[1.81.0] - 2026-09-09
Startup Manager now shows how long Windows measured each program delaying your last start-up. This is
Windows' own number, not a guess this app makes, and it is the one thing that tells you which of twenty
startup entries is actually worth turning off. The app had been reading these measurements all along and
showing them only on the Boot Analyzer tab, which is not where anyone goes to decide what to switch off. It
needs administrator rights, because that is what reading them requires, and the banner at the top of the tab
says so.
Added
- Startup Manager — a Startup impact column. Sourced from the same Windows Diagnostics-Performance
events the Boot Analyzer tab reads (#1587), presented the way that tab presents them: the bare figure,
"3.2 s" or "800 ms". Sorting is on the underlying milliseconds, so the slowest entry really does come
first — sorting the text would put "800 ms" above "3.2 s". The tooltip gives the whole sentence, including
which start-up was measured and what Windows classified the program as.
- Attribution that fails closed. A figure appears only when Windows' report matches the entry whole:
its name, or the executable file name in its command line, compared case-insensitively and in full. A
prefix, a substring or a near-match shows nothing. A wrong match would tell you a program you depend on
cost you three seconds, on the one tab whose action is to switch that program off, so no measurement is
the right answer when there is any doubt. An entry Windows never flagged stays blank rather than showing
"0 s", which would be a claim that it is fast.
Changed
- Reading the boot measurements is skipped entirely without administrator rights. They cannot be read
without them, so an unelevated scan no longer pays to open an event log that will return nothing. The
elevation banner now says what the rights unlock, rather than only mentioning the on/off switches.
Verify the download
Get-FileHash .\SysManager-v1.81.0.exe -Algorithm SHA256
Expected SHA256: AFFA288D398A6A892BF0978EF47654DCFDDEDE3B65014689E63CB8F3177631B6
This build is not code-signed, so Windows will warn on first launch. That is
expected for a small independent app: see what the warning says and what to
click.
Code signing is planned through the SignPath Foundation,
which provides free certificates to open-source projects, with signing performed by
SignPath.io. Until then, the SHA256 above and the build
attestation below are what establish that a download is the genuine build.
Code signing policy
This release is not code-signed. The team roles, release-approval process and
privacy policy required by the SignPath Foundation programme
are documented in advance under Code signing
policy. That
documentation is a prerequisite for applying, not evidence of a certificate. The
attribution line naming SignPath as the signing provider will appear here once a
certificate is actually issued.
This program will not transfer any information to other networked systems unless
specifically requested by the user or the person installing or operating it. Full
privacy policy.
Verify where this binary came from
This exe was built by GitHub Actions from this public source, and the build is
recorded in the Sigstore public transparency log. With the
GitHub CLI:
gh attestation verify .\SysManager-v1.81.0.exe --repo laurentiu021/SystemManager
That proves which commit and workflow produced this exact binary, something the
SHA256 file cannot show, since it is published alongside the exe it describes.
Each release also ships SysManager-v1.81.0.sbom.json, a CycloneDX inventory of
every dependency resolved for this build.
