Highlights
- This video, or the whole list. A link to a video in a playlist, Mix or album now offers This video beside the list on the URL tab and in Explore. A Mix can be downloaded as a list too, and a video the global hotkey took from a list offers the rest of the list in Downloads.
Fixes
- The Downloads tab shows a status filter only when it has items, without a "0" on any chip, and the filters wrap onto a second line instead of scrolling sideways.
- A list from another site that waits for your choice in Downloads now offers All videos next to Review, even when it is shorter than your load limit.
- Bulk URLs no longer repeats "Add at least one supported URL to continue." under its empty preview.
- A profile editor no longer closes on its own when an earlier save you cancelled finishes.
- Resetting a built-in profile keeps the editor open with an error when the reset could not be saved.
- A filename template that has {id} but doesn't end with [{id}] now shows the warning, and turns off .m3u playlists and the already-downloaded check, which could not find its files.
- Subtitles-only and audio-only profiles no longer offer Embed, so the profile editor always shows the subtitle format they save. Ones saved with Embed switch to saving subtitles in the download folder, which is what they already did.
- A playlist downloaded with a subtitles-only profile through Quick Download or Bulk no longer leaves an empty .m3u file, and Arroxy never writes a playlist file with nothing in it.
- A video from a site with a music or radio name no longer opens as audio only when it has a picture.
- Playlist profiles show the whole Duration header in every language.
- Bulk URLs cuts a pasted playlist or channel longer than your load limit at that limit, and its review now says which lists were cut and how to get the rest.
- Pause All now also pauses a download that is still preparing, instead of letting it start once preparation finishes.
- Resume All now continues paused downloads where they stopped, so a download limited to a lower quality still finishes with the limited-quality notice.
- A download paused while it was resuming continues where it left off when you resume it, instead of starting over.
- Cancelling a download no longer deletes other partial files in its folder, such as a browser download still in progress.
- A pasted link with an apostrophe, or a query that ends in ! or ?, is no longer cut short, YouTube and YouTube Music searches included.
- Review of a list waiting for your choice in Downloads now shows the same videos the row offered, even after you change the load limit.
- Quitting while downloads run no longer cancels your queue: Arroxy asks first, from the menu and Cmd+Q too, and continues the downloads the next time you open it.
- For a download without video, the wizard now says its subtitles go in the download folder rather than next to a video.
- Cancelling a download while its subtitles download no longer leaves a partial subtitle file in your download folder.
- A download profile now finds YouTube subtitles the uploader gave a name of their own, instead of reporting that the language is missing or taking the automatic captions.
- Links still being checked when you quit are checked again the next time you open Arroxy, instead of failing with "App restarted while fetching video details".
- Bulk URLs' Quick Download puts its links in Downloads at once instead of blocking the window while it checks them, and a list past the load limit asks how many on its row.
- A link in Downloads keeps its place once its details are fetched, so a batch stays in the order you added it.
- Download profiles take the resolution the Format screen names, and Small file and Low data no longer download a large file of unknown resolution when smaller ones are listed.
- A video from a playlist in Bulk URLs no longer sends the who

Arroxy's website has a new address: https://arroxy.com/. The About, Share and update "Download" links open it.
Highlights
- 19 new languages. Arroxy now speaks Basque, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Galician, Hebrew, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian and Swedish, and opens in them on first launch when your system uses them. The feedback form is translated into each of them too.
- Paste button. The empty URL field has a Paste button that puts in the link you copied, even one Arroxy already filled in earlier. Several copied links open Bulk URLs.
- More filename tokens. Name files and folders after {year}, {site}, {categories}, {artist}, {album} and {track}, for example {artist}/{album}/{track} [{id}].
Fixes
- A download folder named like $HOME or %USERPROFILE%, or ending in a space, now gets the files, instead of a folder elsewhere with the name expanded.
- Playlist subtitles, and subtitles from sites other than YouTube, are the exact tracks you asked for, never a machine translation. A subtitles-only download is named after its video.
- With Explore's ad blocker on, YouTube results and grids show view counts and upload dates again.
- Signing in to Facebook, Instagram or Threads in Explore works with the ad blocker on, instead of returning to the login page or stopping at a security check.
- The feedback form opens in full over Explore, instead of being hidden behind the page.
- File and folder names keep $, % and ~ as in the title, instead of look-alike characters.
- On first launch, Arroxy opens in your system language even when it is Khmer, Burmese, Uzbek, Pashto or Oromo, instead of English. If you prefer a language Arroxy lacks, it takes the next one in your system's list.
- When a video no longer offers the format you picked, Arroxy says so and asks you to pick again, instead of calling the video private, deleted or region-locked.
- Your own yt-dlp settings no longer change Arroxy's downloads: a yt-dlp config file or plugin you set up for yt-dlp on its own, or a yt-dlp.conf left in your download folder, is now ignored.
- Videos added several links at a time keep more of a long title in their file name. A long-titled playlist video from Vimeo no longer fails with "File name too long".
- Embedded subtitles carry their track's name, such as "English (United Kingdom)", so players list them by name rather than by a bare language code.
- A subtitles-only download whose video has none of the chosen languages now fails and names them, instead of finishing with nothing saved. A video download says which subtitle languages the video lacks.
- The URL tab's hints, profile summary and save location show in your language instead of English.
- A profile that saves video without audio as MP4 or MKV can embed the thumbnail as cover art.
- A video-only download that could not have its sound removed now says so in the queue instead of finishing as a plain success.
- YouTube show links (youtube.com/show/…) download as the playlist they are, with its real name and every video, and Explore offers to download them.
- The file name on the Review step now has the same token buttons, preview and error messages as profiles, and Download waits until the name is valid.
- The subtitle picker names every language in the app's language, so uploaded subtitles and automatic captions no longer mix English and translated names.
- Cancelling a download on Windows now stops it right away instead of letting it finish in the background.
- The audio language list names every language in the app's language and marks the original track, instead of showing YouTube's English labels or bare language codes.
- Explore no longer shows a stale or blank page after unloading while you were away or when a page closes itself.
- The subtitle language picker in playlists and download

Highlights
- A clearer Review. Each row has an icon, settings that are on stand out from those that are off, and a dot marks what you changed from your profile. Review opens with every row folded.
- Manual and auto subtitles together. A profile can fetch uploaded and automatic subtitles of the same language side by side, and saving a download that picked both keeps both.
- Downloads fills the window. The Downloads table uses the window's full height, and on wide windows the URL tab keeps a comfortable width.
Fixes
- YouTube's automatic captions show their language name, without a confusing "(Original)".
- An automatic caption gets the same file name and track language whether you picked it or your profile did. Embedded next to uploaded subtitles of the same language, it is marked "Auto-generated".
- Long labels on Review no longer wrap in other languages.

Highlights
- Explore opens any site. Type an address or follow any link, and sign in to other sites there; downloads from those sites use that sign-in when they need it. Plain text in the address bar searches with the Search engine you pick in Settings.
- Smaller download, FFmpeg installed once. Arroxy downloads FFmpeg on first launch and keeps it across updates. If that fails, it uses your own FFmpeg, or Set it up manually installs one with Homebrew or WinGet.
- Honest about rate limits. Arroxy says when a site is rate-limiting you and waits before asking again. Try now skips the wait.
- A clearer single-video download. Continue on the Format screen leads to Review, which now holds subtitles, SponsorBlock, extras, the folder and the file name. Download is still there if you don't need Review.
- Update your profile from any download. When you change something, Format and Review show what differs from your profile, with buttons to update it, save it as a new profile, or undo.
- Switching profile keeps your edits. Arroxy asks whether to keep your changes or reset to the new profile.
- Video, no audio. The Format screen offers Video + audio, Video, no audio, Audio only and Subtitles only, like the profile editor.
- Every codec at every resolution. Each resolution lists AV1, VP9 and H.264 side by side, so you can pick H.264 even when your profile prefers AV1.
- Profiles can prefer VP9 or H.264. A new Video codec setting in the profile editor's Advanced section takes either first, without giving up resolution or HDR.
- Stream tags. The Format screen marks AI-upscaled, AI-dubbed, enhanced-bitrate, 360°, damaged and watermarked streams.
- Profiles skip AI-upscaled streams. A setting in the profile editor's Advanced section allows them.
- Arrange the Downloads table. Drag a header to move or resize its column, or use the keyboard. Reset columns in the columns menu puts them back.
- Put your profiles in order. Drag profiles on the Profiles tab, or move them with the keyboard. Every profile picker follows your order.
- Free memory while away. A new Explore setting (off by default) closes the Explore page when you leave it and restores it when you come back.
- Zoom in Explore. The zoom button in Explore's toolbar makes pages larger or smaller, and Arroxy remembers your zoom.
Fixes
- Converting to MP3, M4A, Opus or WAV uses the audio language you chose, and starts from a stream already in that format when there is one. Arroxy says when the audio is copied as it is rather than re-encoded.
- Converting a Dolby surround track to Opus no longer fails.
- Audio only downloads give an audio file on sites whose streams all carry video, such as Twitch clips and Dailymotion, instead of the whole video.
- Switching from Audio only back to video picks what your profile would, not the largest stream.
- Sizes show for sites that don't report them, such as Instagram and Facebook, and each resolution is listed once. Facebook's HD and SD files are listed separately.
- Streams without a resolution are listed as "Unknown resolution".
- Vimeo's audio streams are listed once each, by quality, instead of as identical copies.
- The "This video only goes up to…" notice no longer shows for ultra-wide videos that meet your profile's resolution.
- A playlist row assigned to a profile you later hid shows that profile, which is the one it downloads with.
- Format chip hints show the video bitrate and open as soon as you hover.
- A slow format lookup can be cancelled.
- A site whose stream list is gone no longer triggers a second lookup.
- YouTube downloads use YouTube's download token again.
- Part of video downloads show real progress, speed and time left.
- The progress bar keeps moving while the audio of a video downloads, instead of sitting near 100%.
- Downloads that use FFmpeg no longer show a stray "Merging…" label.
- Subtitles embedded into

A small release that makes sure every install hears about new versions.
Fixes
- Every install now hears about new releases. The Linux tar.gz install never checked for updates before; it now shows the update banner and sends you to the new release on GitHub. The AppImage keeps Install & Restart.
- Arroxy no longer starts a second update check while an update is still downloading.

A follow-up to 0.6.0 that keeps Aurora from freezing slow computers and makes assigning profiles in a playlist easier.
Highlights
- Assign profiles to playlist videos with checkboxes. In a playlist's per-video profile step, tick the videos you want, or use the select-all box, then click Assign to N videos. Each row's profile opens the same profile menu used elsewhere, with Edit and New. A profile you create there is assigned to the videos it was opened for.
- A Donate button. The footer has a new Donate button that shows Bitcoin, USDT (Tron) and Ethereum addresses with QR codes and a copy button for each.
Fixes
- Aurora no longer freezes slow computers. Arroxy now times its first frames and lowers Aurora's resolution to keep the app responsive, and switches to Minimal only when the graphics card still can't keep up. The light theme's Aurora is also lighter to draw, and it no longer shows a black flash or freezes for a moment the first time it appears after an update.
- Saving a profile from the playlist's per-video step no longer makes it your active profile.
- Languages with more than two plural forms, such as Russian, Ukrainian, Polish and Arabic, now show correct counts instead of falling back to English.
- The playlist scope control is now translated in every language, and every language uses one native name for Explore.
What's Changed

Highlights
- Download part of a video. In the step-by-step download, switch a video to Part and set a start and end, or pick a chapter. Exact cut trims to the precise second, but is slower. A start time in the link (t=) is offered as the start.
- A simpler step-by-step download for single videos. It's now two screens. Format comes pre-filled from your active profile and shows each stream as a chip, sorted by resolution and HDR. A pencil there edits the profile without leaving the download. Review holds subtitles, SponsorBlock, folder and file name, shows what you changed, and can save your choices as a new profile.
- Profiles that say what they're for. Pick a goal, Best picture or Smart TV, and a file type: Auto, MP4, MKV or WebM. Arroxy never re-encodes to get one. HDR now offers Auto / SDR / HDR, and Auto picks HDR only when your screen can show it. The Format screen shows each video's codec and why the profile chose it, and warns when an MP4 may not play everywhere.
- New Minimal style. Switch between Aurora and Minimal from the footer, in light or dark. Computers without graphics acceleration get Minimal automatically.
- Download straight from Explore's video grids. Right-click any video, playlist or channel link in Explore to download it with your active profile, pick another profile, open the step-by-step flow, or copy the link.
- Compact Explore. A toolbar button moves the tabs into Explore's toolbar to give the page more room.
- Remove finished downloads automatically. An optional switch next to the Downloads title clears a download from the list 5 seconds after it finishes. Your files stay on disk, and failed downloads stay in the list.
- File sizes in Downloads. A sortable Size column shows how much space each finished download takes.
- Moved or deleted files are flagged. A download whose files were moved or deleted outside Arroxy is marked Missing. The mark clears once the files are back.
- Update from the banner on Homebrew. Homebrew installs get a Run & Restart button. If you installed from the DMG and have Homebrew, the banner can switch you over while it updates.
- A fuller Mac menu bar. It now has Settings (⌘,), the download speed limit, style and theme, logs and a diagnostics file.
- One-time callouts point out features you might miss. On the Format screen, a callout explains that your profile pre-selects the formats and that its menu and pencil tune it without leaving the download; another points out Part. In Explore, one points out the right-click menu on video, playlist and channel links. Each goes away once you close it or use the feature, and never comes back.
- Feedback in your language. The feedback form now opens in the language Arroxy is set to.
- Khmer. Arroxy is now available in Khmer.
Fixes
- Explore now follows Arroxy's light or dark theme instead of your system's.
- Long audio track lists in the step-by-step download scroll properly instead of spilling over the screen.
Good to know
- Existing installs keep picking HDR first, as before. New installs start on HDR Auto.
- Profiles are saved in a new format. If you go back to an older Arroxy, it drops your custom profiles. A copy of your old settings is kept as settings.before-selection-order.json.

Arroxy now reports less: no telemetry, just one anonymous heartbeat a day.
Highlights
- No telemetry, just a daily heartbeat. Arroxy used to report failures and crashes anonymously. Now it sends only one anonymous heartbeat a day — app version, OS, language, install channel and country — so we can count how many people use it. No IDs, URLs, video titles or file names. The switch in Settings is now called Send daily heartbeat, and if you had turned reporting off, it stays off.

A small follow-up to 0.5.0 that polishes two things you see right away.
Highlights
- Release notes read properly. The "What's new" window after an update now shows bold and italic text as formatting instead of stray asterisks.
- Long audio track names fit. In the step-by-step download, a long audio track name now ends with "…" instead of being cut off mid-word, and the full name is still there when you point at it.

Arroxy now has Explore, a built-in browser tab for finding videos and signing in to YouTube when a download needs your account.
Highlights
- Explore tab. Browse YouTube inside Arroxy and download what you find without copying links. Download · your profile queues the video, playlist, or channel you're looking at with your active profile; the arrow next to it switches profiles with the same menu as the URL tab. The wand button opens the step-by-step download instead, for picking formats, subtitles, and more, and brings you back to Explore when you're done. Type or paste in Explore's address bar to open a YouTube link or search YouTube; a link from another site isn't opened in Explore, but you can download it from there. Explore is on by default and carries a "New" badge; you can hide it any time with Show the Explore tab in Settings.
- Quick Download works in the background. Quick Download on the URL tab and Download in Explore no longer hold the window while Arroxy reads the link. The link shows up in Downloads right away, a note with View confirms it, the URL field clears for the next link, and you can start more while earlier ones prepare.
- Downloads tells you what needs you. If Arroxy can't read a link, its row in Downloads explains why and offers the same fixes as before: Retry, turn cookies on and retry, open the cookie settings, or sign in in Explore. A playlist longer than your load limit waits on its row for you to pick all of it, the first ones, or a review, and a link that turns out to be a list offers a review. The Downloads tab shows how many rows are waiting for you.
- Explore picks up where you left off. After a restart, Explore reopens the last YouTube page you were on. Signing out of Explore forgets it.
- The page stays in view under menus. Opening a menu or dialog over Explore keeps a still picture of the page in place instead of a blank area, and the live page comes back when it closes.
- Downloads that need an account. Sign in once in Explore and Arroxy can download private and members-only videos your account can watch, and age-restricted videos if the account is age-verified. When YouTube asks you to confirm you're not a bot, Arroxy also tries your Explore sign-in. Arroxy downloads signed out as usual and only uses your Explore sign-in when a download fails in a way an account can fix. Each time it does, it reads the sign-in fresh, keeps it in a temporary file, and deletes the file afterwards.
- A new cookie choice. Explore sign-in joins Off, File, and Browser in the cookie settings. The first time you open Explore, it switches from Off to Explore sign-in once; if you change it later, Arroxy keeps your choice. A cookies file or browser you already set up is never switched for you. Explore sign-in is marked as recommended, and if you're signed in to Explore while downloads use something else, Explore says so. When a download needs an account and cookies are off, the failed row offers Sign in with Explore and retries by itself once you're signed in.
- Use a secondary account. Explore's first screen recommends signing in with a secondary account, because downloading with an account carries some risk of that account being restricted.
- An ad blocker for Explore. Explore blocks ads and trackers on its pages by default; downloads are unaffected, and it never acts on Google's sign-in pages. The shield in Explore's toolbar turns it off with one click, and Arroxy remembers your choice. YouTube may push back on ad blockers for signed-in accounts, so turn it off if you'd rather not risk that.
- Sign out of Explore from Settings whenever you want to forget the sign-in.
- Share moved out of the title bar. Share Arroxy from the footer or the About dialog.
- Security keys on macOS. Arroxy now declares Bluetooth use, so macOS can ask for permission when you sign in to Explore with a Bluetooth security k

Download profiles can now put the thumbnail inside your files and choose which SponsorBlock segments to handle, embedded subtitles carry every language you pick, and Arroxy finds the ffmpeg and yt-dlp installed on your system more reliably.
Highlights
- Cover art from download profiles. Turn on Embed thumbnail in a profile and its MP3, M4A, and Opus files get the video thumbnail as cover art, and its videos show it as their poster in compatible players. Until now profiles could only save the thumbnail as a separate image file.
- SponsorBlock categories per profile. A profile that marks or removes SponsorBlock segments now lets you pick which kinds: sponsors, intros, outros, self-promos, and more. Editing a profile no longer resets them to the defaults.
- Fewer failed downloads with Embed thumbnail on. Playlist and bulk downloads no longer fail when the chosen format can't hold cover art (for example "best" native audio); the option is hidden for those formats instead. A single WebM video with audio now gets its cover art too, saved as MKV.
- Embedded subtitles that actually embed, in every language. With subtitles set to Embed, each language you choose now goes inside the video as its own track that you can switch on and off in your player. Embedding used to fail for auto-generated captions and leave separate subtitle files next to the video instead, and when it did work only one language made it in. Videos with an embedded thumbnail keep their cover art too.
- A clear message for a folder Arroxy can't save to. If the download folder doesn't allow writing (missing permission, a read-only drive, or a folder macOS protects), Arroxy now says which folder is the problem before the download starts, instead of showing raw yt-dlp errors.
- More reliable fallback to your own ffmpeg and yt-dlp. When Arroxy falls back to copies installed on your system, it now reads your PATH directly instead of asking Windows' where tool. A slow or offline network drive on your PATH no longer hides the copies that are there, and a stray ffmpeg.exe or yt-dlp.exe in the folder Arroxy was started from is no longer picked up by mistake.
Under the hood
- Electron 44. Arroxy now runs on Electron 44 and its newer Chromium. Clipboard watching and the global hotkey work as before on the new clipboard API.
- An honest browser identity for YouTube tokens. The hidden window Arroxy uses to get YouTube's download tokens no longer claims to be Chrome 130 on Linux. It now reports its real platform and Chromium version, matching the rest of what it sends.
- Security fix in a bundled HTTP caching library (GHSA-ch52-4w7c-c8xp).

Flatpak users now get updates, and on Linux Arroxy's window shows its own icon.
Highlights
- Flatpak updates. Arroxy has its own Flatpak repository now. Install it in one line, which also sets up Flatpak if your system doesn't have it:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/antonio-orionus/Arroxy/main/scripts/install.sh | sh -s -- --flatpak
From then on flatpak update or GNOME Software keeps Arroxy current, and Arroxy tells you when an update is out.
- Already using the Flatpak from an older download? Run the one-line install above once. It switches your existing copy, which had no way to update, over to the new repository and keeps your settings.
- The .flatpak file on the release page now comes with updates as well.
- Linux window icon. Arroxy's window now groups with its launcher and shows its own icon, including AppImages added to the menu by AppImage integration tools.
What's Changed
- docs(readme): show one AppImage and one Flatpak command for Linux by @antonio-orionus in #249
- fix(release): let build-flatpak see the draft release by @antonio-orionus in #250

Videos that are already in your queue no longer block a whole playlist from being added.
Highlights
- When part of a playlist or link list is already in the queue, Arroxy skips those videos and adds the rest, instead of refusing the entire list.
- A short notice tells you how many videos were skipped. If everything was already queued, you get the same notice and nothing is added twice.
- Videos that already finished, failed, or were cancelled can still be queued again.
What's Changed

Playlists that list the same video more than once now download instead of failing.
Highlights
- A playlist or mix that repeats a video no longer fails with "queue item URL is already active". Each video is queued once, and the rest of the playlist downloads as normal.
- The playlist file (.m3u) and the numbering match exactly what was queued.

- The selected option is easy to spot everywhere, and switches that are off no longer look disabled.
- Light mode is easier to read, including the URL field and the tab bar.
- Section labels are larger and easier to read in non-Latin scripts.
- The format and audio lists work with the arrow keys, and screen readers announce each option.
- The language menu lists every language by its own name.

Arroxy is a much smaller app, with a round of security fixes to the code it ships.
Highlights
A Much Smaller App
- Arroxy's own files shrank from about 140 MB to 11 MB. Earlier builds carried thousands of files the app never used, including a whole developer tool, alongside the code that actually runs. Installed on a Mac, the app now takes about 70 MB less space, and downloads and updates are smaller too.
- Nothing changes in how Arroxy looks or works. The parts that run are exactly the same as before.
Security Fixes
- The bundled YAML and URL parsing libraries are updated to versions with upstream security fixes.
- Removing the unused files also removed several third-party packages with known security advisories from the app entirely.
What's Changed
- build(deps-dev): bump vitest from 4.1.10 to 4.1.11 in /packages/ytdlp-errors by @dependabot[bot] in #214
- fix(deps): stop shipping the shadcn tree and make the vulnerability gate meaningful by @antonio-orionus in #240

Arroxy can now fetch subtitles only for a whole list of videos at once, and ships a security update to its runtime.
Highlights
Subtitles Only for Playlists and Bulk Lists
- The batch quality step now offers Subtitles next to Video and Audio. Paste a list of URLs or open a playlist, pick Subtitles, choose the languages, and every item queues as a subtitle-only download — no video or audio files to delete afterwards.
- The language picker is the same searchable list as in download profiles and starts from your app language, so the common case is one click. Source (manual, auto-generated, or both), delivery (directly in the save folder or a subtitles/ subfolder), and format (SRT, VTT, ASS) are chosen in the same place.
- Steps that only make sense for media files, such as SponsorBlock and embed options, are skipped for a subtitles batch, and the queue labels each item with its languages and format.
- A built-in Subtitles only download profile joins the profile list, so Quick Download and per-item playlist profiles can fetch captions without creating a custom profile first. It starts with English; edit it to pick your languages, source, delivery, and format. Profile labels now show the languages and format for subtitle-only profiles.
Security Update to the App Runtime
- Arroxy's bundled Electron is updated to 43.7.7, which fixes four high-severity security advisories in the previous version. Downloads, sign-in with YouTube, and everything else work as before.
"Auto-generated only" Now Skips Manual Subtitles
- Choosing Auto-generated only as the subtitle source in a download profile or a subtitles batch used to behave exactly like "Manual first, then auto", so a video's manual subtitles were still downloaded. It now fetches only the automatic captions, even when a manual track exists for the same language.

Arroxy works around YouTube quietly limiting a signed-in session to 360p, and tells you when it could not.
Highlights
Full Quality When YouTube Limits Your Account
- Some YouTube accounts get only 360p even though the same video downloads at full quality without signing in. When a download with cookies would come out limited like this, Arroxy now notices before the video transfers and fetches it without cookies instead.
- If that gives the full quality, later downloads in the same session start without cookies. A video that needs sign-in, such as an age-restricted one, still falls back to your cookies.
- When YouTube still withholds the higher qualities, the download finishes and its queue row says Limited to 360p instead of looking like a normal download. Hover it for what might help.

Arroxy makes subtitle languages easy to find and keeps queue actions and settings reliable when several things happen at once.
Highlights
Find Subtitle Languages By Name
- Download Profiles now have a searchable language picker instead of a box that expects subtitle codes. Search in your app language, choose as many languages as you need, and still enter an exact code for a site-specific track.
- Choosing a base language such as German also matches regional tracks such as de-DE, while an exact regional or extractor-specific code stays exact.
- When subtitles are enabled, the profile editor now makes sure at least one language is selected before saving.
Queue Actions Stay Predictable
- Overlapping bulk actions such as pausing, resuming, or cancelling the queue no longer restart an item while another action is still working through it.
- Progress updates no longer rewrite the whole queue file several times a second, reducing synchronous disk work while downloads are active.
Settings Writes Cannot Overtake Each Other
- Rapid language and dependency-path changes are now saved in order instead of allowing a slower write to replace a newer choice.
- Dependency overrides changed during startup or another verification pass are checked afterward, and a rejected settings write restores the value the app actually has saved.
What's Changed
- feat(profiles): add searchable subtitle language picker by @antonio-orionus in #228
- fix: harden queue bulk commands and settings writes by @antonio-orionus in #229

Arroxy now speaks Korean, Italian, Polish, Persian, Thai, and Traditional Chinese, bringing the app and its documentation to 30 languages.
Highlights
Six New Complete Translations
- The full interface is now available in 한국어, Italiano, Polski, فارسی, ไทย, and 繁體中文 — including settings, downloads, profiles, playlists, errors, and update messages.
- Each new language also has its own translated README, including installation, security verification, privacy, and troubleshooting guidance.
- Persian uses the correct right-to-left layout throughout the app.
Traditional Chinese Locale Detection

Arroxy now reaches YouTube through your proxy for every step, not just the download itself, and a single button collects everything a bug report needs.
Highlights
Your Proxy Covers The Whole Download
- Before each download Arroxy loads YouTube in a hidden window to get the token YouTube asks for. That window ignored the proxy in Settings, so on a network where YouTube only opens through a proxy it failed quietly, and downloads carried on without the token. YouTube can answer those with fewer formats, so a download could come out in lower quality than the profile asked for.
- The hidden window now goes through the same proxy as the download, picks up a new proxy as soon as you change it, and signs in to proxies that need a username and password.
- A proxy typed as just host:port, without http:// in front, now works everywhere, the same way it already did for the download.
Save A Diagnostics File For Bug Reports
- Settings has a new Save diagnostics file button. It puts your logs and the app details into one file in your Downloads folder, ready to attach to a GitHub issue. Your user folder name is removed from it; video links and titles stay.
Logs That Keep What Matters
- When Arroxy has to download without YouTube's token, the log now says so, and says why.
- Progress updates no longer fill the log, and it holds five times as much before starting a new file, so the lines that explain a problem are still there when you look.
- Each log file starts with the app version, your cookie and proxy settings (password hidden) and the last token result, so it makes sense on its own.
What's Changed
- fix(yt-dlp-bridge): make unredacted output an explicit opt-in and prepare 0.3.0 by @antonio-orionus in #223
- fix(token): route the token window through the app proxy and keep its failures diagnosable by @antonio-orionus in #224

Subtitles survive titles in any language, a download stuck at 0% now recovers by itself instead of needing an app restart, SponsorBlock keeps working in mixed batches, and crashed sessions stop leaving empty folders behind.
Highlights
Subtitles For Titles In Any Language
- Videos with non-Latin titles, such as Persian, Arabic or emoji, could download their subtitles but skip the cleanup pass, so the doubled-up captions fixed in 0.4.12 came back for exactly those videos. The subtitle file was there all along; Arroxy was looking for it under a mangled name.
- File names now come through intact on every platform, including Windows consoles that could not show the characters, and on busy playlists where progress updates arrive in quick bursts.
Stuck Downloads Recover On Their Own
- A download could sit at "Downloading, 0%" for several minutes and then fail, and the only reliable cure was restarting Arroxy. It now notices the stalled server much sooner, tells you it is retrying instead of leaving the row frozen, and starts over with a fresh connection that actually reaches a working server.
- Downloads that are already moving keep their full retry budget, so a brief hiccup mid-transfer is not treated as a dead connection.
SponsorBlock In Mixed Batches
- Pasting a list that mixed YouTube links with links from another site quietly turned off SponsorBlock for the YouTube videos too. Each video now decides for itself, so the YouTube ones get their segments removed whatever else is in the batch.
No More Leftover Temp Folders
- If Arroxy was force-quit or the computer lost power mid-download, an empty .arroxy-temp folder could stay in your download folder forever. These are now cleaned up on the next launch, while anything a paused or resumable download still needs is left alone.
- On Windows the temp folder is now hidden while a download runs, instead of sitting in plain sight beside your finished videos.
What's Changed
- fix(sponsorblock): resolve the site per item, not per batch by @antonio-orionus in #218
- Subtitles: stop losing the paths we scrape from yt-dlp's stdout by @antonio-orionus in #219

Subtitles no longer stack two lines on top of each other, and installing on macOS is a single command that no longer ends at a Gatekeeper dialog.
Highlights
Subtitles Stop Doubling Up
- Automatic captions arrive from the site with each line still on screen when the next one begins, so players showed two subtitles at once for a second or two, over and over, for the whole video. Each line now ends exactly where the next one starts, and only one is ever on screen.
- Nothing about the wording changes. The pass moves timings and leaves every character of the text, along with any styling and positioning the file carries, exactly as it was.
- This used to work only for YouTube, and only when Arroxy was certain the video came from there — a mixed batch of links could leave it unsure and quietly skip the fix. It now runs for automatic captions from every site Arroxy supports, whatever else is in the batch.
One Command To Install On macOS
- brew install --cask antonio-orionus/arroxy/arroxy is now a genuine one-liner. Homebrew stopped stripping the quarantine flag on unsigned apps in 4.7, which left every install ending at a "cannot be opened" dialog; the cask now clears it itself.
- Every platform's README shows a single copy-paste command, and there is a scripted installer for Linux and macOS that checks the download against the published checksums before installing.
What's Changed
- One command per platform, and fix the macOS Gatekeeper path by @antonio-orionus in #213
- fix(subtitles): normalize overlapping cues on every site by @antonio-orionus in #217

Arroxy can order a playlist by upload date instead of whatever order the site hands over, rows that arrive nameless now fill in their real titles by themselves, and slow sites get long enough to answer before Arroxy gives up on them.
Highlights
Sort A Playlist By Upload Date
- The playlist picker gains a sort control: keep the site's own order, or reorder by upload date oldest-first or newest-first. Useful when a channel or a search hands back something closer to random than chronological.
- Sorting only changes what you see. Your ticked rows stay ticked, and nothing about a row's identity moves under it, so you can flip between orders while you pick without losing your place.
- The numbering follows what you chose. If your filename template uses the playlist index, files come out 001, 002, 003 in the order shown, counting only the rows you kept.
- Videos with no known upload date sort to the end rather than being scattered through the list.
- The upload-date options stay switched off until the dates have actually finished loading. Otherwise the first few rows to arrive would unlock a sort that quietly buried everything still waiting at the bottom of the list.
Rows That Name Themselves
- Some sites return a playlist as a bare list of links with no titles, so the picker had to show Untitled · #3 and leave you guessing. Arroxy now fetches the real titles in the background and swaps them in as they arrive, with a per-row note and an overall count so you can see it working.
- You never have to wait for it. Queue whatever you like straight away — a row whose title is still on the way is remembered as unnamed, and the real title is filled in later, so the finished file gets its proper name rather than the placeholder.
- If a title is still missing by the time the file lands, Arroxy reads it back from the downloaded file's own name.
- Leaving the picker or starting over stops the background lookups instead of letting them run on.
Slow Sites Get Time To Answer
- Loading a video's details gave up after a minute. On throttled links some sites genuinely need longer than that, so a perfectly good link failed for no visible reason. The wait is now three minutes, and a run that still times out is retried once in a simpler mode that tends to get through.
- Thumbnails served over plain HTTP were silently dropped and left a blank space. They are now requested over HTTPS and show up.
What's Changed
- feat(playlist): add upload-date sort, timestamp plumbing, placeholder title handling by @antonio-orionus in #209

Arroxy adds genuinely tiny downloads for slow or metered connections, lets you hide the download profiles you never use, and finally documents the global hotkey in the README.
Highlights
Tiny Downloads For Slow Connections
- The resolution floor was 360p, which is still a big file on a metered or very slow connection. 240p and 144p now join the profile editor's Resolution list and the playlist tier grid, so you can ask for the smallest possible file.
- Two new built-ins ship for exactly that: Low data 240p and Lowest 144p. They stay hidden until you opt in, so they cost nothing if you never need them.
- Both tiers serve H.264, so they work everywhere other tiers do.
A Profile List That Stays Out Of Your Way
- Every download profile can now be hidden. Hidden profiles disappear from every picker but stay in the Profiles tab, muted with a Hidden badge, so the catalog shows only what you actually use.
- Hiding a built-in no longer freezes its definition or marks it Modified, and Reset no longer silently brings it back.
- Safeguards keep you from stranding yourself: hiding the active profile moves you back to the default, the switch locks when one visible profile is left, and neither picking nor saving a hidden profile can leave it active.
- Profiles already on disk keep working and land visible — nothing is hidden without you asking.
README Finally Mentions The Hotkey
- The global download hotkey shipped on by default in 0.4.9 but the README never said so. It is now the leading Workflow bullet, with a light/dark screenshot showing the flow — copy a link anywhere, press Ctrl+Shift+D (Cmd+Shift+D on macOS), watch it land in the queue — translated across every supported language.
Under The Hood
- The three hand-maintained copies of the Smart TV MP4 blocked-tier set and the resolution list now derive from the shared tier enum, so future tiers cannot drift apart again.
What's Changed
- feat(profiles): add 240p/144p tiers and per-profile visibility by @antonio-orionus in #208

Arroxy gains a global shortcut that downloads whatever link you have copied without opening the app, the Linux builds start on a clean modern system without installing anything first, Vimeo OTT videos arrive with real titles, and settings no longer go missing when two changes land at once.
Highlights
Quick Download From Anywhere
- Copy a video link in your browser, press one shortcut, and Arroxy queues it with your active download profile. No window switching, no pasting. It is on from the first launch — the chord is Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + D, and you can record any other combination, switch it off, or reset to the default under Settings → Global hotkey.
- Upgrading from an earlier build keeps whatever your settings already say. The new default only applies to a profile that has never stored the setting, so if you ran a beta with the shortcut off, it stays off until you turn it on.
- If the shortcut is already claimed by another app, Arroxy says so while you are picking it rather than failing silently later.
- Every press answers you where you are looking — a native notification when Arroxy is in the background, an in-app message when it is in front. It tells you what actually happened: queued, already in the queue, nothing on the clipboard, or a link that needs a quick look first.
- The queue shows the item the moment you press the shortcut, so you get an immediate acknowledgment rather than waiting for the site to answer.
- Copy several links at once and the shortcut points you at Bulk URLs instead of guessing which one you meant.
- The main screen shows a small hint for the shortcut, so it stays discoverable instead of being a setting you turn on and forget.
The Shortcut Stops Sending You Back To The App
- Pressing the shortcut on a YouTube link that carries both a video and a playlist used to do nothing but show a notification asking you to open Arroxy and choose. It now downloads the video the link names, which is what reaching for a shortcut almost always means. If it guesses wrong, the download is in the queue straight away and can be cancelled.
- The choice is still offered where there is somewhere to offer it: paste the same link into the app and Arroxy asks whether you want the one video or the whole list.
- A YouTube radio or mix link — the kind autoplay hands you, ending in &start_radio=1 — now counts as the single video it names, everywhere in the app rather than only via the shortcut. Nothing distinguishes one from a plain video link: not the address bar, not the text you copy, not the video Arroxy shows you. There was no real playlist behind the question either, since YouTube builds a radio around the video as you watch and it comes out different every time.
- Those links now also fill in {id} in filename templates, which they previously left empty.
Copying Several Links At Once
- Copying a list of links no longer pops the bulk sheet open on its own. Arroxy hints that a multi-link clipboard is waiting and lets you decide when to open Bulk URLs — the same clipboard watch, without a window taking over the screen while you are working elsewhere.
The Linux App Starts On A Clean System
- The AppImage no longer needs FUSE. It previously refused to start on Ubuntu 24.04 and newer with dlopen(): error loading libfuse.so.2, and the fix everyone was told to run — apt install libfuse2 — no longer exists on those releases, so there was no obvious way out. The AppImage now carries everything it needs and runs as downloaded.
- Added instructions for the .tar.gz build, which had none at all despite being offered on the release page. It needs no installer and no FUSE — extract it anywhere and run it, which makes it the reliable option on an unusual setup.
- The Flatpak steps now install Flatpak and add Flathub first. Ubuntu ships Snap instead, so the old instructions assumed a command that was not there. Package-ma

Arroxy speaks Brazilian Portuguese now, starts noticeably faster, stops downloading yt-dlp three times over on a fresh install, and pausing the queue finally looks like what it is.
Highlights
Português (Brasil)
- Arroxy is now translated into Brazilian Portuguese, bringing it to 24 languages. Pick it under Settings, or let it follow your system language. Translation contributed by @tiagofreire-ia.
A Quicker, Quieter Start
- The splash screen used to sit there for a full three seconds no matter how ready Arroxy actually was. It now clears as soon as the work is genuinely done, so a normal launch feels close to instant.
- Fetching the YouTube token no longer holds up the launch. It happens quietly in the background instead, which matters most when YouTube is slow or unreachable — that case was measured holding the splash for eleven seconds, and it no longer holds it at all. If the token isn't ready in time, the first download simply fetches one then, exactly as it always could.
- Startup now records what it spent its time on. If Arroxy ever feels slow to start, the log says which step was responsible, which makes a report something we can actually act on.
- Setting up a newly released yt-dlp involves a check your operating system runs over the download, and it is genuinely slow — around fifteen seconds on the Mac this was measured on. Faster hardware barely helps, because almost none of that time is Arroxy working. Arroxy no longer interrupts that with a warning five seconds in, and no longer offers to cancel a setup that is working perfectly. If a check does run far longer than it should, Arroxy says so then.
- The button that appears when setup is struggling used to read "Cancel setup", which rather undersold it — it leads to a panel that can install yt-dlp for you or point Arroxy at a copy you already have. It now says what it does.
One yt-dlp Download, Not Three
- On a first launch Arroxy could fetch yt-dlp, stall, fetch a different build of it, stall, and fetch a third, before anything downloaded. Nothing was actually wrong with the first one. yt-dlp unpacks around a hundred files every time it runs, and the security scanner that inspects them — Gatekeeper on macOS, Defender on Windows — took longer than the 30 seconds Arroxy allowed before it gave up and assumed the component was broken. Each assumed failure bought another download that met the same scanner.
- Arroxy now separates a component that is genuinely unusable from one that is merely slow to clear your machine's security check, and stops paying for a new download in the second case. First launch on a clean install is quicker and a lot quieter.
Pausing The Queue
- Pausing all downloads used to change nothing on screen — pending items kept their normal look, so a paused queue was indistinguishable from an idle one. The queue now shows a paused banner with a "Resume queue" button, and pausing or resuming the whole queue (Cancel all included) is reflected immediately.
- The paused state survives a restart: quit with the queue paused and it comes back paused.
- Cancelling everything at the same moment you paused the queue could leave the paused banner stuck on screen while downloads quietly carried on. The queue now remembers the pause state you actually asked for and restores it correctly once the cancel sweep finishes.
- Pausing and resuming the whole queue is handled through a single code path now, so edge cases where pause states overlap behave the same way every time.
Under The Hood
- The checks that confirm Arroxy launches cleanly were rebuilt: a journey-based startup harness now runs real cold and warm starts against a previous release's profile on every pull request and nightly, replacing a cold-start test that had stopped working. No user-visible behavior change — this is what catches regressions before they reach you.
- The release checks no

A fixes release. The big one: pasting a playlist link into the bulk list no longer names every file after the link instead of the track.
Highlights
Playlist Links In The Bulk List
- Pasting a playlist, channel or search link into the bulk list now expands it into its videos, one row each, the way the main URL box already did. Before, the whole link went in as a single item and the download ran against the entire set under one name — every file came out called something like www.youtube.com_playlist [dQw4w9WgXcQ].mp3 instead of the track title.
- If your filename template had no [id] in it, this was worse than a naming problem: every video wrote to the same path, so the first one landed and the rest were quietly skipped as already downloaded. Worth checking any playlist you pulled that way against its real length.
- Some rows really are playlists rather than videos — a channel's Playlists tab, an album shelf in YouTube Music. Those now carry a "Playlist" tag, cannot be ticked, and the list tells you to paste that link on its own to download it.
Cancelling A Download
- Cancelling while a required component was still downloading took about 45 seconds to actually stop. It now stops at once. The delay was worst in exactly the situation where you would want to cancel: a connection that stalls before the download properly begins.
More YouTube Links Recognised
- Live, clip and embed links — /live/, /clip/, /embed/, and the older /v/ and /e/ players — are now understood as single videos instead of falling through as unrecognised. Links copied off an embedded player on youtube-nocookie.com work too.
- An embedded playlist player (/embed/videoseries?list=...) is correctly read as a playlist, since there is no single video behind it.
Fixes
- Windows: folder names such as COM0, LPT0, CONIN$ and CONOUT$ were rejected as reserved device names that Windows does not actually reserve, turning ordinary names into a validation error you could not get past. The list now matches Microsoft's documented one exactly.
- Windows: a playlist titled CON or NUL produced a folder Windows refuses to create, leaving the download nowhere to go. Reserved names are now escaped on the name's stem — NUL_.mp4 rather than NUL.mp4_, which was still the null device and mangled the extension for nothing.
- Long labels in segmented controls — quality tiers, formats, subtitle modes — could paint over the control beside them instead of wrapping, worst in languages whose words run longer than English. They now wrap and shrink to fit at any window size.

A small release with two changes you can see. If you have been putting off updating, the update popup now tells you what changed across every version you skipped instead of only the newest one.
Highlights
Catching Up On What Changed
- The What's New popup now shows every release you missed, not just the one you landed on. Update from 0.4.2 straight to 0.4.6 and you get all four sets of notes in one place, newest first, each under its own version heading.
- Previously the popup showed only the section for the version you just installed, so anything that changed in between went unmentioned — even though it was a single scroll away.
- If you update one release at a time, nothing changes: you see exactly one set of notes, as before.
Fixes
- Fixed the Subtitles and SponsorBlock options overlapping each other when editing a download profile. "Mark as chapters" and "Remove segments" ran together into unreadable text, as did the subtitle delivery choices, and the problem got worse in languages with longer words. Each option now sits properly inside its own box at any window size.

This release hands you three things Arroxy used to decide for you: how downloaded files are named, how much of your connection a download uses, and whether every video in a playlist has to share one setting. Heads-up on the first — filenames may look different from previous versions, because templates that were previously refused now work and non-Latin titles keep much more of their length on macOS and Windows. Failures that used to happen silently now tell you.
Highlights
Filename Templates
- You can now decide how downloaded files are named. Build a template from {title}, {uploader}, {id}, {date}, {resolution}, and {playlist_index} — for example {uploader} - {title} — and Arroxy names every download that way.
- Click a token to insert it, and see a live preview of the resulting filename before you save.
- Set one template globally, or override it for a single download profile, so an audio-only profile can name files differently from your video profiles.
- The file extension is always added for you, and long titles are still trimmed so paths stay valid on every platform.
- Tokens that don't apply simply disappear instead of leaving NA in the name — an audio download won't pick up a resolution, and a one-off video won't pick up a playlist number.
- Replaces the old "Add video ID to single filenames" switch, which is now just the {id} token.
- Heads-up: playlist "skip already downloaded" detection and .m3u playlist files both find your files by their video ID. If you remove {id} from your template, Arroxy tells you inline and turns those two features off rather than letting them quietly misbehave.
- Templates that used several tokens at once are no longer rejected. A template like {title} {id} {uploader} {resolution} {playlist_title} used to be refused as "too long" even though the names it produced were nowhere near any limit.
- Filenames are now measured the way your own system measures them. macOS and Windows count characters, Linux counts bytes — so a Japanese or Chinese title keeps roughly three times more of its length on macOS and Windows than it used to.
- Names that genuinely cannot fit are shortened instead of failing, and the video ID is never the part that gets cut, so playlist detection and .m3u files keep working.
- On Windows, Arroxy now accounts for the full path length when naming files, so downloading into a deeply nested folder no longer fails with an unhelpful error from the downloader.
Download Connections
- Arroxy can now fetch several parts of a video at once, which noticeably speeds up large downloads on a fast connection. Type a number, or leave the field empty for a single connection.
- The field suggests 4 as a good starting point. Higher values raise the chance a site rate-limits you, so it is deliberately yours to choose rather than on by default.
- This control existed before but was only reachable by switching "Gentle downloads" to Custom and editing a grid of five fields — almost nobody found it. It is now a setting in its own right, and it applies whichever pacing preset you use.
Downloads At Once
- You can now choose how many queued items download at the same time, instead of Arroxy always running one at a time. A long queue finishes considerably sooner.
- Changes apply immediately to a running queue — no restart, and nothing you have already started is interrupted. Lowering the limit simply stops new downloads from starting until there is room.
- "Pull it now" keeps working even when the queue is running at your full limit.
Retry Failed Downloads
- Arroxy can now retry a failed download on its own, waiting a little longer before each attempt. Set how many times, or leave it empty to keep deciding by hand.
- When the failure happened after the transfer had started, a retry picks up from the partial file rather than starting over. A retry that was waiting when you quit is still

The 0.4.0 stable release brings together everything from the 0.4.0 beta line: a full download-profile system, smarter audio handling, a more reliable binary runtime, stronger download recovery, and a broad UI and localization pass.
Highlights
Faster Download Workflows
Arroxy now has a download-profile system that drives quick downloads, bulk runs, and playlist submissions from one place.
- The home screen ships with built-in profiles for best available, 4K, QHD, 1080p, 720p, 480p, Smart TV MP4 variants, and audio-only downloads.
- Profiles can carry media targets, subtitles, SponsorBlock settings, embed settings, output folder rules, and per-profile subfolders. Built-in profiles can be customized and your own profiles can be added.
- Quick Download shows probe/queue progress, supports cancellation and retry, can retry with configured cookies, and reports partial success for bulk runs.
- URL intent detection distinguishes single videos, playlists, channels, search URLs, and mixed links before choosing whether to probe, prompt, or open review, and playlist-cap handling opens review when the whole playlist cannot be queued safely.
- Bulk URL parsing cleans links, filters obvious non-media files, deduplicates entries, and previews accepted/rejected rows for large paste sessions.
Smarter Audio Selection
Audio handling now favors the source's own tracks and surfaces clearer quality information.
- A new preference chooses between compatible audio and surround-first native audio, and it stays consistent from probing through presets, profiles, playlists, and quick downloads.
- Arroxy now prefers the source default or original audio track when available, and keeps Dolby/DRC tracks out of the default compatible path unless you opt into the surround preference.
- The audio format picker shows language, quality tier (high/medium/low badges with tooltips), and format details so multi-track videos are easier to choose from.
Release Notes In The App
- A What's New dialog reads the current version's changelog after an update and remembers the last version it showed, so release details no longer live only on GitHub.
Runtime And Binary Reliability
The app now relies on signed runtime metadata and Electron's bundled Node runtime instead of resolving "latest" binaries at runtime.
- yt-dlp JavaScript challenges run through Electron's bundled Node runtime, so Arroxy no longer needs Deno or a system Node install for extractor JavaScript.
- Runtime-managed binaries resolve from signed manifest entries verified with a bundled Ed25519 key, cached as last-known-good and backed by a bundled fallback index, served from a dedicated runtime-binaries release feed.
- Materialization verifies size and SHA-256, uses content-addressed cache directories, guards ZIP extraction, and probes only after a real executable exists.
- Packaged runtime smoke checks verify managed yt-dlp, Electron Node, and bundled extractor JS before normal startup, and dependency diagnostics carry clearer attempt/failure records for yt-dlp, ffmpeg, and ffprobe.
Download Reliability And Recovery
- Media retries can preserve temp data for resumable network, rate-limit, chunk-transfer, disk-space, and postprocess failures when usable media evidence exists, and retry/restart paths validate or clean up preserved temp directories.
- Progress parsing and HLS normalization no longer show misleading completed progress before a queue item is actually done.
- yt-dlp errors flow through a published error taxonomy with localized guidance, including first-class DRM-protected, login-required, and missing-dependency failures.
UI, Feedback, And Localization
- The home surface, profile picker, profile editor, queue drawer, review step, wizard navigation, warmup splash, and footer were refined for denser everyday use.
- An adaptive backdrop adds dark/light scenes with WebGL, Canvas2D, and C

This patch release switches Arroxy's release integrity model to GitHub immutable releases.
Highlights
Verified Release Assets
Arroxy now relies on GitHub's immutable release verification for published release assets.
- GitHub Release assets are locked after publish and get GitHub's release-integrity verification path.
- The release workflow still publishes stable binary filenames, updater metadata, package-manager inputs, and SHA256SUMS.
- The workflow no longer generates separate build-provenance attestations for release assets, because those are redundant for GitHub's release asset verification UI.
Release Workflow Cleanup
The publish job is smaller and easier to reason about.
- Removed the extra actions/attest step and the follow-up gh attestation verify polling.
- Removed the attestation-specific workflow permissions from the release job.
- Kept draft-first publishing, so all asset mutation still happens before immutable release publication.

This patch release refreshes Arroxy's release packaging so download links can stay stable from one version to the next.
Highlights
Stable Download Links
Release assets now use predictable platform-prefixed filenames, so the website and README can link directly to the latest Windows, macOS, and Linux binaries without needing an update for every release.
- Windows builds publish Arroxy-win-x64-Setup.exe and Arroxy-win-x64-Portable.exe.
- macOS builds publish separate Arroxy-mac-arm64.dmg and Arroxy-mac-x64.dmg files.
- Linux builds publish Arroxy-linux-x64.AppImage, Arroxy-linux-x64.flatpak, and Arroxy-linux-x64.tar.gz.
- README and GitHub Release notes now use direct Shields download badges for the main binaries.
Release Automation Compatibility
The release pipeline, package-manager updates, checksums, and artifact attestations now use the stable asset names end to end.
- Electron auto-update metadata still uses latest.yml, latest-mac.yml, and latest-linux.yml.
- Differential updates remain enabled.
- The release workflow normalizes electron-builder's AppImage x86_64 output back to the public x64 filename and rewrites latest-linux.yml before checksums.
- Scoop, Homebrew Cask, Winget, Flatpak validation, and Windows installer smoke tests all resolve the new asset names.

Notes de la versió
This release makes Arroxy faster for everyday grabbing, better for playlist triage, and more helpful when yt-dlp needs repair.
Highlights
Faster Ways To Start Downloads
Quick downloads are now easier to launch when you already know what you want.
- A new clipboard quick-download flow can pick up a copied URL and move it toward download without forcing you through the full wizard every time.
- Bulk URL downloads let you paste multiple links, hydrate their metadata, and send them into the queue together.
- Startup clipboard prompts are now gated more carefully, so Arroxy avoids interrupting launch unless there is a real action to confirm.
Playlist Scope Filters
Large playlist and channel runs now have better controls for deciding what should be probed and queued.
- Playlist scope filters let you narrow work before the item list is built.
- The playlist picker keeps scope, limit, and retry state aligned when reloading results.
- Mock scenarios and regression coverage were expanded around playlist limits, scope changes, and bulk submission paths.
yt-dlp Repair From Package Managers
When a local yt-dlp install is stale or broken, Arroxy can now guide repair through supported package-manager paths.
- The repair panel can surface package-manager repair actions for Homebrew and Winget installs.
- Binary diagnostics record the repair path more clearly, making dependency issues easier to understand.
- Startup repair and dependency checks have broader automated coverage.
Release Pipeline Hardening
The release workflow now publishes with stronger provenance and safer automation.
- Release assets are covered by GitHub artifact attestations.
- GitHub Actions workflows were hardened and the release runbook was refreshed.
- The README feature roadmap was updated across localized copies.

Notes de la versió
This release fixes the Intel Mac packaging issue and makes SponsorBlock outages non-fatal during downloads.
Highlights
Intel Mac Builds Include FFmpeg Again
The previous Intel macOS DMG could open, but it did not include the embedded ffmpeg and ffprobe binaries. Arroxy would then show ARX-004 and ask the user to pick working copies manually.
- Intel macOS packaging now resolves the requested build architecture correctly instead of falling back to the Apple Silicon runner architecture.
- The build now fails early if either embedded FFmpeg binary is missing, so a broken DMG cannot be published silently.
- The packaging logic has targeted test coverage for electron-builder's string and numeric architecture values.
SponsorBlock Outages No Longer Stop Downloads
When SponsorBlock is enabled, a temporary SponsorBlock API outage should not make the whole download fail.
- Arroxy now treats SponsorBlock lookup failures as a skipped SponsorBlock step and continues the download.
- The queue still records the skip state, so the download status remains honest without blocking the file.
What's Changed
- Ignore SponsorBlock API outages during downloads by @antonio-orionus in #51

Notes de la versió
This release turns playlist handling into a much more deliberate workflow: pick the right batch format, scan only as much as you need, skip files you already have, and keep the output folder organized as the playlist grows.
Highlights
Playlist Quality Is Now a Real Picker
Playlist downloads no longer ask you to choose from a short list of fixed presets. The batch quality step now lets you choose the media type, quality ceiling, codec preference, audio format, and bitrate.
- Video playlists can use best available codecs or prefer MP4 / H.264 for broader player compatibility.
- Audio playlists can stay native or convert to MP3, M4A, or Opus with selectable bitrates.
- Each playlist item resolves the chosen tier independently, so mixed-resolution playlists download cleanly instead of failing on one awkward entry.
- Mixed YouTube links (video + playlist) now explain the choice more clearly: download only the clicked video or open the playlist picker.
Playlist Sync Keeps Folders Tidy
Arroxy can now compare a probed playlist against the local destination folder before queueing work.
- Playlist files use stable names with the video ID included, which makes repeat runs and title changes much less messy.
- The playlist picker scans the output folder automatically and marks videos that are already downloaded.
- "Apply sync" deselects already-downloaded videos so only new items get queued.
- You can change the playlist folder from the sync alert and Arroxy keeps the output settings aligned with that folder.
- Playlist downloads can generate an .m3u file in playlist order. The file is rebuilt as items finish, so partial or resumed playlist runs still leave a useful playlist behind.
Scan Limits And Gentle Downloading
Large playlists, channels, and search results now have explicit controls instead of hidden limits.
- The URL step has a playlist scan limit picker with presets and custom values from 1 to 5000 items.
- If a playlist is capped by the current scan limit, Arroxy shows an alert right in the item picker and lets you raise the limit and re-scan.
- Network pacing presets now live in Advanced settings: Off, Balanced, Careful, and Custom.
- Balanced is the new default: it adds small request/media/subtitle waits and uses one fragment connection to reduce host pressure on heavy playlist runs.
- The queue's old fixed 3-second pause between jobs is now shorter, so normal queues feel less sluggish while pacing is handled inside yt-dlp where it matters.
More Helpful Download Feedback
Several failure and progress cases should now be less confusing.
- DRM-protected videos and login-required videos now get clearer error messages.
- SponsorBlock lookup and retry states are shown in the queue instead of looking like a stalled download.
- HLS fragment bootstrap lines no longer jump running jobs to 100% before the file is actually done.
- Resuming a paused job whose temp folder disappeared now restarts cleanly instead of trying to reuse a missing path.
- Cancelling during the subtitle phase now exits as a cancellation instead of falling through as a subtitle failure.
Smaller Workflow Improvements
- One-off downloads can include the video ID in the filename by default, with a toggle in Advanced settings.
- URL cleanup now uses the maintained @url-sanitize ClearURLs catalog and still strips pasted whitespace from wrapped links.
- Cookies setup links are easier to reach from Advanced settings.
- Output sidecar options now include .m3u playlist generation alongside description and thumbnail files.
Maintenance
- Error classification now uses the shared ytdlp-errors package instead of a local classifier.
- Probe errors now flow through a discriminated union, which makes failure handling easier to reason about.
- The browser-mock dev mode gained a scenario gallery, test knobs, and browser coverage for playlist states.
- CI and dependency maintenance landed across Bun, Node, Vitest matcher types, setup-node, setup-bun, CodeRabbit, and release notifications
0.3.6 23 de maig del 2026 — 64 bits EXE (NSIS)
Notes de la versió
This release is all about big playlists. If you ever pasted a 290-video URL and watched Arroxy slowly chew through it while the UI lagged behind, this one is for you.
Highlights
Large playlists no longer drag the UI
Queueing hundreds of items used to push the renderer multiple seconds behind the actual download state. With a 290-video playlist, the drawer would still show "downloading Ep. 4" while yt-dlp was already on Ep. 7.
- Progress events from yt-dlp are now coalesced on the main side at 10 Hz per job. Transitions (started, completed, merging, failed) still fire immediately — only the lossy "downloading X.X%" stream is throttled.
- Queue updates arriving in the renderer are now batched per animation frame. Updates, additions, and removals coming in the same frame merge into a single state mutation and one React commit.
- The queue drawer is now virtualized. Only the rows in view (plus a small over-scroll buffer) mount in the DOM. Drawer scroll stays smooth at any queue size.
"Cancel all" + "Clear" go from minutes to a blink
Cancelling and clearing a 290-item queue used to take a full minute in the worst case. Each item triggered its own disk write and its own re-render.
- Bulk cancel and bulk clear now persist the queue file once at the end of the sweep, not per item.
- The renderer applies all the removals in one pass per animation frame.
End-to-end, clearing a 290-item queue is now under a second.
Full YouTube playlist enumeration
Probing a YouTube playlist now returns all entries (up to the configured cap), not the first 100.
- We were sending a visitor_data token alongside the YouTube tab extractor probe, which silently capped tab pagination at one innertube page (100 entries) regardless of --playlist-end. Symptom: "can't fetch more than 100 videos."
- Probes no longer need PoT/visitor_data — they only fetch metadata, not streaming URLs — so we skip that path entirely for probes. Non-web clients (android/ios) provide the format JSON without it.
Smarter URL paste
URLs pasted from word-wrapped terminals, chat bubbles, or PDF viewers often arrive with a newline or stray space mid-link. Arroxy now cleans those up before parsing.
- A line break injected mid-playlist-ID no longer turns into %20 and mangles the URL.
- Tabs, CRLFs, and literal spaces all get stripped at paste time.
- Already-encoded %20 sequences (legitimately part of a path) are left alone.
No more accidental double-submit
Submitting a 290-entry playlist takes a perceptible moment while Arroxy builds and ships the queue items. Mash the button twice and you used to end up with duplicates.
- The "Add to queue" and "Pull it" buttons are now disabled while the submission is in flight.
- A guard at the function level catches double-fires from keyboard shortcuts too.
Smaller stuff
- Error messages in the queue drawer now stay on a single line and reveal the full text in a tooltip on hover. Keeps the queue density tight even when something blows up verbosely.
Maintenance
- Internal IPC seam now has a single chokepoint for the bulk-write guard, so future bulk operations (think: future import-from-file) get the perf optimization for free.
- Dropped the shadcn ScrollArea wrapper specifically for the queue drawer — the virtualizer needed direct access to the scroll element. Other ScrollArea usages elsewhere in the app are unchanged.

Notes de la versió
This release tightens resume reliability for tricky sites and adds the speed-limit control a lot of you have asked for.
Highlights
Per-Job Speed Limits
You can now cap how fast Arroxy downloads, so background jobs do not steal your whole connection.
- New rate-limit picker in the wizard and in the queue drawer, with presets like 500K, 2M, 5M plus a custom value.
- Limits are validated before they are sent to yt-dlp, so typos do not silently get ignored.
- A small inline hint explains that an in-flight download needs Pause + Resume to pick up a new limit.
More Trustworthy Resume
Big or fiddly downloads now survive interruptions a lot better.
- Resumed downloads reuse cached metadata from the original spawn instead of re-extracting on every retry. Sites with short-lived signed URLs, shifting HLS/DASH format IDs, or session-bound cookies (PornHub being a notable one) no longer trip the "Requested format is not available" error on resume.
- The fix is invisible: Arroxy writes a small info file into the preserved temp folder on the first run, and the next spawn picks it up automatically.
Smoother Queue
A big rewrite under the hood of the download queue makes state transitions cleaner and progress reporting more accurate.
- The ETA (estimated time left) shown on active downloads is finally honest — it now reflects current throughput instead of an averaged-since-start figure.
- Internal telemetry around the queue was tightened so error categories and lifecycle events line up consistently.
- Small visual polish on the queue drawer, queue items, and the confirm + URL-input wizard steps.
Security
- Closed two high-severity advisories pulled in transitively through ajv by overriding fast-uri to a patched version. No user action needed.
Maintenance
- Dependency refresh across the board: Electron, electron-builder, i18next, Tailwind Merge, Playwright, Vite, Vitest, plus a sweep of GitHub Actions versions.
- The marketing site moved to its own repository (antonio-orionus/arroxy-web); the app repo is leaner now.

Notes de la versió
Arroxy 0.3.4 is the release where Arroxy grows up from a YouTube-focused downloader into a much wider, smoother tool for everyday saves. Paste a link, pick what you want, and let the queue do the boring parts.
Highlights
YouTube + 2000+ Sites
Arroxy now works with the wider yt-dlp ecosystem, not just YouTube. That means links from Vimeo, Twitch, Reddit, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and thousands of other supported sites can go through the same friendly wizard.
- Paste any supported video or audio link, including links picked up by clipboard watch.
- Music-first sites open in the right flow automatically, so you do not have to fight empty video options.
- Built-in-audio formats now default to “Keep as-is” instead of accidentally adding duplicate audio.
- YouTube channel links, playlists, Shorts, Music, and mixed video/playlist URLs are handled more deliberately.
- Tracker-heavy URLs are cleaned before probing, so shared links are less messy.
Faster Wizard Flow
Getting to the download button takes fewer clicks now.
- New “Skip to confirm” button lets you jump straight from format selection to the final screen using your saved preferences.
- Subtitle selection is easier to skip when you just want the video.
- Saved YouTube preferences stay scoped to YouTube, so choices from one site do not leak into another.
- The app is clearer when a site requires cookies, sign-in, or a different link.
Better Queue Control
The queue is easier to pause, resume, and trust.
- Pause all active downloads from the drawer header.
- Resume paused downloads directly from the drawer when you are ready.
- Quit dialog now offers “Pause Downloads & Quit,” so closing the app does not have to mean throwing progress away.
- Paused downloads keep more resume context, making interrupted video downloads more dependable.
- Queue state now lives in the main process, which makes progress, pause, cancel, retry, and restart behavior steadier.
More Reliable Downloads
A lot of this release is about making failure less mysterious.
- Large or unstable downloads get stronger retry behavior for broken chunks and interrupted streams.
- Low disk space is detected and explained before it turns into a confusing failure.
- Error messages are clearer for unsupported URLs, rate limits, geo blocks, network failures, sign-in/cookie problems, post-processing failures, and yt-dlp parser drift.
- Non-YouTube sites skip YouTube-only token work, which keeps probes lighter and less noisy.
Platform Fixes
This release also tightens install and startup behavior across desktop platforms.
- macOS packaging was hardened, especially around Apple Silicon builds and bundled media tools.
- Windows startup and packaged-build behavior got more resilient, with extra checks for cold-start failures.
- Release automation now catches more broken builds before they reach users.
Nice New Touches
- New About dialog with quick links and license details.
- New Share dialog, because Arroxy is free and open-source and a little easier to pass along now.
- Small UI polish across the drawer, wizard, update banner, dialogs, and startup flow.
