1.9.7 (2026-10-23)
🩹 What's new in v1.9.7
WaveFlow starts again on Ubuntu 24.04 and other Linux distributions with compatible glibc versions.
🐧 Linux
- The Linux downloads start again on Ubuntu 24.04, Linux Mint 22.x, Zorin OS 18, Pop!_OS 24.04 and Debian 13. The 1.9.6 AppImage, .deb, .rpm and AUR package were built on a newer system and required glibc 2.43, so WaveFlow failed at launch on these distributions with version 'GLIBC_2.43' not found. 1.9.7 is built on Ubuntu 24.04 again and requires no newer than glibc 2.39, like 1.9.5. Every release now checks that compatibility floor before publishing. COPR and Flathub were not affected. (#939)
1.9.7 also carries the 1.9.6 playback fix: tracks play all the way to the end before the next one starts.
On Linux, the in-app updater stopped offering 1.9.6 once the compatibility problem was found. AppImage users still on 1.9.5 will therefore update directly to 1.9.7.
If your AppImage already updated to 1.9.6 and no longer starts, download the 1.9.7 AppImage below and replace the old one. Your library and settings are kept.

1.9.6 (2026-10-22)
🩹 What's new in v1.9.6
Tracks now play to their very last second before the next one starts.
🎧 Playback
- The end of a track is no longer cut off. When another track followed, WaveFlow moved on as soon as it had read the end of the file rather than once you had heard it, so up to about a second at the end of every track was dropped. It was most noticeable on fade-outs, live recordings and albums meant to flow into each other. WaveFlow now waits for the audio output to play the whole track out before moving on, even if you pause or jump back with an A-B loop during those last moments, and gapless transitions now keep the full tail of the outgoing track instead of cutting it short. 1.9.5 (2026-10-19)
🩹 What's new in v1.9.5
Lyrics and playlist files saved in encodings other than UTF-8 now open correctly.
🎤 Lyrics
- Lyrics files in encodings other than UTF-8 now show up. A .lrc or .txt next to a track was read as UTF-8 only, so lyrics saved as GB18030 (common with Chinese Windows tools), Big5, Shift_JIS, EUC-KR or an older Windows code page were silently skipped. WaveFlow now detects the file's encoding and reads it, for lyrics found next to the track as well as for Import an LRC file. Tracks that already showed "no lyrics" pick up their lyrics file the next time you open them, with nothing to clear. (#917, closes #910)
📚 Library
- Legacy-encoded .m3u playlists now import correctly. A .m3u saved in a Chinese, Japanese or Korean encoding gave paths that matched nothing in the library. It is now decoded the same way as a lyrics file. (#917)

1.9.4 18 ኦክቶበር 2026 — 64-bit MSI64-bit EXE (NSIS)
የልቀት ማስታወሻዎች
1.9.4 (2026-10-18)
🩹 What's new in v1.9.4
More reliable exclusive playback, FLAC files that end properly, and a way to keep the mini-player on top under Wayland.
🎧 Playback
- No more crackling in exclusive mode while the interface is busy. On Windows, with WASAPI exclusive output, opening the immersive view could make the sound crackle for a few seconds. The thread that feeds the device now runs as a Windows "Pro Audio" task, so it keeps priority over the interface. (#889)
- Following a track's sample rate no longer reopens the output twice. With the output set to match each track's sample rate, WaveFlow could close and reopen the device twice at a track change. It now keeps the current output when it can, and reopens it only when the requested rate actually changes. (#891)
- FLAC files with a few stray bytes after their last frame now end normally. Such a file played to the end, then showed "cannot play this track", and the queue stopped there. WaveFlow now treats it as the end of the track and moves on; a file that is really cut short is still reported. And pressing Play on a track that had stopped in its last two seconds now starts it over instead of failing again at the very end. (#899, closes #898)
📚 Library
- The playing row turns green again after a double-click. With double-click to play, the row you started stayed blue (selected) instead of green (now playing). Playing a row now clears the selection its own click made, in the library, album and playlist views. (#900, closes #897)
🐧 Linux
- New setting: Run through XWayland. Native Wayland does not give WaveFlow a reliable way to keep a window always on top or restore its absolute position, so the mini-player's pin and the desktop lyrics' placement may not hold. Settings → Appearance → Player and window → Run through XWayland restores those behaviours through X11 compatibility. It is off by default, since text can look slightly less sharp with fractional scaling, and takes effect at the next start. A GDK_BACKEND you set yourself still wins, and links opened from WaveFlow don't pass the setting on to your browser. (#896, #901, closes #894)

A scan no longer leaves out a track the player can play.
📚 Library
- Tracks with unreadable tags are no longer left out of the library. A scan used to skip an MP3 whose tags it couldn't read ("failed to parse Mpeg file"), even though the file played fine. WaveFlow now works out the format from the file's content rather than its extension, so an AAC saved as .mp3 is read correctly. It also reads a damaged tag leniently. If the tags still can't be read but the audio plays, the track is added anyway, titled after its file name, with what the decoder reports. The log now gives the exact reason a file was refused, not just the fact that it was. (#874, closes #873)

1.9.2 (2026-10-16)
🩹 What's new in v1.9.2
Two more refinements to track lists: no stray focus ring, and no checkbox under the mouse.
📚 Library
- No more green frame around a track you clicked. After clicking a track, pressing any key — a digit, a letter, an F-key, or a desktop shortcut such as Super+Q under Hyprland — drew a focus frame around the row, and so did leaving the window and coming back. A row you click with the mouse now stays as it was; keyboard navigation with Tab and the arrows still shows where you are. (#868, #871, closes #866)
- No checkbox under the mouse. Hovering a track no longer swaps its number for a checkbox, in every list and in both click modes. Start a selection with Ctrl or Shift + click, or Ctrl+A, and the checkboxes appear on every row. (#868, closes #867)

1.9.1 (2026-10-15)
🩹 What's new in v1.9.1
A small patch for the track checkboxes introduced in 1.9.0: clicking a track works the way it did before.
📚 Library
- A click no longer turns the list into checkboxes. In 1.9.0, clicking a track, including the first click of a double-click to play it, swapped every row's number for a checkbox. A plain click now just highlights the row again. Checkboxes take over the list only when you actually start a selection, with Ctrl or Shift + click, Ctrl+A, or a checkbox. Pressing Escape to clear a selection no longer leaves an outline around the row you clicked. (#860, closes #859)
- With single-click play, a click anywhere on a row plays it. The checkbox no longer appears where the track number is when you hover a row, so it cannot catch a click meant to start the track. Start a selection with Ctrl or Shift + click, or Ctrl+A. (#862)

የልቀት ማስታወሻዎች
1.9.0 (2026-10-15)
✨ What's new in v1.9.0
WaveFlow 1.9.0 — built around what you listen to. Home now builds mixes from your favourite genres, decades and artists; mood radios listen to your corrections; your listens can go to ListenBrainz; and a long list of everyday details got faster to reach, from keyboard shortcuts to a sidebar that folds down to icons.
Most of what is here was asked for by people using WaveFlow every day. Still local-first — online services stay optional.
🎧 Mixes made for you
- Genre, decade and artist mixes join Daily Mix and On Repeat on Home: one mix for each genre and each decade you play most, and one for each of your top artists, built with the artists you listen to alongside them. (#841, #846)
- A Daily Mix is no longer one artist on repeat: each artist gets a fair share of the mix. (#847)
- Keep a mix as a regular playlist before it refreshes, and save the play queue as a playlist in one click. (#834)
🌙 Mood radio that listens to you
- Sleep is quiet again. Fast tracks misread at half speed no longer slip through, and tracks measured as loud are left out, so Sleep keeps to tracks that actually fit. (#848)
- Put a track into a mood, or take it out. Right-click any track → Moods. Tracks you add come first; tracks you remove stay out. The sliders button next to Mood radio on Home lists your changes, one tab per mood, each one undoable. (#849)
📚 Library
- Several genres per track, read from your files and written back by the tag editor. (#840, closes #729)
- A Years tab, grouped by decade, with a page for each year. (#839)
- "The Beatles" sorts under B. Artists and albums are sorted without their leading article (The, Les, L'…). You can turn it off in Settings → Library. (#838)
- Tag edits stick. A change of case or punctuation to an artist, album or genre now shows, and editing a track keeps its other credited artists. In the Flatpak, WaveFlow can now write to your Music folder. (#831)
- Artists joined by Chinese or Japanese commas (、, ,) are offered for splitting too. (#857, closes #851)
- Scanning a network share shows the folder being read and the files found while WaveFlow is still listing it, and Stop now works during that stage too. (#853)
🖥️ Interface
- The sidebar folds down to icons. The sidebar button now steps through full, icons only, and hidden. (#850)
- The rest of the album appears in the Now Playing panel when the queue goes on through the current album, each remaining track one click away. The artist's biography now comes last. (#852, closes #423)
- Share a playlist or an artist as an image: a Share button on their pages saves or copies a card with its artwork, details and first tracks. (#854)
- Keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+K to search, with your recent searches; F11 for fullscreen; Ctrl+A to select every track in a list, with checkboxes on the rows. Ctrl+K and F11 can be changed in Settings → Keyboard shortcuts. (#830, #832)
- Play next and Add to queue confirm what they did, so a track no longer gets queued twice by accident. (#833)
- A motion cover you set yourself is now marked as such in the cover picker. (#847)
🎤 Lyrics
- Multilingual LRC lines light up together: lines that share a timestamp (an original and its translation) now highlight as one. (#827, closes #821)
- Lyrics written as original^translation are read as a line and its translation. (#847)
- Desktop lyrics: an adjustable outline width, an option to hide them while paused, and a progress bar. (#837, closes #814)
- The immersive view can hide its lyrics column when a track has none. Off by default; turn it on in Settings → Immersive view. (#829, closes #794)
▶️ Playback
- Your computer stays awake while music plays, so an idle timer no longer suspends it mid-album. It never blocks a sleep you ask for, and you can turn it off in Settings → Playback. (#835)
- When exclusive output is refused, WaveFlow says why — the device is in use by another app, exclusive mode is not allowed in your system settings, or the format i

የልቀት ማስታወሻዎች
1.8.4 (2026-10-09)
🩹 What's new in v1.8.4
A patch for skins and the library: less memory pressure on Linux, stable album and artist covers on hover, clearer playlist cards and track lists, and album years that keep up with your tags.
🎨 Skins
- A skin can no longer lock you out. If WaveFlow closes unexpectedly on Linux while a non-Studio skin is active, the next launch opens in Studio, the safe baseline skin, and tells you why. A --safe-mode flag does the same by hand, and none of your other settings are reset. (#823)
- Lounge and Liquid use less memory on Linux. The two glass-heavy skins could create very large compositing surfaces under WebKitGTK. WaveFlow now disables the most expensive fullscreen blur and continuous effects there, while keeping navigation surfaces opaque and readable. (#820)
📚 Library
- Album and artist covers stay still on Linux. Moving the pointer over a cover could make the whole grid tremble under WebKitGTK. Both grids now stay in place, and the add-to-playlist button appears once instead of briefly flashing twice or lingering on the previous cover. (#825)
- Playlist cards and track lists fit their skins. In Pulse, Liquid and Lounge, playlist titles and counts now have room inside their cards, column resize handles no longer show as coloured squares, and hovering a track highlights that row instead of lifting the whole table. Selection stays visible in Lounge too. The track table also keeps its rounded corners in Studio, without clipping menus or losing its sticky header. (#826)
- Album years refresh when you rescan. A year you had corrected, or one that was missing, did not always survive a rescan, and two tracks disagreeing on the year could flip it depending on scan order. The album year now comes from the first track in order, stays stable across rescans, and is recalculated when tracks move between albums. (#818)

1.8.2 5 ኦክቶበር 2026 — 64-bit EXE (NSIS)64-bit MSI
የልቀት ማስታወሻዎች
1.8.2 (2026-10-05)
🩹 What's new in v1.8.2
A patch focused on correctness. Exclusive output is now truly bit-perfect, your listening history keeps the last song before you quit, accented names sort where you expect them, and lyrics apps on Linux can follow along again.
🎧 Audio
- Exclusive output is now truly bit-perfect. In exclusive mode (WASAPI on Windows, ALSA on Linux), every 16-bit and 24-bit sample came out off by one step from the file, so the stream was close to the original but not identical. It now matches the file sample for sample. macOS was not affected. (#802)
- The bit-perfect badge takes the volume into account. Lowering the volume changes the samples, so the audio pipeline popover no longer calls the stream bit-perfect below 100 %. It shows a "volume" step instead. (#802)
📚 Library
- Accented names sort with their letter. "Émilie Simon" used to land after "Zazie", at the very end of the list, while the A–Z rail filed her under E. Artists, albums, tracks and genres now sort with case and accents set aside, Czech, Romanian, Polish and Vietnamese letters included. A library that mixes local files and a WaveFlow Server also keeps both copies of an artist side by side. (#805)
- Shift+click works right after clearing a selection. It used to select nothing until you clicked a first track again. (#804)
- A library created for you is named in your language, instead of always "Ma musique". (#804)
📊 Stats & history
- The last song before you quit now counts. A track you had been listening to for 15 seconds or more when you closed WaveFlow, or quit from the tray, never reached your history, your stats or Last.fm. It is now saved on the way out. (#806)
🎤 Lyrics, playlists & radio
- Unsynced LRC files show as plain lyrics. Some LRC files stamp every line at the same time, often 00:00. They were treated as synced, so the whole song sat on the first line. They now display as plain text. Enhanced LRC with word timings stays synced. (#804)
- Smart playlists left the "Add to playlist" menus. A smart playlist rebuilds itself from its rules, so a track added by hand disappeared at the next refresh. Only regular playlists are offered now. (#804)
- Offline radio tags with % or _ now match literally instead of acting as wildcards. (#804)
🐧 System integration
- playerctl position follows playback on Linux. The position WaveFlow reports to MPRIS stayed frozen at the start of the track, so lyrics apps such as sptlrx never moved. It now updates every second while playing. (#807)
⚡ Performance
- Smoother while playing. The playback position updates four times a second, and each update used to redraw the whole interface, the library included. Now only the parts that show the position redraw. (#809)

1.8.1 (2026-10-05)
🩹 What's new in v1.8.1
A small patch on top of 1.8.0. It fixes a menu you could not scroll and keeps beta users up to date.
🐛 Fixes
- Long menus scroll again. In a track's right-click menu, the "Add to playlist" list closed as soon as you scrolled it, so you could not reach the playlists further down. Scrolling inside a menu now keeps it open. Scrolling the page still closes it. (#795)
- The beta channel now gets stable releases too. If you opted into betas, the updater used to stay on the last beta even after a newer stable version was out. It now offers whichever is newer, the latest beta or the latest stable. (#793)
- Clearer logs for motion covers. When an album's animated cover is one you set by hand, the diagnostic log now says so. Before, nothing was logged, and the cover looked as if a plugin had supplied it. (#797)

1.8.0 (2026-09-30)
✨ What's new in v1.8.0
WaveFlow 1.8.0 — every word, every detail. Lyrics now follow you everywhere, highlighted word by word and floating on your desktop; exclusive output now works across Windows, Linux and macOS; your playlists take their colours from their covers; and WaveFlow talks to the rest of your setup, from MPD clients to your own server.
Our biggest release yet: 119 issues closed, most of them reported by people who took the time to tell us what they hit. Still 100% local-first.
🎧 Your audio hardware, properly used
- Exclusive output on all three systems — WASAPI on Windows, ALSA on Linux, CoreAudio on macOS. WaveFlow can take the sound card for itself, for ordinary playback as well as DSD.
- DSD over PCM (DoP) sends the original DSD stream to a compatible DAC without converting it to PCM first. It ships switched off — turn it on under Settings → Playback and audio if you own the hardware.
- The output device menu tells the truth: what each device actually accepts, and which one really opened rather than the one that was asked for. When playback has to drop out of exclusive mode, you are told.
- ReplayGain, done properly — album gain, a pre-amp, a fallback level for untagged tracks, and clipping prevention, all adjustable.
- Opus and AIFF are now supported.
- WaveFlow remembers where you were: the resume point is saved on exit and as you listen.

🎤 Lyrics, everywhere you look
- Floating desktop lyrics — a window that sits above everything else, so the words are there while you work. Resizable from any side, one line or two.
- Karaoke that highlights word by word, and when a provider only gives line timings, WaveFlow estimates the timing of each word itself — so the karaoke runs on almost any synced lyrics.
- Lyrics in the mini-player too, with the same word-by-word karaoke as the immersive view, the lyrics panel and the floating window.
- Romanization puts a readable line under Japanese, Korean and Chinese lyrics, and translations sit alongside the original.
- Backing vocals, duets and instrumental breaks — backing vocals sit under the line they belong to, the second voice of a duet answers from the other side, both lines stay lit while two voices overlap, and three dots breathe through the instrumental parts.
- Held notes ripple through their letters in the immersive view, stronger the longer the note is held. You can switch it off.
- Pick a lyrics plugin by hand from the lyrics source menu, and plugins now get the album, the track's length and its ISRC, so they find the right recording rather than a namesake.
- A colour for the line being sung — one of eight pastels, or a rainbow that moves to the next colour with every line.
- Calmer on the network: a track with no lyrics stops re-searching every time you open it, you can switch off any provider you don't want, and whole genres can be skipped.

🎨 Your library, brought to life
- Playlists take their colour from their cover — the header is built from the artwork, or you pick the colour yourself and it stays.
- Canvas plays a short looping clip in place of the cover while a track is on, in a frame shaped for it.
- The immersive view puts it all together: artwork, clip, and lyrics synced to the word.
- Artist pages get a full-width backdrop you can choose.
- The mini-player keeps up with all of it: Canvas clips, the cover slideshow, and a volume slider with mute.
- A high-contrast mode that works across every theme and skin.

1.7.0 (2026-07-26)
✨ What's new in v1.7.0
WaveFlow 1.7.0 — living artwork & extensibility. Album covers now come alive with Apple-Music-style motion art, a new in-app plugin store lets you add features in one click, and bit-perfect audio on Windows (WASAPI Exclusive) is finally rock-solid. Add a big polish pass across lyrics and the library, plus a full native-speaker review of all 17 languages. Still 100% local-first — nothing leaves your machine.
🎞️ Album covers that move
Albums can now come alive. WaveFlow shows animated covers behind the now-playing view, Apple-Music-style. They're found automatically by the new Apple Motion Artwork plugin — or you can set your own motion cover (a local .mp4) on any album's page. Prefer to keep them offline? Flip on the optional local cache. Albums without motion art simply show their normal cover, exactly like before.

🧩 A plugin store
Extend WaveFlow without leaving the app. The new plugin store (Settings → Plugins) installs curated plugins in one click, each verified before it lands. This release ships two official plugins — Web Radio (30 000+ stations) and Apple Motion Artwork — and plugins can now offer their own settings panel.

👤 Tidier artist pages
- Collapse the biography with one click, so the discography comes first.
- Split a merged artist — libraries that joined names with commas (e.g. "Artist A, Artist B") can now be split apart in place, no re-tagging your files.

───────────────────────────────────────────────
🖱️ Right-click, everywhere
The full track menu — Show in Explorer, Properties, add to playlist or queue, like… — now works when you right-click the title in the immersive view or a row in the play queue. These spots used to do nothing.
🎧 Better audio on Windows
A big chunk of this release hardened WASAPI Exclusive — bit-perfect output that bypasses the Windows mixer for the cleanest possible sound:
- the toggle now reliably turns on and off,
- the progress bar and lyrics stay perfectly in sync while it's active,
- it picks the right format for your device (yes, even 7.1 setups), and
- it recovers gracefully if your audio device drops out or resets.
🎤 Lyrics
- New "Prefer LRCLIB" toggle if you'd rather pull online lyrics before embedded ones.
- Stronger synced-lyrics support — read first, and preserved when you edit.
- Static lyrics now scroll all the way to the end in the immersive view.
- A provider hiccup is no longer remembered as "no lyrics, forever."
📚 Library & scanning
- Deep-rescan a single folder on demand.
- The scan progress toast now shows which folder it's working through.
- Give any genre its own picture.
- Your listening history survives even if you later delete the tracks behind it.
- Resetting the app now safety-backs-up every profile first, just in case.
🎨 Polish & fixes
- Similar artists no longer show grey placeholder photos.
- All 17 languages got a full native-speaker review pass.
- Right-click menus now appear above the player bar (no more menus hiding behind it).
- The main window stops creeping bigger on every launch and remembers where you left it — plus a new "Reset window position" action in Settings → Appearance.
- Fixes for the GNOME/Wayland title bar, the startup splash screen, and assorted text/layout clipping.

የልቀት ማስታወሻዎች
1.6.0 (2026-06-29)
✨ What's new in v1.6.0
WaveFlow 1.6.0 — radio & robustness. The Web Radio plugin that shipped as a tech demo in 1.5.0 is now a full listening surface: live now-playing, artwork, lyrics, favorites, country browsing, and a fully offline station catalogue. Under the hood, the audio engine gained four robustness upgrades, the fullscreen experience was rebuilt into one immersive panel, and the first library scan is now ~4× faster. Still 100% local-first — nothing leaves your machine.
📻 Web Radio, fully grown (#289)
From "it plays a stream" to a real listening experience:
- Live now-playing — ICY stream titles become the current song, with the station identity (name · genre/country) on its own line, everywhere: PlayerBar, immersive view, mini-player.
- Album artwork — the Artist – Title resolves a cover from Deezer and replaces the station favicon. A stale fetch can never overwrite a track that already moved on.
- Lyrics per song — pulled live from LRCLIB as each track changes, rendered statically (a stream has no timeline to sync to).
- Favorites — one ★ on the PlayerBar, mini-player and immersive view, shared across all three so they never drift. Per profile.
- Browse by country — alongside the existing genre / top / search filters.
- Works offline — download a snapshot of the ~35 000-station directory (Settings → Data) and search it with zero network. Same queries, no connection. Used automatically in offline or local-first mode.
- Mini-player catch-up — a mini-player opened mid-stream now shows the live station, not a stale library track.
Web Radio — live now-playing, favorites, country browse
🎚️ Audio robustness
Four engine upgrades focused on never dropping or mangling a sample:
- Sharper DSD → PCM — choose the conversion quality (256 / 1024 / 2048 taps) in Settings → Playback. More taps = cleaner sound at a higher CPU cost. DSD only.
- Smoother network playback — files on a remote/SMB share are loaded fully into RAM (up to 512 MiB) and decoded from memory, so high-latency links no longer cause stutter.
- Proper surround downmix — 5.1 / 6.1 / 7.1 and beyond now fold down to stereo correctly (ITU-R BS.775) instead of silently dropping channels.
- Clip protection — the final stage guards the DAC against hard clipping while leaving a clean stream untouched (bit-perfect output preserved).
🖼️ Immersive view — one fullscreen panel (#328)
The old "fullscreen now-playing" and "fullscreen lyrics" overlays are now a single immersive view:
- Merged mode (opt-in) — cover + controls on the left, a tabbed panel on the right that flips between Lyrics and Queue, so you can manage what's next without leaving.
- Classic mode (default) — the familiar now-playing view, with a one-tap jump to fullscreen lyrics. Unchanged.
- Native OS fullscreen (opt-in) — a true borderless, Spotify-style takeover.
Both are per-profile (Settings → Appearance). Narrow windows fall back to classic automatically.
🔤 Scrolling long titles
Titles that don't fit now glide back and forth instead of being cut off, in the PlayerBar and immersive view. Respects prefers-reduced-motion, and you can turn it off in Settings → Appearance.
🔎 Smarter search & stats
- Sectioned search (#321) — the top-bar dropdown now splits results into Artists, Albums and Titles, each linking straight to its detail view.
- Top genres (#324) — a new Statistics card ranking your genres by listening time, included in the JSON export.
- Hideable KPIs (#324) — hide any stat card you don't care about (Settings → Appearance), saved per profile.
👤 Artist & metadata
- Offline artist overrides (#323) — write your own bio and pick your own "similar artists" per artist. They work fully offline and survive every enrichment pass. Edit from Artist Detail → "Edit info".
- TheAudioDB bios — pick TheAudioDB (multi-language) instead of Last.fm as your bio source in Settings → Integrations.

1.5.1 20 ጁን 2026 — 64-bit EXE (NSIS)64-bit MSI
የልቀት ማስታወሻዎች
1.5.1 (2026-06-20)
WaveFlow 1.5.1 — Bug-fix patch
First patch on top of 1.5.0. Mostly quality-of-life fixes around the lyrics waterfall, the library analyzer, and a couple of UI regressions that landed with the skin system.
Thanks to @jo-el414 for reporting #279, #280, #281, #284, and #286.
🎤 Lyrics — saner waterfall + manual override
The auto-waterfall (LRCLIB → NetEase → Megalobiz → Genius) used to surface a couple of failure modes:
- Genius pages sometimes shipped only the page header "N ContributorsTitle Lyrics" instead of actual lyrics, and the parser dumped that artifact verbatim.
- The source badge always said LRCLIB regardless of which provider actually responded, so a Genius-cached bad result looked like a LRCLIB bug.
- No way to recover: "Clear + Refetch" just re-ran the same waterfall and landed on the same hit.
1.5.1 fixes all three:
- The Genius parser now strips the N Contributor(s)<title> Lyrics header and treats stub catalogue pages (header only, no transcribed body) as a miss so the next provider gets a turn.
- The lyrics source badge shows the actual provider that answered (LRCLIB, Genius, NetEase, Megalobiz, Musixmatch).
- Click the badge to open a picker: pick any of the five providers and the lyrics re-fetch from that one only. The miss / hit / re-pick cycle lives entirely in the panel.
Plus a few quieter fixes: the picker closes on Escape, and switching tracks during a refetch or import no longer overwrites the new track's lyrics with a stale response.
Closes #284.
🎚️ Library analysis — cancellable + cooperative
The post-scan Auto-analyse tracks sweep used to be a tight loop that decoded every audio file end-to-end with zero breathing room. On large libraries (4 000+ tracks) it pegged a CPU core for 30+ minutes and could effectively freeze mid-tier laptops, with no escape short of force-killing WaveFlow.
1.5.1 makes it well-behaved:
- A Stop button replaces the Analyze button while a run is in flight (Settings → Library). Clicking it stops the analyzer at the next track boundary.
- The worker yields and sleeps 25 ms between tracks so the OS scheduler can interleave the UI, audio playback, and background services like Windows Defender's per-file scan.
- A double-start guard prevents the manual "Analyze library" button from racing the post-scan auto-analyze hook.
Wall-clock cost is roughly 2 % on a 4 000-track library in exchange for the freeze risk going away.
Closes #286.
🔌 Bundled plugins — no more duplicate copies
Pre-1.5.1, the installer's bundled plugins (Web Radio today) were copied from the resource directory into %AppData%\Roaming\app.waveflow\waveflow\plugins\ on every boot. That left users with two identical web-radio folders on disk and a confusing "why is it in two places?" UX.
1.5.1 loads bundled plugins straight from the installer's resource directory — no boot-time copy, no duplicate. Pre-1.5.1 leftovers under the writable plugins tree are removed automatically on first launch.
Closes #280.
🪟 Mini-player + Skin picker UI fixes
- The mini-player booted into a white window since 1.5.0 because of a provider-tree regression introduced with the per-profile theme storage. It opens correctly again. (#279)
- The Pulse skin preview in Settings → Appearance leaked its neon halo past the card edge. The preview now shows just the typography + radius — the halo only paints on the real chrome once Pulse is selected. (#281)
- The About view's hero card was unreadable in Liquid light because the dark gradient was overridden by Liquid's universal glass treatment, leaving dark-only text classes stranded on pale glass. Hero is now theme-aware and reads correctly on every (skin × theme) combination.
🌍 Localization
Two new keys propagated across all 17 locales:
- Lyrics → Source picker — provider names + "Switch source" tooltip + the generic "Online source" fallback label.
- Settings → Analyze library — "Stop analysis" button label.

የልቀት ማስታወሻዎች
1.5.0 (2026-06-20)
✨ What's new in v1.5.0
WaveFlow 1.5.0 is the skins & extensibility release. The UI grew four extra skins on top of the Apple-Music baseline, a permission-gated plugin SDK landed with the first plugin (Web Radio) bundled in, and the lyrics waterfall now reaches five providers instead of one. Plenty of plumbing for the upcoming waveflow-server shipped under the hood too, but none of it changes the app's local-first model in 1.5.0.
🎨 Skins — four new visual identities
The theme system grew an orthogonal "skin" axis. 5 skins × 14 themes = 70 combinations, each persisted per profile. Studio stays as the default Apple-Music-inspired baseline; four new identities land alongside it:
- Editorial — broadsheet magazine layout, Playfair Display serifs, halftone artwork via mix-blend-luminosity, ornate WaveFlow Gazette masthead.
- Lounge — warm burgundy glass over a blurred cover backdrop, Apple-Vibrancy backdrop-filter recipe.
- Pulse — OLED neon-club aesthetic, dual magenta/cyan aurora, vinyl-spin cover that mirrors playback state.
- Liquid — full Apple Vibrancy with the 8-layer inset box-shadow glass recipe, theme-aware (works in light + dark).
──────────────────────────────────────────────────┬─────────────────────────────────────────

──────────────────────────────────────────────────┼─────────────────────────────────────────
Pulse skin — OLED neon-club │Liquid skin — Apple Vibrancy glass
──────────────────────────────────────────────────┴─────────────────────────────────────────
Picker lives in Settings → Appearance alongside the existing theme picker. Onboarding got a "Pick a vibe" step so first-run users land on the right combo. Motion is dispatched per-skin via Framer Motion — Pulse uses a bouncy spring, calmer skins inherit the soft default. Typography is bundled (Playfair Display, Lora, Space Grotesk, Space Mono, DM Sans Variable) — zero Google Fonts request at runtime.
🧩 Plugin SDK — sandboxed WASI plugins (RFC-002)
The plugin layer landed as a sandboxed runtime with explicit permission gates:
- WIT + wasmtime — plugins ship as WASM components compiled against a waveflow-plugin-sdk interface (host imports for HTTP, storage, audio, UI).
- Permission gates — every host import is gated by a manifest declaration the user approves on install. No silent network access, no silent filesystem reach.
- Guardrails by default — 50 MB max plugin.wasm size, 5 s HTTP timeouts, response-body cap, no redirect following (SSRF guard), per-plugin mutex on install/enable/uninstall to close TOCTOU races, offline-mode short-circuit on every outbound request.
- Settings panel — installed plugins list with one-click enable/disable/uninstall, per-plugin permission chips (network / storage / assets), version + size.
📻 Web Radio — the first plugin
Ships bundled in the app (so you have something to try the SDK against): a Web Radio plugin that streams internet stations through the same cpal engine the rest of the app uses. Stations route through the audio decoder thread so EQ / ReplayGain / spectrum visualizer all work over live streams. Switching stations fast doesn't deadlock — in-flight requests are cancelled cleanly.
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Web Radio plugin — 30 000+ stations browsable by genre

🎤 Lyrics — multi-provider waterfall + new save modes
The lyrics fetcher used to be LRCLIB-only. 1.5.0 ships a dedicated waveflow-syncedlyrics crate with five providers chained as a graceful fallback:
1. Musixmatch (enhanced word-level only) — opt-in, gated on MUSIXMATCH_ENABLED env.
2. LRCLIB — exact metadata match, primary line-level source.
3. NetEase — large Asian catalogue, native LRC.
4. Megalobiz — community-scraped enrichment.
5. Genius — plain-text last resort.
Each provider error is non-fatal: the chain degrades to a clean miss + cache-empty so the panel n

የልቀት ማስታወሻዎች
1.4.0 (2026-05-28)
✨ What's new in v1.4.0
WaveFlow 1.4.0 is the foundations & polish release — under the hood it lays the groundwork for the upcoming waveflow-server, on the surface it cleans up the rough edges you've been reporting against 1.3.0. No flashy new view this time, but the app is steadier, more correct, and Flathub-ready.
🧱 Architecture — waveflow-core workspace extraction (RFC-001 Phase 1.a)
The Rust backend split into a Cargo workspace with two crates:
- waveflow-core — portable business logic (domain types, repository traits + SQLite implementations, scanner helpers, smart-playlist engine, audio analysis, DSD format conversion, HTTP clients for Deezer / Last.fm / LRCLIB, artwork pipeline). Zero Tauri, zero cpal — designed to be reusable from the future waveflow-server.
- waveflow — the Tauri 2 desktop app. Keeps the #[tauri::command] handlers, the real-time cpal + rtrb audio engine, the DLNA / OS media-controls / Discord RPC integrations, the watcher, tray, profile pool wiring.
End-users won't notice anything different — the desktop app behaves identically. What changes is the future shape of the project: 1.5.0 will start hooking waveflow-server on top of the same waveflow-core crate so the desktop app and a future browser / mobile client can share scanning, repositories, and metadata enrichment without rewriting them.
🎛️ Equalizer — popup ↔ Settings stay in sync (#166)
The player-bar EQ popover and the Settings → Playback EQ card now share live state through a new player:eq broadcast. Toggling the master switch, changing presets or nudging a band from either surface updates the other instantly — no more "popup says EQ is on, Settings says off". The popup bypass thumb also lands flush-left when OFF and flush-right when ON instead of looking drifted on Windows. As a bonus, picking an unknown preset key now surfaces an actual error instead of silently no-op'ing.
🎤 Lyrics editor — footer always reachable (#172)
The Save / Cancel bar at the bottom of the lyrics editor could be pushed off-screen on 1920×1080 displays with Windows scaling at 125% or higher. The modal now sizes itself like the onboarding wizard (calc(100vh - 2rem) + flex-1 body), so the action bar stays pinned at any zoom level.
📚 Library — "No cover" filter removed (#170)
The albums-tab "No cover" checkbox was ambiguous enough that several users read it as "hide no-cover albums" and concluded their artwork had vanished. The legitimate use case (find missing covers to backfill) is already covered by Récupérer toutes les pochettes manquantes and the per-album cover picker, so the filter is gone for good — one less footgun.
🎨 Theming — topbar toggle preserves your family
Picking Lavender Light and then clicking the sun/moon toggle now switches to Lavender (dark) instead of resetting to the global Émeraude default — and vice-versa for every paired preset (Midnight, Sunset, Lavender, Crimson, Ocean). Themes without a counterpart (OLED, Neon) keep falling back to the global default swap so the toggle still does something sensible.
📦 Packaging — Flathub manifest (#164)
A Flatpak manifest landed in tree, ready for submission to Flathub. The build uses the no-default-features path (no in-app updater, since Flatpak owns updates), and the script permissions in the bundle are now correctly non-executable per Flathub's review checklist.
🩹 Quality pass
- Theme-pair fix and EQ broadcast cover the visible regressions from 1.3.0 that you reported.
- Phase 1.a went through four rounds of CodeRabbit review before merge — dozens of edge cases caught and fixed (Windows path canonicalisation in playlists, DSD bit-depth ranking in browse SQL, transactional cleanup on profile init failure, file hash recomputation propagation, …).
- release-please config updated to the post-workspace-split manifest paths so future minor bumps land in one shot without manual catch-up.
- TypeScript-ESLint upgraded to the latest stable.

1.3.0 26 ሜይ 2026 — 64-bit EXE (NSIS)64-bit MSI
የልቀት ማስታወሻዎች
1.3.0 (2026-05-26)
✨ What's new in v1.3.0
WaveFlow 1.3.0 is the theming & motion release — every panel, modal and
overflow menu animates now, with 10 brand-new theme presets to pick from.
Plus a substantial round of audio-quality surfacing, smart-playlist
additions, and 1080p polish.
🎨 Themes & motion
- 10 new theme presets picked from the Settings → Appearance card —
Émeraude (default), Midnight, Sunset, Lavender, Crimson, Ocean and friends.
Each ships an OKLCH accent palette plus an ambient background tint that
re-skins the whole app, including dark-only OLED and Neon variants.
- Panels, modals and menus animate in/out with framer-motion springs —
the queue, lyrics, now-playing right panels slide, modals fade with
backdrop blur, the overflow menu pops smoothly. No more snap-on / snap-off.
🎤 Lyrics
- Auto-discover sidecar .lrc / .txt files next to your tracks (or in
a sibling Lyrics/ folder, case-insensitive). Runs before LRCLIB, so your
K-Pop / J-Pop rips with embedded lyrics never need a network call.
- One-tap switch between Immersive Now Playing ↔ Fullscreen Lyrics — the
new icon in the lyrics header swaps to the cover view without going through
the main window.
- Word-synced lyrics: spacing between tokens restored on Enhanced LRC sources
that omit spaces between word stamps.
- Fullscreen lyrics rendered through a portal so the opacity transition no
longer bleeds through during the open/close animation.
🎛️ Audio quality
- Audio pipeline popover on hover over the quality footer — shows the
full Source → Processing → Output chain (DSD → PCM, Resample, Downmix,
EQ, ReplayGain, Normalize, Mono, Speed) with a green "Bit-perfect" pill
when nothing is touching the stream.
- Resampling arrow surfaced directly in the quality strip when the
source rate differs from the device rate.
- Hi-Res badge + Spotify-style label in the player bar with their own
visibility toggles in Settings → Appearance.
- About: Rubato version corrected (1.0 → 2.0, was lagging behind the
Cargo.toml bump).
🎵 Player polish
- Unified player-bar layout panel in Settings → Appearance — every
player button (Mini-player, Immersive, Lyrics, Queue, Device, A-B, Sleep,
EQ presets, Audio-quality strip) is toggleable from one place. The cover
click action is configurable too: Immersive (default) / Now Playing panel
(Spotify-style toggle) / none.
- EQ presets for 20 musical styles, accessible from the player bar
popover or the overflow menu.
- Scroll wheel on the volume slider adjusts the level — Apple Music /
Spotify gesture.
- Mini-player remembers its window position and size across launches,
with offscreen-fallback to the bottom-right if a monitor disconnected.
📻 Smart playlists
- New "On Repeat" smart family — single playlist of your top ~30 tracks
from the last 30 days by play count, deterministic ordering. The cover is
an indigo→black branded tile with a rainbow infinity-loop motif rasterised
from SVG via resvg/usvg/tiny-skia at runtime.
- Daily-Mix cover compositor: dedupes identical inputs so a 1-artist
playlist no longer renders the same picture four times.
🔗 Integrations
- Native OS track-change notifications — toast in Windows Action Center,
macOS Notification Center, and libnotify on Linux. Opt-in (off by default).
- Similar artists: Last.fm's getSimilar returns placeholder pictures
since their image API was killed in 2019. We now backfill with Deezer
search_artist for every cache miss, in parallel, before responding.
⚡ Performance
- Library tab prefetch in parallel with skeleton on first load — Songs,
Albums, Artists, Genres, Folders feel instant after the first paint.
- Bulk list payloads trimmed via a shared artwork_base so 6000-track
libraries don't ship 6000 copies of the same hash prefix over IPC.
- Skeletons and lazy-chunk prefetch generalised across every view.
🛠️ Queue, Wrapped & 1080p polish
- Queue: manual additions stack in your user queue instead of being
appended at the absolute end — matches how Spotify queue works.

1.2.0 (2026-05-21)
✨ What's new in v1.2.0
WaveFlow 1.2.0 is a polish release focused on profiles, localisation, and the parts of the UI you touch every day.
👥 Profiles
- Delete a profile from the selector modal — pop into "Manage" mode in the top-left, tap the red trash badge on any non-active profile, confirm. The active profile and the last remaining one are locked to keep the app usable.
- Onboarding rebuilt as a multi-step wizard (welcome → language → privacy → folder → Last.fm → scan → done). The Discord step was retired and a language picker now lives right at the start, so the rest of the wizard runs in your language from step 2.
- Onboarding re-triggers on every brand-new profile, even when created from a populated one.
🌍 Languages
- All 17 locales got a top-to-bottom quality pass: French standardised on vouvoiement, English / German / Spanish / Italian / Portuguese (PT + BR) / Dutch / Russian / Turkish / Indonesian / Arabic / Hindi / Japanese / Korean / Chinese (CN + TW) reviewed for terminology, tone, plural rules and faux-amis. Keyboard-shortcut labels are now translated everywhere too.
🎛️ Settings
- Reorganised into seven category tabs (Library / Playback / Integrations / Appearance / Data / Shortcuts / Diagnostics) — only the active panel mounts, so opening Settings is instant even when EQ, backups or the shortcuts editor are heavy.
🖥️ 1080p & player polish
- Tighter chrome density across the whole app for 1920×1080 laptops.
- Immersive Now Playing no longer overlaps the visualizer with the title block.
- Sidebar (Ma musique + Playlists) shares a single scroll at narrow heights — no more invisible playlists when Spotify is enabled.
- Player bar densified to Spotify / Lokal-style proportions.
- Switch directly between Immersive Now Playing ↔ Fullscreen Lyrics without going through the main window.
📚 Library & UX
- Local artist images (artist.jpg / <artist_name>.jpg) now show up on the main Artists grid, not just on the detail page.
- Add to playlist lives right inside the track row + popover — no more hopping into the playlist view.
- Album / artist popovers render through a portal with clamp + flip placement, so they never get clipped or stuck behind other rows.
- Cover upload preserves the real image extension (PNG stays PNG instead of being saved as a renamed temp file).
- Sort labels: directions and "Recently added" wording fixed.
- VS Code style zoom with Ctrl/Cmd +/-/0, persisted across launches.
- Artwork lightbox + interactive rows are fully keyboard-accessible.
🔧 Stability
- Migrations self-heal from line-ending drift (no more boot crash if core.autocrlf rewrote your .sql files at clone time).
- Atomic guard against deleting the last remaining profile in a race.
- Library context drops stale writes after a profile switch.
- Native window drag no longer hijacks the volume slider.
👋 Community
- GitHub Discussions wired up.
- Discussions link in About / Settings now points at the right place.
