Resources, and the ? pill jumps from question to question. Rows show how long ago they were asked, without question numbers, and a button puts a question off For later or brings it back.
- The Accounts & limits panel is about half as tall: each account's 5h, 7d and model limits sit in one row, with reset times in their tooltips.
- @ shows a file pill only for a file or folder that exists in the project, so npm packages and handles stay plain text.
- Pages agents show in the chat fit a phone: columns stack, small pills stay on one line, and wide mockups scroll inside their own box.
- The Running Agents panel opens with its top 3 projects expanded, and with every session-card hover button turned off, hovering a sidebar row no longer changes it.
🔌 Remote computers
- A machine that points back at this computer says so and never installs or updates a background service there.
- Editing a machine reconnects at once, the Settings tile shows why a machine can't connect, ~/ paths work when adding a remote project, and removing a machine closes its connection.
🩹 Fixes and polish
- Answering Claude's question and approval cards works with Claude Code 2.1.311's files panel open, No clears the approval, and a refused tool call ends the turn instead of leaving the session working.
- Picking GPT 6.1 Terra works, new Codex sessions show their model before the first message, and a stale red Copy Report clears once an approval closes.
- On the phone, Send stays above the keyboard however long the message is.
- Files no longer gets stuck on a file that was deleted.
