Small cards and living nests.
New:
- Living nests. Nests spawn on storm triggers, follow their storm, retire,
and rearm during a run, on the GPU, with rendered products per episode.
- Restart. Runs checkpoint and restore with bit-identical continuation,
proven across multi-segment splits.
- Expected pace before you commit. run-plan and check state the expected
seconds per step and wall clock for your domain on your card, from
measured rates, and name the domain size that would run resident.
- Latest-cycle fetches ask NOMADS first and route around lagging mirrors
automatically. Receipts name the host that served every file.
- WPS intermediates from ECMWF open data and AIFS. Ordinal soil layers
decode through the standard tables, so both sources are table work.
- Per-file download progress with real byte counts.
Fixed:
- VRAM sizing now prices the whole run, including the radiation working
set that fires after the first minutes. A card that passes the check
finishes the run.
- Streamed initialization no longer keeps a resident copy of the domain,
which paged 10 GB cards into unusability.
- check accepts every streamed domain that go can run. The alloc gate is
tile-aware.
- A stale or spent VRAM budget refuses up front with every term named,
instead of failing after the download and preparation.
- First-step status reports what the engine is actually doing.
- Fetch receipts claim every file they write, and an interrupted forced
refetch can no longer leave a stale receipt beside rejected data.
- A run that failed past the fetch comes back without re-downloading. The
fetch verifies and skips what is already on disk and the receipt says
which files it skipped, preparation is reused when nothing feeding it
moved, and superseded forecast output is moved aside rather than deleted.
- The standalone RW-WPS wheel ships the nest lifecycle module.
- The ERA5 model-level route is documented alongside every other source.
- A projected or Gaussian grid refuses by name instead of minting a
mis-georeferenced lat-lon intermediate. Uniform lat-lon output is
unchanged.
