🛠️ Improvements & Bug Fixes
1. Fixed macOS Helper Installation Failure
Resolved an issue where installing the FlyEnv helper after a DMG installation could repeatedly fail with Terminal exited with code 5 or Bootstrap failed: 5: Input/output error, preventing access to local sites and other operations that require the helper.
The installer now removes inherited macOS quarantine attributes from both the installed helper executable and its LaunchDaemon configuration before registering the service. This addresses the installation failure reported on macOS 27.
Thanks to @zhoujians for the contribution, @PaulDelwig and @lizejun999 for the reports, and @Tastaturberuf for helping identify the cause! Pull Request #893 · Issue #899 · Issue #901
2. Fixed Apache Startup on Linux
Resolved an issue reported on Fedora 44 KDE where Apache failed to start after updating to v4.20.0 with AppHelperError: unapproved service executable name.
FlyEnv now resolves Apache launcher scripts such as apachectl and apache2ctl to the actual httpd or apache2 server executable before starting the service. Required Apache environment settings are preserved, along with the selected installation's existing FlyEnv configuration.
Thanks to @DigionsPieces for the report! Issue #894
3. Fixed PostgreSQL Startup When the Server Is Already Stopped
Resolved an issue on macOS and Linux where starting a stopped PostgreSQL instance failed during the pre-start cleanup with a missing postmaster.pid error. Users no longer need to start PostgreSQL manually before using FlyEnv's start button.
FlyEnv now checks whether the selected database instance is actually running before requesting a native stop. A stopped instance, including one with an outdated PID file from an unclean shutdown, can proceed to startup; genuine stop failures still report an error.
Thanks to @Megumi1773 for the contribution and @glitter1105 for the report! Pull Request #900 · Issue #902
4. Fixed llama.cpp GPU Device Selection
Resolved an issue where the llama.cpp plugin passed a numeric GPU index directly to the server, causing startup to fail with an invalid device: 0 error.
Saved numeric indices now resolve to the device name for the selected backend, such as CUDA0, Vulkan0, or MTL0. The GPU device setting also accepts explicit device names and comma-separated device lists, while leaving it empty lets llama.cpp choose its default device. Updated settings hints explain the accepted values.
Thanks to @Megumi1773 for the contribution! Pull Request #898

🚀 New Features
1. Added Windows UAC Authorization Mode
FlyEnv can now perform supported Windows administrator operations through the native User Account Control (UAC) prompt, without requiring the FlyEnv helper to be installed. This gives users an alternative on devices where installing a background helper is inconvenient.
The new authorization workflow provides:
- Your Choice of Authorization Method: Choose UAC or the FlyEnv helper when administrator access is first needed, and change the preference later in Settings
- Helper-Free UAC Operation: In UAC mode, privileged tasks request Windows authorization directly, without automatically installing or repairing the helper
- System Task Coverage: Supports administrator operations for hosts entries, DNS refresh, environment variables and PATH, certificates, and managed process operations
- Clear Cancellation and Failure Feedback: Cancelling an authorization request leaves the selected method intact and reports the affected operation's result
- Existing Helper Management: Users switching to UAC can choose to disable their existing FlyEnv helper
2. Added llama.cpp Plugin
The Plugin Market now includes llama.cpp for managing local inference runtimes and GGUF models directly in FlyEnv.
The plugin provides:
- Runtime Version Management: Download and manage official llama.cpp releases with the CPU or GPU backend available for your platform
- GGUF Model Library: Browse and search public Hugging Face model repositories, inspect model files and sizes, and download models into a local library
- Inference Settings: Configure the selected model, context size, CPU threads, GPU layers, listening address, and port
- Service Controls and Logs: Start, stop, and restart the local inference server through FlyEnv's service controls, and inspect its logs
- Local API Access: Run an OpenAI-compatible local endpoint, with API key configuration for authenticated access
Thanks to @vaanwd for the feature request! Issue #722
3. Added OpenSearch Plugin
The new OpenSearch plugin adds a search and analytics engine to the Plugin Market, with version management and the standard FlyEnv service workflow on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The plugin provides:
- Version Management: Download and manage OpenSearch versions from FlyEnv
- Service Controls: Start and stop OpenSearch from its module or the system tray
- Configuration and Logs: Edit OpenSearch, JVM, and logging settings, and inspect service logs
- Local Development Mode: Disable the OpenSearch security plugin through a dedicated development-mode switch, with restart guidance
- OpenSearch Dashboards: Prepare and open the matching Dashboards version for the running OpenSearch service
Thanks to @xnhinzkyx for the feature request! Issue #880
🛠️ Improvements & Bug Fixes
4. Fixed Excessively Long Classic Tray Menus
The classic tray menu now moves entries beyond its top-level limit into a More submenu. This keeps long lists of startup groups and services from pushing the main-window and exit actions out of reach, while retaining access to every service control.
Thanks to @TanNhatCMS for the report! Issue #878

🛠️ Improvements & Bug Fixes
1. Fixed Invisible Tray Window Blocking Mouse Clicks on macOS
Resolved an issue where, after updating to v4.19.0, an invisible FlyEnv window could sit above all other applications and intercept mouse clicks. The affected area extended from the top-left corner of the screen down the left side, making windows, buttons, links, and desktop icons in that zone unclickable until FlyEnv was fully closed.
The cause was the tray popup's "fake hide" mechanism: instead of truly hiding, the popup window was made fully transparent and parked off-screen. A transparent window still intercepts mouse input, and macOS can move off-screen windows back onto the display — leaving an invisible overlay blocking the top-left area. The tray popup now truly hides with the native window-hide call. It is set to fully transparent right before hiding, so the system window fade that Windows replays on transparent windows still plays invisibly, and full opacity is restored when the popup appears — no click blocking, and no visible fade.
Thanks to @dkoychev for the report! Issue #869

🚀 New Features
1. Added Plugin Market
FlyEnv now includes a dedicated Plugin Market (Settings → Plugin Market) that lets you extend the app with optional modules while keeping the core application focused. Plugins can provide complete FlyEnv modules — including services with their own pages, configuration, and logs — that integrate into the same workflow as the built-in modules.
The Plugin Market provides:
- Official Catalog: Browse and install official FlyEnv plugins with one click
- Third-Party Registries: Add community plugin registry URLs as additional sources; third-party sources are explicitly acknowledged before their plugins can be installed
- Installed Plugin Management: Update, disable, re-enable, or uninstall installed plugins from one place
- No Restart Required: Installing, updating, disabling, and removing plugins takes effect immediately — new modules appear in the menu and running services are stopped safely before changes
Installing and updating plugins requires an active FlyEnv license; already-installed plugins keep working without one.
2. Added Kafka Plugin
The Plugin Market launches with Kafka as its first official service plugin. The plugin adds a complete Apache Kafka module that runs a single-node KRaft-mode broker (no ZooKeeper required) on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
This integration provides:
- Version Management: Download and manage Kafka releases directly from FlyEnv
- Java Runtime Binding: Runs on a Java 17+ runtime, with validation of the selected Java version
- Service Controls: Start and stop the broker through the standard FlyEnv service workflow, including system tray integration
- Topic Management: Create, inspect, and delete Kafka topics from the built-in Topics page
- Configuration and Logs: Edit the generated server configuration and inspect broker logs from the module
🛠️ Improvements & Bug Fixes
3. Improved Podman Rosetta Setting on Apple Silicon
The Rosetta switch for Podman machines is now disabled with an explanatory tip when the installed Podman version is known to be too old (below 5.1.0, which introduced the [machine] rosetta containers.conf option), while unknown versions no longer false-disable the control. The setting is also clearly documented as a global Podman preference rather than a per-VM option, and the FlyEnv-managed flyenv-podman.conf drop-in now carries a header comment explaining its origin and safe removal.
Thanks to @YoloCyber for the contribution! Pull Request #863
4. Fixed MySQL Root Password Initialization on Custom Ports
Resolved an issue where the first start of a MySQL instance configured on a non-default port failed to set the root password: the initialization command always connected to the default port 3306, leaving the new instance with an empty password while FlyEnv kept connecting with the configured one. FlyEnv now resolves the instance's own configuration file, passes the correct port explicitly, and retries the initialization for slow-starting servers.
Thanks to @ulusoyomer for the contribution! Pull Request #866 Issue #773
5. Fixed Windows Tray Popup on Non-Bottom Taskbars
Resolved several issues with the Windows tray popup: it was clipped off-screen whenever the taskbar was docked to the top, left, or right edge; it re-laid-out visibly right after appearing; and every opening replayed a ~300ms system window fade. The popup now positions itself from the actual taskbar edge with the arrow pointing at the tray icon, appears instantly in a single frame, and handles focus correctly so clicking outside closes it as expected.
Thanks to @darius-gs for the contribution! Pull Request #868

🚀 New Features
1. Added First-Run Technology Stack Selection
FlyEnv now gives genuinely new users a guided technology-stack selector before the main workspace opens. Instead of showing the entire module catalog by default, users can start with only the technologies relevant to their work.
The new onboarding experience includes:
- Eight Stack Presets: PHP, Node.js, Java, Python, Go, .NET, Ruby, and Rust
- Multi-Stack Selection: Multiple presets can be combined, and FlyEnv enables the union of their recommended modules
- Practical Defaults: PHP is initially selected, while Startup Groups, Hosts, and Tools remain available as common utilities
- Full Control: Users can still show every module or open Settings → Modules for detailed customization
- Safe First-Run Behavior: The selector only applies to fresh installations, so existing users keep their current module visibility settings
This makes the initial FlyEnv experience more focused and reduces the cognitive load caused by modules that a new user may not need.
2. Added Drag-and-Drop Sorting for Startup Groups
Startup Group cards can now be reordered directly from their drag handles. The chosen order is stored locally and restored the next time FlyEnv opens.
The implementation also preserves the default group identity, avoids unnecessary storage writes when the order has not changed, rejects invalid reorder data, and restores the last saved order if persistence fails.
🛠️ Improvements & Bug Fixes
3. Fixed Windows Machine ID Detection for Licensing
FlyEnv now has a more resilient Windows machine ID lookup for systems where the primary UUID provider returns an empty value or fails.
The fallback process reads Windows' MachineGuid first and then tries Win32_ComputerSystemProduct.UUID, validating the result before it is used. This fixes cases where affected users could not request or activate a FlyEnv license because no machine UUID was available.
Thanks to @FunkZero for reporting the UUID issue! Discussion #606
4. Fixed Podman Machine Creation Parameters
Podman machine creation has been updated to avoid unsupported command-line parameters and to match Podman's expected configuration behavior:
- Rosetta Configuration: Rosetta support on Apple Silicon is now written to a FlyEnv-managed containers.conf.d drop-in instead of passing the invalid --rosetta initialization flag
- Disk Sizing: The disk size setting and dashboard display now consistently use GiB, with a supported range of 10–1024 GiB
- SSH Identity Handling: The unsupported --identity-path initialization argument has been removed; FlyEnv continues to display Podman's generated SSH identity as read-only information
- Configuration Compatibility: FlyEnv respects synchronized XDG_CONFIG_HOME values and preserves custom CONTAINERS_CONF configurations through Podman's override mechanism

🚀 New Features
1. Added Tomcat Application Mappings
Tomcat sites can now map application directories or WAR files to explicit context paths while creating or editing a site. FlyEnv validates the mapping, writes the required Tomcat Context descriptors, and keeps the generated configuration synchronized when the site changes.
This makes it possible to serve multiple applications from one Tomcat site using paths such as /, /api, or /admin without manually maintaining Tomcat XML files.
2. Added Configurable PHP FastCGI Worker Counts on Windows
Windows PHP FastCGI installations can now set the number of php-cgi workers for each installed PHP version. Choose an integer from 1 to 64 in FlyEnv; restarting a running PHP service applies the updated count.
This gives local PHP projects a supported way to tune concurrency when several sites or heavier development workloads are running at once.
Issue #830
3. Added Persian Language Support
FlyEnv is now available in Persian (fa). The new locale covers the application's built-in translation catalog and is selectable from the language settings.
Thanks to @Nitron2020 for the contribution! Pull Request #829
4. Added AI CLI Session Quick Actions
The session pages for Antigravity, Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI, Kimi, and OpenCode now provide quick actions for each working directory. Start a new AI CLI session directly in that directory, or resume its most recent session with one click.
This makes it faster to return to the right project context without manually opening a terminal, changing directories, and entering the CLI command.
🛠️ Improvements & Bug Fixes
5. Improved Windows Helper and Data Directory Initialization
FlyEnv now coordinates Windows Helper startup with data-directory initialization more reliably. When a new installation needs elevated access to create or repair its data location, FlyEnv can recover permissions and retry the operation before dependent setup continues.
This improves first-run reliability for Windows users who previously could not start using FlyEnv because its data directory or Helper had not initialized correctly.
6. Fixed Rust Installation on Windows
Resolved a Windows installation issue that could leave downloaded Rust archives in an invalid layout. FlyEnv now unpacks the official archive through a staging directory and installs its expected root directory correctly.
7. Removed NVM and FNM Support on Windows
FlyEnv no longer detects or operates the external NVM and FNM Node.js version managers on Windows. Managed Node.js versions continue to work through FlyEnv's built-in installation workflow, while removing this integration prevents the NVM startup popup reported by affected users.
Issue #831
8. Fixed Windows Tray Menu Click Behavior
The Windows modern tray menu now opens from a right-click only. Double-clicking the tray icon opens the main FlyEnv window without also displaying the quick-action menu.
Issue #831
9. Fixed macOS Alias PATH Entries
Resolved an issue where editing a FlyEnv alias on macOS could write a stray quote into the PATH export in .zshrc. Alias setup now parses existing path entries safely and preserves a valid shell configuration.

- Service Controls: Start and stop Neo4j instances through the standard FlyEnv service workflow
- Configuration and Logs: Edit the Neo4j configuration and inspect service startup and runtime logs
- Neo4j Browser Access: Open the local Neo4j Browser for a running instance
Issue #719
2. Added PostgreSQL pgAdmin 4 Panel
PostgreSQL now includes a built-in pgAdmin 4 web management panel. When PostgreSQL is running, open the panel from the service toolbar to manage the active local database in a browser.
FlyEnv installs pgAdmin 4 on demand with the selected Python runtime, keeps its data and logs in the PostgreSQL workspace, registers the active FlyEnv PostgreSQL server, and stops the companion process together with PostgreSQL.
Issue #680
3. Added MongoDB DbGate Panel
MongoDB now provides an on-demand DbGate web management panel for working with local MongoDB databases. FlyEnv installs the DbGate runtime with the selected Node.js version, stores its workspace under FlyEnv data, protects the local panel with generated credentials, reuses healthy instances, and stops DbGate with MongoDB.
4. Added Redis Commander Panel
Redis now includes an on-demand Redis Commander web management panel. FlyEnv installs it with the selected Node.js runtime, connects it to the running Redis instance, opens an authenticated local URL, reuses healthy instances, and cleans up the companion process when Redis stops.
🛠️ Improvements & Bug Fixes
5. Fixed Site QR Code URLs
Site QR codes now encode the complete site URL, including the http:// or https:// protocol and any configured port. Scanning a code from the Hosts or Tomcat site list now opens the site as a link instead of treating the hostname as plain text.

A separate Temporal CLI module is now available for local development workflows. It manages the official Temporal CLI and its temporal server start-dev development server, with configurable ports, local database settings, logs, and direct access to the built-in Web UI.
Issue #730
4. Control Startup Groups from the Tray Menu
Startup Groups are now displayed in the FlyEnv tray menu, ahead of individual services. You can start or stop a saved group directly from either tray style, making it easier to switch an entire project environment without opening the main window.
Issue #782
🛠️ Improvements & Bug Fixes
5. Improved Windows Privileged Operations and Helper Recovery
Windows users can now choose the elevation method used for operations that require administrator permission: the persistent FlyEnv Helper or standard UAC prompts. FlyEnv continues to use the Helper by default, while UAC offers a practical alternative for supported operations on systems where the Helper cannot be installed or used.
If Helper installation fails, FlyEnv now automatically switches to UAC so supported privileged actions remain available instead of being blocked by the failed Helper setup.

3. Updated MinIO Download Source
FlyEnv now uses the maintained pgsty/minio fork as the updated MinIO download source, improving install availability after upstream distribution changes and making MinIO version downloads more reliable.
Issue #626
4. Fixed Windows Python Environment Variable Setup
Resolved a Windows issue where FlyEnv could register an incorrect Python environment path during setup. Python environment registration now points to the correct FlyEnv-managed runtime layout, so newly installed Python versions are exposed more reliably.
Issue #633
5. Fixed Rust Toolchain Detection for Custom CARGO_HOME / RUSTUP_HOME
Resolved an issue where FlyEnv could miss Rust toolchains installed through rustup when CARGO_HOME or RUSTUP_HOME had been customized. FlyEnv now respects those environment variables when locating rustup, toolchains, and related runtime data.
Issue #691
6. Improved Local Site Support for localhost + Port Workflows
FlyEnv site management now supports using localhost with explicit ports such as localhost:8080 when adding or editing sites. This makes local multi-port workflows easier to model without creating extra fake domains just to separate ports.
This improvement includes:
- Port-Aware Duplicate Checks: Sites with the same hostname are allowed as long as their listening ports do not conflict
- Port Extraction from Host Input: Entering localhost:port now applies that port to the site configuration instead of dropping it on save
- Cleaner Hosts File Behavior: Pure loopback sites no longer require redundant hosts-file writes, which reduces unnecessary admin prompts
- Stable Vhost File Naming: Generated vhost, rewrite, and log files now avoid same-name collisions across multi-port localhost sites

🛠️ Improvements & Bug Fixes
1. Improved Service Startup on Windows
Reworked how FlyEnv launches its services on Windows to reduce the chance of false positives from antivirus software. Services now start through a cleaner launch path, so security tools are less likely to flag normal FlyEnv operations.
2. Improved Service Startup on macOS
Reworked how FlyEnv launches its services on macOS to resolve conflicts with certain terminal applications that modify the system default ZSH configuration. Those conflicts previously prevented FlyEnv-managed services from starting; services now launch reliably regardless of the host shell setup.
3. Fixed Startup-on-Boot for Paths Containing Spaces
Fixed the auto-start-on-boot logic on Windows and Linux so it works correctly when FlyEnv is installed in a folder whose path contains spaces. Boot startup is now registered correctly in these cases instead of failing silently.
4. Fixed Mailpit Version Detection
Fixed an issue where FlyEnv could not correctly read the version number for newer Mailpit releases. Mailpit version detection now works as expected.
5. Fixed RabbitMQ Management Plugin
Fixed an issue where the RabbitMQ management plugin could not be enabled, which left the RabbitMQ web management panel unusable. The management plugin now enables correctly and the web panel works as intended.
